I don't know what is more worrying. The fact I just sat here and watched over 2 hours of classic TV ads, and enjoyed it. Or the fact I remembered each and every one of these ads once they began playing.
Awwwww wasn't everything soooo much simpler .... if you are 40 and above you will watch this and then sound like your parents .... I remember when.... etc etc thank you for the memories
@Johny2bikes A day off from _what_ exactly? Detesting self-serving arseholes? Sorry, simply not possible, it's built in. And ya know, sometimes, a shoulder chip is entirely justified.
These adverts take me back and I remember most of them thank you 🙏 for sharing these adverts made me smile when I had nothing to watch love ❤️ to see more of these
Takes me back to my childhood Thank you for posting this. Sometimes you remember the adverts more than the shows. Watching this I just relived my childhood in Scotland. These do bring back some memories.
LOVE these old adverts - the eightees were the best - especially love Dr. House, aka Hugh Laurie, advertising the Polaroid camera. Thanks so much for uploading xxxx.
"Smooth talking bar steward" only Mr Fry could have delivered that line! 2+ hours of pure nostalgia. many thanks for this post. A bit of TOTP as well....the tape must have stopped or over-ran, the joy of VHS.! Many thanks again
I think some of the ads might be from the 70's too, or VERY early 80's. But just great to watch them again, lots of forgotten memories. Thank you for taking the time to compile, it must have been quite task.
These are the days when you knew straight away ,what they were advertising.Nowadays you have to get to the end of an advert ,before you know what it's about.
What an epic collection. A large chunk of my childhood in these ads and (largely) untouched by recent scandals. Interesting to see how unsophisticated ads are compared to modern big budget affairs.
ud miss the moby fone also self drive cars LoL The gear change on that HotHatch that you flared the arches on, throw in bucket seats and an Autoreverse Cassette player ud got from a m8 .. those days when u carried a tool kit in the car, just incase. Well bound to use em.... wouldnt u, 13s ratchet please
Amazing sociological and historical interest here, but above all, this surely represents what must be an all time zenith in terms of creativity in advertising
Its 2019, and i HATE adverts. This however, blast from the past and wonderful.. All we need now is some blakes 7 and adventure game! Thanks for posting
1:02:00 Incredible! just seen the K-Tel ad for Marc Bolan's best of 20th Century Boy double LP. First time i'd seen it. Been looking for a reasonably priced best of vinyl of his stuff so, straight off to ebay to pick 1 up😃. Basically a 40yr old ad has influenced me to buy something in 2023! how's that for marketing.
Technology's certainly moved forward a lot since then, I bought a laptop in the sale with far more memory than that for less than that (far less than that in today's monetary terms). It had an 8 Gigabytes RAM and 1 Terrabyte hard drive.
It just goes to prove how much the TV was on in the house. People used to talk about adverts or be singing or whistling a tune from one. Now no one talks about adverts or TV shows for that matter. I find it rather sad.
My step dad bought me a commodore 64 for xmas.I didn't even ask for a computer. It was for him, not me! You had to load the "cheese" cassette in order for the mouse to work!
Wow.....the power of subliminals, the number of times I was finishing off the dialogues on adverts that I haven't seen for over 30 years!! Enjoyable but scary stuff!😕
I remembered the words to so many I havn't seen since, Makes you think Mind you when i hear a song i like for the first time by the second I've usually got most of the lyrics in my head.
SuperJeegee. Thanks for your comment... Mars bar 15p those were the days... Altho I remember Cadbury's curly wurly being 5p, and polo mints costing 8p. How times change !
I don't remember so many ads partly because when I was a child my parents watched BBC. The ads I do remember a special K Fruit and Fibre Bran Flakes, Start, Coco Pops Frosties, Honey Nut Loops, Mars Twix Um Bongo Terry's All Gold Milk Tray, Roses and Vienetta . I remember Vision cookware as my paternal aunt by marriage (then in her 40s) had a set of saucepans . My uncle had used Old Spice my dad used Aramis and my elder brother had Brute 33. My mum had rive Gauche a perfume that had a black blue striped bottle. and Oil of Ulay moisturising cream We used Pares Soap but I also remember Knights Castile and Camay. I remember Shield being the soap in my late step- grand father's bathroom. I also remember Bold 3 Automatic as this was the washing powder my mum used in the washing machine, my late nan used Ariel and her late neighbour used Daz. My dad smoked Villigar cigar while other relatives and family members smoked either Superkings cigarettes or More cigarettes.
