- Goliath is a steel roller coaster made by Giovanola of Switzerland. The hyper-coaster is located in the Goliath Plaza area of Six Flags Magic Mountain in Valencia, California and is promoted with a sub-tropical theme that is characterized by ruins of the ancient Mayan civilization. The ride is nearly identical to Titan at Six Flags Over Texas.
I remember always being scared of rollercoasters as a kid and said I'd never get on, one summer my girlfriend wanted to go to 6 flags, I didnt want her to see me be a baby so i decided to be "fake hyped" , we go and she wants to go on Goliath first, on the inside I was like BRUH, but said "hell yeah babe let's go"...we go on and immediately we take out seat on the FRONT OF THE RIDE I feel my heart sinking to the bottom of my stomach, she's all smiles, I put on my best poker face and just laugh and hype up the crowd like a mad man "woohoo let's gooooo, yeah baby!!!" When we get to the lift and hear the constant clicking noise ,that feels like an eternity, I look at her and see how happy and excited she is, she grips my hand, we slowing hang over the first drop and soon begin to freefall...I'll admit I was terrified and was thinking, omg this drop is forever...once the drop ended though I realized how much fun it felt, that adrenaline is insane, I became legit hypeman scream "let's gooooo baby" the rest of the way, after that we got on every other coaster and i was hyped to get on it all, X2, TATSU, SCREAM u name it, we did it...on the drive home, she went to sleep and I realized that I must really love this girl if i stood up to my fear for her, fast forward today we've been happily married for 7 years now

this goliath is very tall and just full of straight up awesomeness. there is a reason why the line is sometimes so long on this ride. i went on it again this year and was the first one in line.

This ride was incredibly SMOOTH no joke. I even forgot that I was on the ride. The only scary part is when you are heading to the top. The drop is just fun and not scary at all. I rode in the back. Again, the smoothest ride everrrr

+mikkel fosbøl the only reason the train and the restraints and you are falling is because of gravity. Otherwise nothing would fall towards earth. It's only a sense of weightlessness because you're falling together so it feels weightless for a moment.

@@ZeranZeran the clicking noise on the lift is the safety mechanism that prevents it from rolling back, so don't feel in danger on lift hills and enjoy the coasters :D

Actually it's better when you're in the front seat. When you're in the back it's worse because you have to be pulled super hard down the drop
The back of any roller coaster is waaaay more intense than the front. I say always ride in the front if you want a less scary ride, or if it's your first time on a ride. If you want a bigger thrill, go for middle and back.
Some people, who are scared of roller coasters, will always sit in the back as if that's going to make it less scary, when the opposite is true. Being in the back ends up making the ride literally twice as scary, further fueling their fear of roller coasters.
Yeah like these guys said backseat has more carts in front making the pull more intense. Also, the only thing “scary” on the front is seeing the drop, thats about it

My friends made me go on this ride yesterday, and it was insane. I’ve never been so scared in my entire life.
This was my first roller coaster ever and it was the roller coaster that started my love for them. It's so thrill inducing and once you get over the first drop, the fun just doesn't stop. If you enjoy the feeling of adrenaline pumping through your veins, Goliath does a pretty good job with the drop

So when people go down on something or when they go in the air on an airplane they get a weird feeling in their stomach but me, I get that weird feeling in mah legs.
This ride is so much more insane when you're actually there to experience it. I felt like my stomach separated from my body completely during that drop and the G-force on those turns are incredibly intense. To this day, I still don't know how I survived this.

Ya I remember almost blacking put the few times I've ridden it because of the Gs. Its got a major greyout zone for sure . But the thrill is worth it, so fun!

X2 was the first ride I went on once I got there, and I felt so numb to any other roller coaster after that lol

When I first laid eyes on this ride, there was an ambulance waiting at the exit. I should have taken that as a sign. The whole time I was in line, my stomach was telling me, "Go back, you fool!" Again, I didn't listen. It was only after I was locked into the seat that I realized the folly of my decision. The imagined terror paled in comparison to the abject horror that was to forever alter my perspective of roller coasters. As the train was making its way up towards the first drop, it occurred to me that my stomach had checked out, and my heart was now in my throat. I had hoped it would be a quick death.
This was the first time I had almost passed out on a roller coaster. The 255-foot-drop, 61-degree vertical angle achieved its purpose. Not only was I fighting to keep conscious, but the entrance to the tunnel at the bottom of the drop looked impossibly small. I was sure decapitation was seconds away. Somehow, we made it through, and the only thing I can remember after that, was going up another hill, and, without any time to recover, another hair-raising drop; the rest was a blur. People were screaming with glee, laughing and relishing the thrill of it all. My only thought was never, EVER again am I going on a ride that brings "Final Destination" to mind.

