This is the first hack I ever saw, and I still remember finding it. I was looking for Infinite Lives Glitches when I stumbled upon this. I still remember being ecstatic and slightly confused. After reading the description, you would think I would be disappointed. But no, not at all! I was more delighted that ever at the prospect of SMW hacking and level creation. And not only SMW, but dozens upon dozens of other games. This video introduced me to the ROM Hacking community, and without it, I would still be stuck trying to speedrun this game over and over. I just came here to thank you.
You inspired me to search around. I found a page on the Mario wiki which talks about various "beta elements" that didn't make it into the game, and has a vague mention of some "test cartridges"... I'd love to see one! Searching for "beta rom" reveals some interesting results...
@Danjib Thank you very much man! Yes, it could be the case. I'll see if I can do something about that the next time I work on it! And thank you very much for answering me! Respects/handshake! And happy to see that there are still people who enjoy those good old games! :))))

+Chillahbyte 32 I agree. Mario Maker builds in a lot of tools you don't see in Lunar Magic, but it will never compete with the level of control you have with ROM Hacking. I think I'll always like them more than MM.
Funny thing is, the original release of SMW which came with the SNES actually had a giant warp star on that little island. Originally, once you found EVERY exit, it would be unlocked. But in later releases, it was removed. Dunno why.
How is standing there watching a koopa shell obliviously collide with people good for adding extra lives? It's just funny as hell. The LOL's of such a scene like that will make you live longer and happier.
You need to use the Overworld menu. There are only a few "spare" level numbers: 17, 19, 139, 13A, 13B, 112. You should be able to place one of these. Otherwise you just have to edit the existing levels.
Before you comment "OMG THIS IS FAKE IT SUCKS FNFBDJFJGDDJJ", please understand that this is a ROM hack of the game, so of course it won't be in the base game. Please take some time to read the description of this video for more info. Danjb, can you please pin this to keep those comments from being posted?
This is what Super Mario Maker should be like, where you can use ALL of the enemies, blocks, platforms, music, stage elements, etc. from the original games. And you should be able to string all of your level creations together by designing a map and making a whole game out of it. There are over a hundred level slots for the actual game so why not?!. Though Mario Maker is a fun game and I have gotten much use out of it, it could be so much better and a lot more interesting. Nintendo always manages to miss the mark with everything they make, by overdoing certain things and underdoing others. Despite Mario Makers flaws and shortcomings, it is one of my favourite games of all times. But that is only because I've wanted to make my own Mario levels ever since 1993 when I was playing Super Mario All Stars, and I am not much for using these level builders on computer as I don't trust downloading them onto my computer, and I hate playing any game with a keyboard or those clunky computer controllers.
Deanobucko917 The downfall to SMW though is that you’re limited to certain graphics, you can’t use all enemies at once like you can with SMM2, ExGFx helps but not enough
me impresiono mas la forma como lo pasaba el nivel, y no sabia que existía ese nivel pero que tal juega ese brother, ya lo conoce de memoria el área xD
@Danjib Thank you sooooo much! I finally have the hack, and I can complete just about everything in there, including getting to the Super Secret 1-Up factory! Thanks!
You don't need a factory, you have a secret one up level at your first ghost house and one free yoshi also you have the star road for every kind of yoshi you like at the 2nd ghost house.
@Danjib I managed to download WinRar and the super mario game and emulater, and I followed the correct steps to run SMW, but it came up an error saying I need a 64 bit computer. At that point, I was oblivious at what just happend. But thanks for the help you're giving me!
Obviously, but it's hard to find someone with the original release of the game. Any videos about that island are all done with mods/hacking. I was 3 or 4 when I first watched my great-uncle beat every exit and unlocked the giant warp star. I remember once finding a key in that secret ice level via the secret doughnut ghost house. By the last pipe next to the exit tape thing, I flew up above the pipe with Yoshi but the camera did not follow, when I came back down, Yoshi had a key in it's mouth.

That lone green island must've been the biggest Nintendo company troll against the player, back in the day. How many players must've tried fancy tricks for hours on end, even on the yellow-dotted areas nearest the island (Top Secret Area, Donut Plains 3, etc.), thinking they would have uncovered something mega-cryptic. I can practically hear a game developer saying: "Hey.... let's put this island up here, ABOVE Top Secret Area... and see just what the secret enthusiasts do when they play." Nonetheless, this hack is pretty much the representation of what we, as hopeful players imagined we would be uncovering, if anything was up there officially.
Good job buddy! I also started hacking this game with Lunar Magic and I got some troubles with some keyhole at some point. It was on my map, but when I was playing the game, it would not appear at the spot it should be. Did I do something wrong? Did it ever happen to you while editing your levels? :)

Ive always loved the stars shining in the background on some of the stages of super mario world. Something so beautiful and satisfying about them!
I just now realized that the music slightly changes when you jump on a Yoshi, no matter the stage music.
The only level where the music doesn’t change is on the sunken ghost ship, which is the only ghost place Yoshi will enter.