Great post thank you, really enjoyed it. Those American adds all that cheering and high fives is sickening but I loved seeing the old adds I remembered as a kid
I started feeling all nostalgic but after a few minutes I genuinely thought, 'these ads have been on a while'. You expect to be surprised how cheap everything was but an Atari Console for £200 plus £20 per cartridge, for games like Space Invaders. That was a huge amount of money in the 80's! The main thing that struck me watching these though, although I'm pretty sure no one noticed at the time and it's only cos of what we know now, but at 53:22, after delivering the line, 'This is the age of the train', have you ever seen a more creepy smile in your life?
I remember an advert where a man is walking up a hill in a dark, wet English village and goes into a pub. He nods to the barman, who pours him a pint. As he sips at it musingly, he hears his name being repeated over and over and the background goes wavy. The scene changes to a turquoise bay with a yacht moored. The camera zooms in to the deck to focus on the subject who is just waking up with a beautiful woman shaking him. His first words are, "I've just had a wonderful dream". Can anyone tell me what this was, and if it's recorded anywhere?
My personal faves are "Bodyform" and "Salon Selectives". Don't know if they're on here yet as I've only listened on my way home from work. Twice now. Hope they are.
The old adds are more entertaining than the TV programmes are now.
They really weren’t
Block the style u
I don't know what is more worrying.
The fact I just sat here and watched over 2 hours of classic TV ads, and enjoyed it. Or the fact I remembered each and every one of these ads once they began playing.
Steve you must have spent many hours watching tv back in the 80s and 90s then 😅
These are the commercials we hated and wished we could skip back in their day, but now are funny and nostalgic 😆
It’s funny how we may go years without seeing or hearing something, but the minute we encounter it again, we remember instantly
Awwwww wasn't everything soooo much simpler .... if you are 40 and above you will watch this and then sound like your parents .... I remember when.... etc etc thank you for the memories
Well said bang on.
@@andy6576 thaterism worked for some. Very popular in my household thanks
Yep!
@Johny2bikes A day off from _what_ exactly? Detesting self-serving arseholes? Sorry, simply not possible, it's built in. And ya know, sometimes, a shoulder chip is entirely justified.
Andy wots sup with you...
Did you really Not invest in ur own future when u was told to do, back in the 80s
Nice to see Adds with real people in unlike the ones from now.
I think we all know what we are saying here. 😂
These adverts take me back and I remember most of them thank you 🙏 for sharing these adverts made me smile when I had nothing to watch love ❤️ to see more of these
Thanks for that GREAT trip down memory lane. Everything so much simpler back then
Using adblocker yet watch ads, crazy. But the old ads were quality.
same here but for me its a walk down memory lane for me as a 80s kids, the day of 4 channels and no 24hr news
@@dtvfan24 happy times when things were definitely better.
Sat here skipping ads to watch ads 😂
😂
Takes me back to my childhood
Thank you for posting this. Sometimes you remember the adverts more than the shows. Watching this I just relived my childhood in Scotland. These do bring back some memories.
Great trip down memory lane, thank you. Good to see the man who singlehandedly raised the funds for the national spinal injuries unit too.
Best decade & the best days ever!!! I miss the 1990s!!! 😭😭😭😭
So many good memories from start to finish of these ads. Thankyou
LOVE these old adverts - the eightees were the best - especially love Dr. House, aka Hugh Laurie, advertising the Polaroid camera. Thanks so much for uploading xxxx.
Quality!
Nostalgic ❤
"Smooth talking bar steward" only Mr Fry could have delivered that line! 2+ hours of pure nostalgia. many thanks for this post. A bit of TOTP as well....the tape must have stopped or over-ran, the joy of VHS.! Many thanks again
Thanks so much for putting this together. I enjoyed every minute of it. Brought back so many memories of my childhood. Brilliant.
Thanks for the time and effort it obviously took to comprise.Countless memories brought back.😁
I think some of the ads might be from the 70's too, or VERY early 80's. But just great to watch them again, lots of forgotten memories. Thank you for taking the time to compile, it must have been quite task.
thanks to whoever put these on. but jesus they make me feel old...only to be watched when drunk...
These are the days when you knew straight away ,what they were advertising.Nowadays you have to get to the end of an advert ,before you know what it's about.
The days when adverts were entertaining and way better than the tosh that is on tv these days…
Arguably the best TH-cam video in history. Well done!
