As a teenage girl the scene between missy and George hit me hard. I get the feeling of disgust at yourself after lashing out at your family and not knowing why. Show scenes like this don’t usually make me cry but this one definitely did.
Hormones are hell. I remember getting furious with my family for no good reason. I'd lash out or feel slighted or ignored or get annoyed by little things. I HATED being told it was just teenage hormones, but it was. Those hormones effect your brain, your body, it's amazing what those chemicals can do. It's awful. Looking back I feel terrible for some of the things I said and did, and I wasn't even a bad kid by most scores. But I never went to a single one of my brothers track meets, and for the life of me I can't remember why. I love my brother, now he's one of my best friends and I loved him then. But I was so stuck in my own world and issues that I was a terrible sister. I don't remember if I attended his high school graduation. I hope I did. Katie, as one Katy to another, treasure the people in your life. That time goes so quickly and it takes years to build back those relationships, if you even do. God this whole scene was epic. Very well done. The sirens going off, and the Emergency alert warning on the radio with the scary tones like the world is ending, and she just calmly says she's scared. I almost started crying when she cried. Reagan is such an amazing young actress, she deserves an Emmy! So does Iain.
It got to me that George was laying over Missy, and cradling her head. Even though she was being a hormonal teen two minutes ago he’d always protect his little girl
@Joni The Good Lawyer any good parent. But not every parent. But for Missy I’m sure she realized that, no matter what her dad still cradled her and protected her.
I Felt The Same Way Raegan Cried I'm Always Crying In My Life I Think Raegan Will Post The Cry With Me Video In Her TH-cam Account I'm Going To Cry Just Watching This😢
I seriously can't really stand how George was portrayed in TBBT, as a drunken fool. By all accounts when the chips are down he is a loving and caring father that will do anything to protect his children.
Let me go real deep into this TV show lmao. My guess it's that it's Mary's fault. She probably skewed Sheldon's vision of his dad after he cheated (keep in mind she was also thinking about cheating), and painted him as this awful monster. Georgie and Missy actually spend time with their dad and they know how their mom works, so not easy to get into their heads, while Sheldon, we all know can be easily influenced by his mom. That's my take.
Well therein lies the problem of making a TV show out of a character's background that used to be only be subject to short (and sometimes cheap/stereotypical) punchlines in a different show. In TBBT they obviously never really thought too deeply about the jokes they made about Sheldon's past, his brother and sister, mother or his dad. But now that they've made a whole show on its own out of it that just concluded its sixth season, you have to give the characters more depth beyond short punchlines to get people to actually watch it for so long. If Sheldon's dad was on Young Sheldon solely the way he was talked about in TBBT, then I'd doubt that the audience would want to watch him appear in six season. And that then leads to the punchlines maybe not making so much sense anymore.
I think that the reason George was portrayed as such a shit father in TBBT is because we are seeing it from SHELDON'S point of view. To him, George was a fat, stupid, drunken, football coach, while we get to see the caring, protective, and honest father he is from a general point of view. Another reason why he holds Mary on a pedestal and George as the "bad guy" is because Mary was constantly coddling and smothering Sheldon, whereas George didn't treat him as "The special little gift" that Mary did. he treated him the same way he treated Missy and Georgie.
I swear. This had to have been heart shattering when Missy apologized to his Dad George for being rude and not realizing it. She probably had a lot going on in her mind and she took her anger out on her whole family. She truly loves her parents and her brother Sheldon. If that didn't give you the water works, I don't know what will.
Agreed; Missy is just a teenager lashing out because she’s caught in the middle of dozens of circumstances, many beyond her control. I think she will definitely try to get better in S7…but only as long as George Sr. is alive
@@saberthecoolest I agree, as long as he's alive she'll change. Teenagers can be angry for the smallest things until life itself 🌪️ or 🌀 will make you understand in brutally humble way. She knows she could have lost her family and now understands.
@@whitneywilliams317 ngl it’s a bit sad because we already know the inevitable conclusion of George Sr’s death and how it’s going to break everyone…i can’t help rooting for Missy to be ok even though I know she’s going to spiral again… 😢
@@saberthecoolest of course she's going to spiral up again, because now it's a daddy issue with him gone she's gonna go find a dad's love somewhere else, which leads to shitty men.