I rode this four times today, each in different locations on the train. The front seat rules! When you reach the top of the initial 1,000 mile crest, a journey which creates a unique sense of dread and anticipation, you cannot see the tracks below you. Once you start plummeting down at 75 mph, you notice you're heading toward a sheer black wall that turns out to be a tunnel barely big enough to allow safe passage. Before you've had a chance to recover from that near-miss, you find yourself leaning left so hard you don't even know how you didn't fall out of your seat. Everything else becomes a blur, which makes this the best coaster at Magic Mountain!
Rode this today for the first time....Amazing drop. And the vision and consciousness started to go when we got to the part at 2:28 -- started getting a little gray and fuzzy. Great ride!

When I first rode this I was unable to continue screaming. It was weird. I was screaming but then it was like too much g force and it made me stop. I’ve been on this a few times but I don’t think I could do it anymore 😐

My first time riding this when i was in high school i almost passed out on that first drop. One of my favorite roller coasters of all time.
This is the kind of ride that when you get to the top of the hill, your like, I should have stayed behind.... Im gonna DIEEEEEEEEE and you go down
Just ride x2 and goliath first and all the other rides are nothing. And another thing do not scream on this ride because half way on the drop you wont scream anymore and its hard to catch your breath

I'd say this ride is highly underrated. Call me a Magic Mountain fanboy, but I had a great time on this ride. I rode in the very back of it, and it really forced me around. The downward helix did make me gray out for a few seconds. Maybe it's because I've never been on a B&M Hyper, but I do think Giovanola did a great job with it. Also learned how to grow bamboo (if you've waited in the line, you know what I'm talking about)
A lot of coaster enthusiasts think this should be taken out in place of a new hyper but honestly as a casual enjoyer I love this ride
This ride was so awesome! I kept a straight face the whole time but I could feel myself passing out for a little bit.
While I was on Colossus, we were watching Goliath go and right before the drop, it broke down. We sat there and died of laughter as all those people had to walk down those stairs. I would've died xD

They slowed down the trim brakes at mid-ride to decrease the G forces in the helix. They used to be a little much.

Honestly, the ride was nothing. Just got to have a certain mentality before you enter the ride to become fearless.

as we were climbing up I literally just held my stomach and in my head said "I dont fear death". Felt amazing; still fun as hell but it was great to know that a drop like that can be conquered if you have the right mindset.
Love this ride, second favorite after Tatsu. Keep in mind, there are no shoulder harnesses, it's just an old-fashioned lap bar.
As you climb the hill, you watch as every other coaster at Magic Mountain falls far away beneath you, and you feel horribly exposed and vulnerable.
And the drop comes all at once, feeling as close to 90 degrees as anyone would dare to build. The bottom of the drop actually goes underground to have the space to pull you back up out of it, You're going so fast.
Incredible ride, as I said only topped by Tatsu for its head first, top down loop that's like no other ride I've been on.
And they're both at the same park.
this and X2 are the only coasters I won't go on lol

I frickin love this ride I went with my best friends I was a little scared once we got to the very top (it goes reallllyyyyy high just saying) and when you drop you don’t even feel the butterfly sensation you just feel like you’re floating and it’s actually a really fun ride it wasn’t that scary

Yeah, but this is what they do. You can always stand at the little gate for the front seat if that's where you want to sit. I prefer to be in the middle somewhere but I loathe roller coasters.
Doesn’t matter front row sucks, back or middle is the way to go for a better experience. If your in the back the coasters in front pulls you more.

Went on this twice on the same day! Smoothest ride ever the only part where it’s nerve wrecking is going up the hill but other than that funnest ride everrr it looks awesome when the suns about to set. It looks scary but trust me it’s amazing. Everyone is regretting their life choices going up the hill but once you’re on the rest everyone is laughing and screaming with glee haha def recommend
When i visited MM a few years ago, i had flash pass and was able to ride this back to back. It was unreal!

Gotta say its one of my favorite rides in the park. May look scary but really its a lot if fun smooth as butter not bumpy at all. Only thing that might make you tense a bit is the first drop but after that its pure fun.
Amazing ride really smooth , seats are abit small but they are comfortable. The first drop is amazing.
That fucking drop literally took my breath away. And like the video I was in the front. To this day it's still one of the best rides I've been on.

When I went on this ride I didn’t read the sign about the 255 foot drop and came off the ride in TEARS 😭🤚
At around 2:31 I passed out for a good three seconds, this is the only roller coaster i've ever been on that could do that to me lmaooo

This ride was amazing it was my first time going to six flags ever and this was in fact my 1st ride it was a scary experience but awesome at the same time the drop was awesome and scary😂 I felt like my stomach wasn’t even there anymore just have fun when you go on here💯
I've learned nothing from math. Other than story problems throwing in random numbers to throw me off... I guess if you dropped something from a ride, it doesn't care how fast you're going. It only cares how far up u r. Still, I bet something falling from that high up would drop pretty fast. How much damage could a cell be to someone's head :/ 🤔

Edwin G. Goliath needed maintenance that required a part that needed to be special ordered. So it had to be engineered then shipped. That's what I heard from a Six Flags employee. I have a season pass myself, and I've been waiting for it to reopen.

Steel Roller Coasters are Closed alot In my Experience
this is gonna sound insane but.. when i rode this i found the drop extremely relaxing. i’m not even kidding, i loved it.