Probably! 🍺 Although the Spectrum advert could have done with old Jet Set himself on it!
Gosh...the telephone box one, makes you think...how far have we come!
How far backwards have we drifted into AI hell
What an epic collection. A large chunk of my childhood in these ads and (largely) untouched by recent scandals.
Interesting to see how unsophisticated ads are compared to modern big budget affairs.
Thank you for compiling this . Amazing.
Just watched the whole lot - thanks for posting!
That was highly enjoyable thanks for taking the time to put it together. I was born 1984 so I could recall a few
bring back the good old days :)
Indeed
True memories hey
ud miss the moby fone also self drive cars LoL
The gear change on that HotHatch that you flared the arches on, throw in bucket seats and an Autoreverse Cassette player ud got from a m8 .. those days when u carried a tool kit in the car, just incase. Well bound to use em.... wouldnt u, 13s ratchet please
Why? There was no WiFi then. You must want innocence over progress
thanks for putting this together....just brilliant to see these again after all this time...
Cheers
Chris...
I love the 70s and 80s adverts are the best!
Robert Powell was definitely in more adverts than anyone I can think of.
Such a voice!
Ray Brookes as well, I couldn't believe how many times I recognised his voice on ads.
Fantastic. Today’s advertising isn’t a patch on this.
ONLY ONE THING WRONG WAS THE INTER CITY AD WITH THAT KIDDIE FIDDLING CIGAR MUNCHING NONSE
Man, it really is like taking a trip down memory lane.... seems like such a different time then.
made me love my childhood, great telly and only 4 channels
Thank you so much for uploading this
Brought back so many memories
Just shows ad's were so much better back then than they are today
That soothing voice and distorted music
These bring back memories which must have been dormant for many years
Amazing Memories, Thank you.
Oh heaven. Dictation you could cut glass with, clever writing and laugh out loud moments. Rare occurrences with TV generally now!
Now we get slang/chavs saying Wicked bro
I wish the ads nowadays had the same brand of people on them like on these old ads
I think we all know what we're talking about!
@craiglittle1437 Exactly 👍
Very good compilation, don't remember most of them, but most are short and to the point, unlike now where each bleedin ad seems to go on forever.
Excellent nostalgia trip
Having not seen the bisto ad for 30 years i still knew the words to never in a month of sundays lol
You can't beat bistro in a month of, Sundays!!!!!!
Busting even ... sorry about the typo
B I s to.
Lewis Loves gaming123 O X O
the game, not the cube
Brilliant collection thx for uploading
Amazing sociological and historical interest here, but above all, this surely represents what must be an all time zenith in terms of creativity in advertising
Not to mention budgets. That AA ad at the very start can't have gone cheap. And how much did Edmonds want to shill for Austin?
Ha! Ian Dury! "Hello Tosh! Got a Toshiba!" Brilliant!
And the Stephen Fry's "...Smooth Talking Bar Steward"! Nice! =oD
Never forget never forgive, what they have taken from us.
😢❤ I feel it. My children don't understand
15p For a large bar of MARS....someone put me in a fucking time machine
AYE I CAN REMEMBER THAT LOOK WHAT CHARGE FOR A FUCKING MARS BAR TODAY AND THEY DONT TASTE THE SAME ANYMORE
Its 2019, and i HATE adverts. This however, blast from the past and wonderful.. All we need now is some blakes 7 and adventure game! Thanks for posting
Loads of fond memories thanks :)
Robert Powell, Richard Briers, Anthony Valentine, David de Keyser, Geoffrey Palmer, Joss Akland and Ray Brooks...the voices of a thousand adverts!
Used to groan when the ads came on. Still do. But still watching these.
OK, it is all making sense now. I am a freak because of watching these adverts as a child. What chance did I have???? Damn you television!!
Is it ironic that I'd have been annoyed if there was an ad from youtube halfway through...? Haha!
I want to go back!
Had forgotten just how many Dulux paint adverts there were on the tv in the 1980's!
Many upper class people used to have those old English sheepdogs prior to those ads ,but that made `em `to common`.
timlangham1 ah the good old durex dog
Wow, that Commodore 64 with the massive 64kb memory!
And £260 quid too!!
Technology's certainly moved forward a lot since then, I bought a laptop in the sale with far more memory than that for less than that (far less than that in today's monetary terms). It had an 8 Gigabytes RAM and 1 Terrabyte hard drive.
That was pretty significant for the time, especially at that price point. Consider that the Acorn BBC B only had 32k and that was 400 quid.