She is, one of the most wonderful kids I've seen on set. Sometimes while watching a movie you can feel the children acting are fake, but it was never like that with Missy. She was fantastic from Day one :')
Yall gotta understand. Sheldon dosent know how to process emotions, whenever George Sr dies he jets off to California faster than ever never to look back, Georgie had to become the man of 2 familes his own and take care of his grieving mother and angsty teen sister who is mad her twin isnt there and grieving the loss of her father. As we all remember in TBBT, Sheldon believed for 20+ years that while he was away everything was ok because Mary had lied to him in letters and over the phone because she didn't want to worry him and ruin his life so Georgie resents him for living the perfect life while he was a teen father and a man of 2 families
The story of any human to ever live can draw sympathy if viewed entirely and George didn't do that much wrong to begin with. Sheldons perspective is different from ours because he never understood how people felt. Later in life after finally maturing and writing his story he admits to never having understood his father until being one himself. Point is what we get never happends in real life this a all point of view perspective on the cooper family that no one actually there could ever get they would never see everything.
@@IIIIllllllllIIIIIllll Exactly. And in the narrations, we see Sheldon now able to draw a fuller picture of his father. Sheldon acknowledges his dad's flaws but in a previous episode admits that he and his siblings also probably "weren't the best kids [either]". Sheldon also admits the regrets he has about never saying the most important things to his father; that Sheldon appreciated and loved him. At the same time though, Sheldon now holds the fond memories he does have of his father close to his heart now that he understands the roller coaster that being a parent can be. The older Sheldon who narrates the show is one who has come full circle as a man and it's a beautiful story of a man who used to see his past as an anchor but now uses his past as a place of reference, reflection, and nostalgia. That is a beautiful place to be emotionally and spiritually.
To people who don’t live in tornado alley. Storms like these are so freaking scary. It’s like an evil darkness is covering over your entire town and you usually just don’t know where it’s touched down at. The alert on your phone or tv or radio is one of the most chilling things ever. Right now exactly where im sleeping, an f3 tornado was once in this exact same spot. That gives me chills every time I think about that.
We don't see tornadoes where I live, but we do have a lot of earthquakes, and I know exactly what you mean with the alert, because everytime the earthquake alert goes off here I freeze and my blood runs cold. The worst part is that we barely get a minute or so warning before the earthquake hits, I'm not sure with how much anticipation you can predict tornadoes.
@@berenicemendivil7217 usually instead of being hit by it immediately like earthquakes, you’ll just see it some miles away. It’s like a giant monster is going around destroying the place you live. One time a tornado was forming right above my friends house, he lived only a few houses down from me. Luckily it went away.
Survived an EF2 tornado jumping from place to place near my neck of the woods (area where I lived) it was so devastating and also a heartbreaking scene and to be that close to help my former co- workers trapped in the wreckage only to have police tell me I can't go and help them out I had survived 14 and a half years of hurricanes and knew what supplies I needed to take with me to be safe and to get them out safe as well, meantime I saved a family who was about to try and cross the street where there was a downed power cable then there was another about right under where it light pole then I realized that I was under that same area of the light pole that was just leaning up onto the power cables that were there I saw myself under the same danger so I also moved away while telling those near me to look up and watch out they all said thanks to me even though I felt the officer was a bit rude I know why he said what he said, we were without power for days at my house but we managed by making a BBQ everyday so to not let the food go to waste. This might have done Missy a favour by her making peace with her Dad. They are supposed to loose George soon. It was said they lost him when Sheldon was 14.
I honestly expect them to retcon this as an AU with how much they've backpedaled with George. He's painted as a drunk, he just likes the occasional beer. He's said to cheat on his wife, the writers backpedal and say "WELL UH, MARY WAS GONNA DO IT TOO!". He's supposed to die, they're going to just say he dies AFTER the show is done, I'm calling it.
@@TECH097Can make the arguement that TBBT portrays him that way as it's from Sheldon when in reality that wasn't the case with all the shit Sheldon said. Hell you see in the TBBT Sheldon's own views of his family get changed from how he saw shit

