This lecture addresses ground tackle terminology including importance good communications between conn and person on the foc'sle operating the ground tackle. It further discusses anchoring in heavy or foul weather, methods to mitigate an anchor dragging, holding power and efficiency of anchors, four step process for anchoring, tripped anchors , balled up anchors, motion of the vessel at anchor (Horsing), inclination of the chain, static and dynamic ground tackle load.
