Dp deals more damage, yes, but Light tastu gives Ryu better oki, which means you can apply more pressure on your opponent’s wake up. So Most of the time you need to sacrifice damage to get better oki. However, You’ll notice when the opponent is close to the corner, there is no need for Ryu to use Light Tatsu, because DP deals more damage and you will land next to your opponent I hope I answered your question.

I mean if it's an EX attack, then that player definitely earned it. I can understand scaling some of the long drawn out combos but that's definitely not the case with Ryu. Get better with fireballs. Learn how to use them as a poke.
Some players choose Kanzuki's beach bcz the lag for sure