this had to be one of the best scenes in young sheldon. actually made me cry. I hope one day i take care of my kids like george took care of missy in that scene
omds I cried watching this it was so sad. It was emotional. The perfect scene. The prayer as we could see the whole family in their different situations is absolutely perfect.
This is such a powerful scene. George laying over Missy, to shield her from any debris that might come their way. And how coming through it made Missy reasses so much. George may not have sounded great in TBBT but remember at that point he was only a loose concept for comedic anecdotes. They didn't have any idea they would be coming back like this and actually fleshing out his character. It's best just to take TBBT stories of George with a heaping portion of salt.
I related to Missy so much when she said she'd been awful and she didn't even know why. There were so many times as a teen where I would feel annoyed at the slightest thing, and hiding those emotions because I knew they were unwarranted most of the time was hard, and I didn't always bother, but I also knew there was no real reason for it. Mostly I thought it must be an accumulation of little things, and the stress that comes with having to think about adult life. I hit my mid-twenties when I stopped having those too strong reactions almost over night, and I realised everything they say about teenage hormones messing with the brain was true.
The car just added comedy to one of the most emotional YS scenes. I was crying one minute and howling with laughter the next. Pure comedy, acting and directing genius
I hope they don't show George dying on the show. I hope in the last scene in the last episode, they are all together and happy and then Sheldon says in a voice over, We lost my father shortly after that, or something.
Or she could have been a rotten child the gets pregnant young and does hardcore drugs. It's good she has a sense of discipline around her. Not perfect parents, but well above the bar of "good enough".
Or maybe Mary could have shown that she actually cared about missy. Mary constantly pushes missy aside and ignores her and and puts her down. There’s a scene where missy is in tears and all Mary cares about is Sheldon. Missy is mad and she has a right to be.
@@MrSirFluffy Missy wound up with multiple failed relationships and became a single mother of 4 children (different fathers I believe). The parents were NOT well above the bar of good enough. Mary bullied and berated everyone in that family, except her golden child. The disciplinary tactics she used on Missy were ridiculous; she didn't discipline = they yelled and shouted and bullied. George had good intentions, but Mary criticized everything he did, bullied him, treated him the same way she did Missy. It's no wonder he drank. Mary's religious fanaticism ruined a lot for the family, which was part of the story of course, but Mary is a Karen.
@@hilaryc3203 I don't think you have witnessed the average life of people in poverty. The fact she is not crack addicted is a success. Considering she had child like Sheldon, the other two came out decent. Missy didn't seem to grow up miserable, just anxty. Missy seems happy in BBT, Sheldon won a Nobel Prize, and Georgie becomes a millionaire. I'd say as a parent she high rolled.
This part made me cry so much the way he protected and laid on his daughter to sheild her from harm. Yes at times he comes on strong, but i think he just wants what's best for his kids. He's a really good dad, but he made mistakes. Thats part of being human, we make mistakes. Yes he felt guilty after Brenda, but to me that shows he knew he messed up. He regretted and felt guilty. If he was a bad person, he wouldnt have cared if it got out.
George and Missy experienced the terror of a tornado. It's a huge and powerful storm that gathers so much wind that it creates a funnel shape from the sky to the earth and travels quickly, picking up debris, trees, cars, even houses sometimes. It can be so destructive and unpredictable, taking out half if a street of homes and leaving the others unharmed. Parts of the US are more vulnerable to tornados, such as flat expanses of land located mostly in the middle of the country. Texas, where the Cooper family is located, experiences a fair amount of them. Parts of Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas and Nebraska are known as ' Tornado Alley' ,due to the high number of tornados in those areas.
What we're told about George in TBBT is everyone's opinions. Its not fact. So as we the audience are seeing these moments, we've got the objective view. As teens, how many times did we think our parents were being unreasonable, but now we look back at adults knowing what they did was right. ❤
Or maybe they hadn't decided how George's character was going to be like and so the creators of TBBT took jabs at George's expense for the sake of comedy. Also missy and georgie were painted as idiots and now we see they're worth 10 Sheldon's
