The hardest character to play is the justification of spending more than $20 on a game from 2006. Seriously though, don’t buy the dlc. The shit was free back then.
Different kinds of difficult. Akira has ridiculous inputs. Vanessa has two full move lists. Shun Di is like Jamie on crack for drinks and moves. There's "straightforward" characters, but there's also a lot of different ways characters can be a challenge in this game. Also, even if Akira doesn't have a lot that leaves him back turned, it comes up a lot in matches, so everyone has a moderate number of tools. Some a lot more than Akira. edit: Li Fei is basically Maxi without the nunchucks. You like stances? Circle through 7 freakin' stances that naturally connect into each other. What kinda difficult character would you like?!?
I think Vanessa loses some points just because there’s a clear distinction between her stances. You’re either going for this, or you’re going for that. Lei Fei is bit harder because his moves blend into each other
You know what I'm hoping they keep in in the new one? Ring outs. It's such a forgotten mechanic since 3D fighters have been in a weird spot for a long time
There are ring outs in SC, so it's 2 out of 4 among the biggest franchises, pretty fair i think. And SC had a release in every generation up to the ps4. So ring outs not rare or only last seen a long time ago... but it just happens that the only successful and growing 3d fg is TK, that coincidentally lacks it. No big deal. Anyways, i also hope ring outs are not removed.
Changing the topic a little bit, i also hope the VF devs bring back the "irregular" stages from the time of VF3 (also done in T4). Now that's a true forgotten feature. They just need to have a set of "regular" stages meant for competition. The 3d fg companies turned down their original goal of exploring the current technology to the best of their abilities, for the sake of the competitive aspect. I disagree with the idea... everything would be fine if they just had a couple of regular stages for the competition. It's amazing how those professionals failed to come to that conclusion in the 00s. So their solution was completely abandon the idea, slow down the technology progress in the 3d genre, just because the fgc criticised those stages in VF3 and T4. The same fgc that usually prefers to compete in a simple training stage.
electric is way kinder. it's the first PEWGF fs tho. I set my pad up for the game way different in order to be able to do them consistently. I'm now able to do them 4 out of 10 times. still bad, but way better
One of the things that makes Akira difficult to play is that he tends to be super linear and easy to step (and his tools to deal with that are throws and semi-circulars). Nobody you played is evading at all, which... well, if everything's going in a straight line, Akira's terrifying.
VF is my favorite 3d fighter for sure but i do think a lot of the inputs really show how specifically designed for traditional joystick the series is. i'm having a great time on leverless cause it doesn't aggravate my RSI nearly as much as stick does, but there's a few commands that make me wish i was using stick
I used to knee on the pad by holding two fingers poised over kg, and doing a quick scratch/scrape motion with both fingers, just make sure the first finger barely grazes guard with your fingernail while the second can just scrape it normally. Top players can use it in a match. The knee you get without the 1 frame execution is kinda crappy but will prolly hit in situations where the 'just frame' knee would hit. Look up homestay akira to see a god of execution. PS: df+K might be the closest equivalent to a confirmable low forward.
I would add that he's the hardest execution-wise, but his gameplan is actually much simpler than a lot of other characters. You just need crazy consistency to be able to utilize his best tools properly.
There is no point in this separation, as you can't use gameplan outside of execution part, as both of them part of one system. Overall Akira is hardest character in this game. Only people, who can't really utilize his whole moveset can say he is easy.
Homestay akira actually did a video a while back showing how to do knee on stick, including handcam on the buttons: 提膝弾腿(旧:独歩頂膝)の出し方について【VFes/VF5US】 th-cam.com/video/t6G5cgYSGC8/w-d-xo.html He basically just barely scrapes the right edge of the guard button with the top of his thumbnail. Also, he turns his thumb so the left side is facing down, then slides right as his hand comes down.
I think it probably won't be exactly this way. And i must say it's not a good idea to keep making games like this in the current era. VF5 is from the mid 00's and it belongs to a very different developer culture, community culture, and market from now. Now i don't exactly mean it must be turned into T8. Just that it's hard to make a modern fg with a competitive potential (commercially) that is identical to VF5. Besides, Sega must be aware of how all these latest games are doing in sales... SF6, T8, GGST, etc.
@@carlosaugusto9821 they will likely make it more casual friendly because thats the majority market base which is why they reduced or outright removed the execution barriers in t8, they went too far on this though. 4:32 it depends on the character. Feng who uses a similar martial art has a similarly large BT moveset Akira doesn't have the same tools for entering back turned, but there are set-ups like jumping over opponents
Akira is overhyped because of the execution on certain moves, but overall, he’s pretty easy to play with a straight forward gameplan. I’d say Eileen is the actual hardest to master due to her many cancels and stance changes. Lei Fei can be pretty complicated too.
This don't make any sence, you can't really split gameplan and execution, because they only work together and can't be used separatly. If you don't count this moves, Akira just streight weak character, who can't really do anything. But this moves are make him quite strong. Anyway from gameplay view Akira play very different from other characters, so its pointless for such comparison. As for hardest complicated - Lei Fei 100% by far hardest, but in really no one can really utilize his potential completely, so its not fair to comparison. Most players try to use interesting characters, who strong and not hardest to play, because been hardest are not mean that they strongest.
Don't think the gbod is actually about accuracy, but it's one of those moves where the timing has to be right and you can os the follow up and then do the follow ups if it comes out.
I've never played VF, is it just impossible to move up or down during pressure to explain all the ring outs? It feels really excessive when you can just...not have your back to the outside so I assume block strings keep you in place?
Very much possible especially for linear moves. In fact, you can side step when you're a bit negative. VF for a while has had a "perfect" dodge mechanic to it. You see it a bunch in this vid. VF in general has a bunch of stuff involving repositioning. But y'know, not info available to people new to the game
The only hard thing about Shun Di is remembering his frame advantage and disadvantages and giving up max damage output for drinks, and that's not saying much. He's just about beginner friendly.
They’re difficult for different reasons, you gotta keep track of a bunch of things when playing shundi, like how many drinks you’re on and what moves are available to you at every moment he’s very tricky but he can be very forgiving. Akira on the other hand has no gimmicks, all his best stuff require precise timing, and he isn’t very forgiving at all, just technically very difficult.
There's some buggy stuff with matchmaking occasionally but there are a lot of people playing yes. There are some vf discord with a lot of players you can ask as well
I disagree with the notion that Akira is the "hardest" character to learn. His moves are almost all single powerful strikes. No need to mess around with long attack strings. The only "hard" thing about him is execution difficulty, which, with a couple exceptions (knee, SPoD), isn't actually all that difficult. I've always found him to be one of the easiest characters to win with.
Akira play very different from other characters. Beside, high level players strife much more and most of Akira moves don't have any tracking, so he need to utilize his hard moves to counter. From you point of view i can say Wolf and McWild much stronger, as they can end match in 2 throws and low rank players don't throw escape that often...
I played a sample of tekken 7 a chunk of tekken 8 and i seem to oddly like virtual fighter 6 and soul calibur 6 more. And this is coming from a street fighter player so i do hope we get a tekken or soul calibur or virtual fighter collection one day.
