  • Full title reads: "HMS Nelson. First pictures of world's most powerful battleship, with her many revolutionary ideas in construction - now nearly ready for her trials".
    Newcastle upon Tyne, Tyne and Wear.
    Various L/Ss of Royal Navy battleship - HMS Nelson - in dock.

    A slow but hugely impressive ship. Imagine being on the receiving end of those 16" guns..
    When you think this was 1926 and how the navy's hands were tied with the restrictions of the Naval treaty in place.

      It could manage 25 knots as Rodney proved. It was quite fast enough for when it was built.