@@annabougato9628 I think it was lazy writing. The whole rubbish father is out dated. Of course Georgie and Missy were the "stupid" ones to Sheldon. My mum has watched a few episodes. She said someone that stuck. That George wasn't a terrible father (he was human), it was that Sheldon wasn't a good son.
@@ScarletFlame666 here's a personal theory, in young sheldon it's confirmed they have a child (name Leonard Cooper), since the episodes where he talks about his father was before he had a child, we can assume his respect for his father grew when he became a father himself, remember, sheldon is narrating the story, so we can interpret it as Sheldon remembering past event's that his family went through when he was a kid.
I watched the last two episodes today. I thought Sheldon and Mary going to Germany was the end, but holy shit what a dramatic ending they brought. I was in the corner of the chair when the tornado hit. I knew there would be some major damage in the neighborhood. But when I saw Connie's reaction I was shocked. Everything is just going big.
How George is on top of missy keeping her safe from the tornado is so sweet. Then how she starts to cry and him saying it’s ok it’s ok. Then she says I don’t know why I’m acting this way I do love you and mom and everyone. It’s just so adorable.
Sometimes we forget how much our dads do for ourselves. And specially for daughters ❤️ No matter what you say dad's are always ready to provide you that. May Almighty bless us all with our dad's presence for as much as possible ❤️❤️🤲
The actor who plays Missy is a perfect case study in how a child actor can vastly improve while growing on set and learning from those around her. *cough* modern family *cough*
It’s a good thing that Mary made Missy go with them because she likely would’ve been alone when the tornado hit. Or she could’ve taken off with Paige and who knows where THEY would’ve been.
This is finally the Video that let me say this about George: He is truly the best kind of Father you can hope for. I know this is "just" a show but if i ever got a Father one Day i hope i can got a bit like this. What a fucking Chad of a Familyman.
This little snippet from the show make me bawl my eyes out every time I see it I'm a very emotional guy and even if something isn't directly happening to me I seem to have emotions like it is happening to me and I felt like I was actually experiencing the natural disaster with them that's how good this show is
This reminded me of the time my dad did similar thing for us Back in 2015 when a massive earthquake hit us I was home with my younger brother and even younger cousin As the oldest at that time, my sense of responsibility kept from feeling afraid I was more worried about getting my brother, counsin and my dog out of the house When night fell, and my parents were home, we stayed on the road till midnight in case of powerfull aftershock But by then, I was so high strung of stress, I had splitting headache Still I couldn't fall asleep on the road like so many others So my dad ushered us home, kept our doors open in the outer most room of the house and told us to sleep He stayed up like a sentry for 2 days and nights straight, watching news and recovery effort, so that if an aftershock comes he would be able to get us out in a blink (and he did get us out at dawn next morning when a powerful aftershock hit) He didn't get a wink of sleep for 2 days So that we could sleep safely Won't ever forget that night We slept so lightly that we would wake up every 15-30 minutes But each time, I would see my dad wide awake I'll never forget that
So well written and acted. Missy does indeed have a conscience. Whew at some point we're going to have to deal with George's death....that's gonna be hard.
George is such a great Dad - he throws himself on top of Missy to protect her knowing all too well anything could land on him Mary on the other hand is awful - the way she treats her family and always puts the church before them is horrid
@@fandomking8939 No she didn’t, if you recall George is the reason Sheldon feels uncomfortable entering rooms without knocking 3 times. That traumatized him and so both parents made massive mistakes with the kids.
The facial expressions for George are quite impressive acting feats. He looks like he goes into full crisis control mode while trying to avoid showing any sort of nervousness which might scare his daughter. The second he sees that tornado barreling towards them his facial expression goes from focused to frightened, almost like his heart drops, but in an effort to keep everything under any semblance of control he can manage, he turns away from the sight and tries to find a ditch for them to take cover in. The voice acting is already pretty good, but the expressions and body language of his character makes George feel real in this situation.

