I think every Christian needs Matthew Henry's Bible Commentary, Strong's Concordance and Hailey's Bible Handbook. You're right! Easy to understand and just great supplemental material when studying. I find a lot of my Bible study resources at the Banner of Truth website. I don't know if you use that site, but they have great sales throughout the year, too.

I love my Matthew Henry commentary! I’ve been reading my Bible since I was 17 but still come across things where I’m like, ‘wait, what?’ I’m reading through Genesis right now and just read that Sarah was not just Abraham’s wife but his half sister! I’m baffled I never picked up on that before.
Commentaries often help us get through our questions and help us understand the time period and ways of the people. Thankful for recommending so many good ones!

I, too, came to faith only a few years ago, and use many of the same resources that you do. In addition, to Vine’s, Strongs, the Matthew Henry commentary, and the John MacArthur Study Bible, I also use the ESV Gospel Transformation Study Bible, and David Guzik’s Enduring Word commentaries. Although he teaches and preaches from the NKJV, I find it very easy to understand. It’s a free resource on his website. I’ve also been using the Bible Recap ( A One Year Study Thru The Bible). It’s given me a couple of “aha” moments lately. I also use the Rose Book of Bible Charts, Maps & Time Lines. Thanks for the great video!

That Vines book is like the Strong's concordance that is my go to for study. WAIT lol you just held Strong's up....lol 😍 The Strong's is a great way to take a scripture or a few and pick it apart so you get a deep look at the meaning

I have the Matthew Henry commentary; if you don't make it to the gym, you can use that commentary as a substitute. 😁
We also have the Halley's and Vine's books in common. And I can see "The Case for Faith" by Lee Strobel on your shelf in the background; I have that, too, but haven't read it yet. Bible study can be challenging, fun, but always rewarding. You asked for "Go to" resources, here are some of mine: I use "The New Strong's Expanded Dictionary of Bible Words" often; it includes some of Vine's work as well. There's "The Holman Bible Commentary" (OT and NT), which is NIV-based. The NIV isn't my favorite translation, but this commentary is quite helpful, especially when preparing Sunday school lessons. I also have and use Strong's Concise Concordance at work, where I do some lesson preparation during lunch. It's good to see you getting into your Bible study; it has me smiling on the inside. It's unfortunate that there aren't more Christians who are willing to dive in as you do. I've heard many times that one of the greatest challenges to the church is Biblical illiteracy. It's important to know what you believe and why you believe it.

The Halley's Bible handbook looks like a fantastic resource! I'm intrigued by the Henry commentary- I'm finding the older commentaries/authors tend to be so much more faithful to the Bible. I've been saying my next theology purchase will be a dictionary of the Hebrew/Greek words, so I'll definitely look into the Vine's and Strong's...I think Strong's is just what I want to complete nerd out.
Basically, I just want all these books 😂Thank you for this video!!!

Speaking of wandering, Stacy - you can wander and roam about the whole world physically, through travel, which many consider to be the best form of education; or, you can wander mentally and spiritually, through philosophy and religion, and reading books about them, which is virtual wandering - nowadays, you can even surf the worldwide web online, and that's also virtual wandering. And both physical as well as virtual / mental / spiritual wandering relate to the Ninth House in astrology, which is called the House of Long Journeys. As a Christian, you might resent the intrusion of astrology into our dialogue, but that's the way it is.

The Holy Land Illustrated Bible, The Cultural Background Bible, The Archaeological Study Bible, The NLT Illustrated Study Bible, The Thompson Chain Reference Bible, The Old and New Testament set of The Bible Knowledge Commentary, and a good Bible Atlas (mine is the Rose Now and Then Bible Atlas).

Hi Stacy! Thank you so much for sharing this video. I love to find out about different Bible study books. One that I can recommend is called The Bible Handbook by The Daily Grace Co. It gives background info about each book of the Bible such the writer, time period, major themes, key words and key verses, an introduction, an outline of the chapters, and sometimes a map and other things pertaining to that particular book. It broadens my understanding of each book before I read it. I would love to hear your testimony as well when you are ready to share it. God Bless You!

It's great to see a sister in Christ studying to show themselves approved to God. I would just caution, Matthew Henry and Spurgeon are Augustinian/Calvinistic in their soteriology which is not biblical, contrarywise the bible says; "God is not willing that none perish but that all shuld come to repentance".
Please exercise discerment when using any commentary.
    God bless!

The differences in the gospels are actually contradictions. Harmonizing the gospels is not a good idea. Read gMark separately and the rest separately. gMark is copied 90% in gMatthew, 77% precise writing and embellishes the stories. Also, the authors of the gospels are anonymous. Happy studying!