In 10 years 500GB will be small
Warren Francis it already is
It just goes to prove how much the TV was on in the house. People used to talk about adverts or be singing or whistling a tune from one. Now no one talks about adverts or TV shows for that matter. I find it rather sad.
Erm ...the John Lewis festive ad's?!
Old but Gold! Thank You!
I never would have thought at the time, but I miss those ads. They are so depressing our days. I Block mine or skip as soon as possible.
The memories.... so sweet 😋
Mike Berry was in the AMEX commerical. he would later be seen in Are You Being Served
I can remember watching those Ads,from the 90's,they conveyed their messages through entertainment, media, etcs.
amazing upload!
What a collection!!
These are great
My step dad bought me a commodore 64 for xmas.I didn't even ask for a computer. It was for him, not me! You had to load the "cheese" cassette in order for the mouse to work!
44:18 "We asked Judith Chalmers what she thought of our new tyres" - LIKE SHE'D GIVE A FUCK LMAO!!!!
Thank you for doing this :)
Wow.....the power of subliminals, the number of times I was finishing off the dialogues on adverts that I haven't seen for over 30 years!! Enjoyable but scary stuff!😕
The light Ditto @Julian Alstin EEK lol
I remembered the words to so many I havn't seen since,
Makes you think
Mind you when i hear a song i like for the first time by the second I've usually got most of the lyrics in my head.
16:14
That advert and more specifically Ruth Maddox used to make me feel like smashing up the T.V.
Loved whisper bars though 😁
Great collection, Thanks :-)
Thanks for the post 📫 my friend.😊❤
Wow - memory lane!
The old AA advert, when they could actually fix a car by the roadside
I wanna go back...
I had to watch so, so many ads to finally finish this video
Best advertisements ever.
From an owner of an ad agency.
SuperJeegee. Thanks for your comment... Mars bar 15p those were the days... Altho I remember Cadbury's curly wurly being 5p, and polo mints costing 8p. How times change !
amigajunkie Brilliant Brilliant and Brilliant entertainment ◇◇◇◇◇
I remember when Polos were 5p and you could get 2 chews for 1p.
Back when life was so simple.
And soooo much better/happier
Did i seriously watch that whole thing... what am I doing with my life
Same as... 😕
Ha ha me too.....
me too.....
lol... same..:-( haha
Ted Fein thats what was thinking. Need to get my life in order. No joke.
Lol back then we weren't forced to pretend that every family in Britain was mixed race
Forgot about the national anthem being played when TV used to stop broadcasting just after midnight.
I don't remember so many ads partly because when I was a child my parents watched BBC. The ads I do remember a special K Fruit and Fibre Bran Flakes, Start, Coco Pops Frosties, Honey Nut Loops, Mars Twix Um Bongo Terry's All Gold Milk Tray, Roses and Vienetta . omg, i remember dont forget to switch off your television set and sleep tight god bless...lol
Great post thank you, really enjoyed it. Those American adds all that cheering and high fives is sickening but I loved seeing the old adds I remembered as a kid

Andy Jones : That sounds a lot closer to what I expected. I was just going off the price they gave on the ad
22:00 Colgate ad, Im 99% sure the kid in that advert is Terry Crane whom I went to junior school with in Waltham Abbey, Essex. He'll be around 50 now
Too right, it was a thorough punishing. Public awareness adverts didn't mess about in the 80's. I think it was John Noakes
Fantastic......where did it all go.... :-) time machine please :-) what happened to roll breeze ..????
jayyyysus...the Maxwell House ad had the most amazing OTT song ever.....
I miss those days.
16:14 Hi-Di-Hi campers! Superb ad 👍
Just goes to show how bad the adverts are today. Back then, they were entertaining and oh so memorable :3
they were just as stupid and boring as they are today
I agree, not to mention more creative and artistic as the animated adverts by the Richard Williams Studio proved.
My personal faves are "Bodyform" and "Salon Selectives". Don't know if they're on here yet as I've only listened on my way home from work. Twice now. Hope they are.
Isn't that the late great Richard Kiel in the shredded wheat ad?
I remember Roll Breeze which you put in the toilet rolls my Grandparents had them.
Jimmy Savile told us to take the train, while he took liberties.
At 1:27 Robert Maxwell guarantees us a chance at 1,000,000 GBP. Lol.
Does anyone have a list of the time positions of each advert and which product/service they relate to?