Even though on The Big Bang Theory, Mary was very warm and nurturing. Whereas on Young Sheldon, it shows that George was in many ways was the better parent and also in many ways, Mary was very enabling and like Sheldon, “bad crap crazy”

You lash out at everyone and it feels good at the time but then you go home and cry in your bed and promise to do better but you don't. And just on and on for years until it just magically shuts off

A bunch of people complain about how he was portrayed TBBT. People, you do know that those jokes about his dad being drunk/deadbeat were made way before they even knew TBBT was gonna last that long AND before Young Sheldon was even a thought, right? They're just retconning a bunch of stories.
Plus, that was entirely from Sheldon’s perspective, and Mary’s. For someone who has an eidetic memory, Sheldon has a bit of a habit of only seeing things from his personal point of view instead of someone else’s, unless that other person supports him and his point of view. Since Sheldon was entirely favoured by Mary, I think Sheldon entirely believed her side of the story between her and George. We know how confusing and often outright absurd, even deluded Sheldon’s logic is, and he’s often oblivious to how things really work.
@@jakandratchet9930 This. And also the right about of gaslighting (Mary) and trauma (seeing George cheat. George dying) can sometimes give a person false memories of events.

Something like 2:50 happened to a relative of mine. She was driving down the highway in a storm. She saw a bunch of people pulled over, she turned the radio on. The DJ said "if you're on Highway 10 pull over right now," and that's where she was. She pulled over right away. A few minutes later, a tornado crossed the road half a mile down the road.
Back in FEB of this year, I was in the hospital, stuck in the ICU. I have suffered with medical issues all my life, as I'm on a ventilator, and I have a feeding tube. I'm legally blind, and have a slew of other medical issues. Well Two days before I saw this last episode, I was removed from the medications that kept me in a medically induced coma. I woke up confused, and pulled out tubes that I shouldn't have pulled out. When I fully woke up, and I realized what had happened, I WAS HORRIFIED. I kept trying to get them to let me go home, but I didn't realize what had happened. So my assistant Joshua was staying in my room with me, as he helps me, but he put Young Sheldon on for me, so I could pass the time. I remember lying there watching so many episodes and it calmed me down a little bit. This last episode I could relate to. I felt like Missy. I just wanted the whole thing over with. At the end of the episode, Joshua told me that we'd watched all the seasons that were were on Netflix at the time. I remember feeling like I was in a tornado. A tornado that left me terrified, and confused. But I'm doing better, and watching this again helps me realize that storms pass. I'm not in the hospital anymore. I'm at home, still with lots of health issues, but I'm not in ICU. Things are Stable!!

She really is the unsung MVP of this show.

Reagan is an extraordinary young lady and I know she'll have a good future whatever she decides to do❤🎉
I seriously can't really stand how George was portrayed in TBBT, as a drunken fool. By all accounts when the chips are down he is a loving and caring father that will do anything to protect his children.
Keep in mind most of what we know of him, we know from adult Sheldon. He would even describe Leonard as not that smart.
@@ZheToralf I understand that, but even Sheldon who is clueless, has grossly mischaracterized him.
@@Spazilton1 Blame the writers and it was written way before the idea of this show Young Sheldon came to life.
Totally, kids dont always see the things they thought they saw. My sister and I have different memories of my daf drinking
There’s also the fact that he caught his father cheating.
@@low-keydrama1260 yeah but maybe Sheldon didn't see what he thought he saw. I am curious to see how it plays out.
@Christopher Bingham of course Mary would think George is a bad father. Lmao!
Maybe this is sheldon in the Alt Universe
I think she will definitely try to get better in S7…but only as long as George Sr. is alive
Deffo did I was drunk wen I saw the clip and my mouth still quivered and I felt a tear
@@saberthecoolest I agree, as long as he's alive she'll change. Teenagers can be angry for the smallest things until life itself 🌪️ or 🌀 will make you understand in brutally humble way. She knows she could have lost her family and now understands.

She's phenomenal
@@IIIIllllllllIIIIIllllseeing his dad cheating with a woman isn’t so complicated that Sheldon doesn’t understand what happened.
That the family never once thinks that Missy would like to go to Germany or California is just beyond belief. Talk about being left behind.

This scene hits extra hard today.
rip george
Right??? I was going through so much internal turmoil and it was YEARS before I found the words to express how much I had been hurting.

If Mary hadn't raised Missy with snaps and snarls she would have been a happier child.

Or maybe they hadn't decided how George's character was going to be like and so the creators of TBBT took jabs at George's expense for the sake of comedy. Also missy and georgie were painted as idiots and now we see they're worth 10 Sheldon's

As the oldest at that time, my sense of responsibility kept from feeling afraid
I was more worried about getting my brother, counsin and my dog out of the house
When night fell, and my parents were home, we stayed on the road till midnight in case of powerfull aftershock
But by then, I was so high strung of stress, I had splitting headache
Still I couldn't fall asleep on the road like so many others
So my dad ushered us home, kept our doors open in the outer most room of the house and told us to sleep
He stayed up like a sentry for 2 days and nights straight, watching news and recovery effort, so that if an aftershock comes he would be able to get us out in a blink (and he did get us out at dawn next morning when a powerful aftershock hit)
He didn't get a wink of sleep for 2 days
So that we could sleep safely
Won't ever forget that night
We slept so lightly that we would wake up every 15-30 minutes
But each time, I would see my dad wide awake
I'll never forget that

This is what you should do if you’re driving and see a funnel cloud. Do NOT get under an overpass or stay in the vehicle!
Additionally, if you don’t have time to get out of the car, FLOOR IT. The forward momentum may keep you from being picked up. Also, get down as much as possible to avoid flying debris.
george and missy have the sweetest parent child relationship
Gonna break my heart when George passes
Jorge face when he sees the tornado. Instantly went into protection mode.
Bet in hindsight she wished she would have drop all that teenage angst and spent more time with her dad......
I miss those days when anyone can say bye to Family and Friends before they board the Plane.
