I'm really glad you're doing RWBY today of all days. October 31 is not only Halloween, but it's Ruby's birthday too. Let's wish our favorite Huntress a happy birthday. In all seriousness, I'm glad you're sticking with the series and enjoying it as much as you are. In case it's not clear, Blake and Sun docked at Menagerie ' unofficial Capitol city, Kuokuana. While it's geography and history lines up with Aboriginal Australia, Menagerie's culture is more a blend of East Asian and Polynesian cultures, specifically Hawai'i and Samoa. And you've now met Blake's parents. They're a little rough around the edges, but Blake is the only member of Team RWBY to have 2 parents who are both alive and good people. This is Kali and Ghira Belladonna. Both of their names are shades of black and "Belladonna" carries the same shades of purple that Blake wears. The two WF messengers introduced are Fennec and Corsac Albain. Their last name comes from a Welsh word meaning "white" or "snow-covered" in contrast with the Belladonna's association with black. Ghira is certainly a faunus, and you can see his trait in his design if you look close enough. His character is a reference to a specific popular book that hasn't been referenced yet. I don't want to spoil too much but the name is a big hint, and there's a commonality between the whole Belladonna family.
just saying that is 1 character point I dislike, is that Blake comes from a stable family and dare I say wealthy, it just doesn't fit in with how she had to survive outside the kingdoms and learnt how to fight as she said. Menagerie feels more like the shire where it is completely unburdened by the world of men
Gira Belladonna is like the highest ranking Faunus. Chieftain of Faunus village and former High Leader of the White Fang. Like she said at the end of volume 1, she was almost born into it. She hides the fact that she comes from power very well
17:10 Fennec and Corsac are types of foxes, which they are named after. Also, you could say they are the proverbial "fox(es) in the henhouse" based on their scene at the end (that being someone who either covertly works against the interest of a group or organization OR is an enemy infiltrator.)
It is subtle enough you missed it, but there have been THREE White Fangs mentioned in this episode if you know what to look for. White Fang (Alpha version) - Ruled by Blakes dad Ghira, the origional White Fang was a "Peaceful political organization." Broadly equivalent to Martin Luther King Jr. (I say broadly because I'm only moderately familiar with the history of the time period.) White Fang (Main) - Ruled by Khan, the current white fang is more broadly related to the Malcom X style of civil rights, using every means - including violence - to achieve parity with the humans, forcing them to see both species as equal. White Fang (Adam Splinter) - ruled by Adam, the splinter group follows him as a 'cult of personality' and is generally far more aggressive then even the Black Panthers. They do not seek equality, but domination. To Adam's faction, humans MUST either be subservient, or dead. Blake was a member of ALL THREE at different times of her life. As a child, she was an (underage) founding member of the Alpha version. Took it in with her mothers milk you might say. As a young teen (13-15?) she ran away with Adam to join the Main branch. And as Adam started to splinter his Vale branch away from the Main, she continued to follow him because of his personality (and that they were dating. And he was over 18, which is a WHOLE 'nother conversation.) However, as the Splinter Fang started to establish themselves as killers, and as Adam showed that he was at the forefront of the human murder, she realized that she group she was in was far too extreme, and left the group altogether. (And before people start screaming SPOILERS, most of this info can be figured out from a combination of this episode, and the last episode of Volume 1 where she talked about being a kid doing protests, then moving on to destroying 'shops that refused to serve Faunus'. Once you realize that "our old leader stepped down" means "my dad decided to stop being an active member of what was becoming a terrorist organization", it becomes more obvious what happened during the time period; she is afraid of her mother rejecting her because she ran away from home to stay with the White Fang.)
16:04 Ghira Belladonna is his name. We never fully see enough of him as an animal to deduce what he is, but his name should sound to you like the name of another animal from The Jungle Book. Also, with The Jungle Book in mind, there's another animal that was mentioned today. The new high leader is called Sienna Khan. With those names and The Jungle Book in mind, add two plus two, get animals.
1 thing they don't mention is Blakes arc doesn't happen at the same time as the girls and all their arcs aren't necessarily happening at same time (a good example is its daytime when where with ruby then it cuts to Weiss at night then back to ruby at day), Blakes arc is more immediately after the season 3
21:09 What is Blake's fairytale? Faunus don't really HAVE to be a real world animal (though I think almost every single one is), they just carry a sort of animalistic trait.
@@shanemiller6114 that's not really accurate. The *ONLY* thing that has ever been specified/clarified from CRWBY is that Faunus have an animalistic trait - everything beyond that is fan speculation. Though still, what I said was perhaps a bit off-the-mark. I think the more important question in regards to Ghira isn't what type of Faunus he is, but rather what fairy tale he is.
@@Belisarii1 Blake's allusion is "Beauty and the Beast" and Ghira's allusion is "Jungle Book" taken from the character "Bagheera" who happens to be a Black Panther.
3:17 Not sure if you've noticed, but aside from Zwei and the fish that Blake ate at the tournament (the one that Pyrrha paid because Weiss's card got declined), we don't see ANY animals in the show (unless you count the Grimm).
There were birds in a previous volume and their flight formation was an homage to Monty so it formed his signature when they were flying in the direction of the sun.
FINALLY CAUGHT UP uhhhhgh its been nice to find another reactor to watch, so many RWBY reactions are hit or miss but ive been loving your vibe!!! cant wait to see your reactions to what i know is coming
5 years before being Chieftain of Kuokuana, Ghira was the High Leader of the White Fang, back when it was an organization with pacificist methods behind it's goal of equality. The current High Leader, Sienna Khan, has adopted more aggressive methods, fighting back when it's necessary, nothing to the extreme extents that Adam has taken it.
so off topic but while the pig from journey to the wests real name is bhaji sun and his group give him the nickname Piggsy if you really want something simple to call him use that its what I know him by

Yea I didn't get the vibe that her and Weiss are pretty much on par with each other at all

4:24 i feel like if they were allowed to swear, blake would have said “we were given an island and told to fuck off”
Absolutely
shoutout to the bisexual flag in between blake and sun during their conversation at the start of this episode
there is one? I don't see it
12:07 "white claw" as im taking a sip of my black cherry white claw 😅
Changing the name to the White Claw? I'd drink to that.
There's a reason I didn't say that 🤣
Loved this arc starting here cause oh yeah it makes thing very nice!
19:50 Yes, it's Tyrian.
17:14 Fennec, not Fennel. Yes, the C looks like an L. It's a type of fox.

Yeah, the music rights situation with RWBY music is all messed up right now. Didn't used to be a problem for reactors.
Yea its crazy cause it didn't start till like a month ago
