On the upside, people have a chance to buy pack fresh cards from 7 years ago. And if you did buy cards back in the day, they are worth more now if you want to sell some to buy something else.
OMG! At 1:14 notice that the box Rudy picks has a Wizards logo right at Liliana’s chin. Then at 1:29 you can notice that the Wizard’s logo pattern on the plastic wrap is completely different from the one on the box he picked up. Rudy kept all the foil Lilianas from the first box and released the garbage fire box video! The truth is out, everyone! Reddit is going nuts!
At my local gamestore, we have about 10 shelves of cards which other players didn't want anymore, and you can then pick out cards, 100 for 5$. It's not that bad, accually! I got a few rares, a mythic and a lot of uncommons out of it. You just have to search a bit. Most cards are from the older sets (2004-2015). Not a bad deal if you ask me!

I bought a box of this about 7 years ago for $300 and got snappy, liliana, and a foil liliana! Best box I ever opened! Next best was when I pulled 3 Ulamog the ceaseless hunger from a fat pack, and 2 of them were foil!

I opened 2, maybe 3, boxes of Lorwyn and ended up with a play set of Cryptic Command, and one of the boxes had three in total, one of which is my foil. The duplicates have been real since as far back as Tempest. I used to pull Cursed Scroll after Cursed Scroll.
I appreciate the energy level brought to each and every video Rudy puts out there- it truly is a feat of human potential and I don't think enough people realize the energy it takes to maintain a positive attitude about a game that is produced by a corporation that mistreats their consumer base so regularly and without lube.
Thanks as always for the video. I really don't understand how this set sells for $350.00. Sure it is pretty and there many decent cards but if you are counting on 2 cards to try to recoup your investment (or part of unless they are a foil) it doesn't make sense. Even if you pull both your are looking at about 180 (let's even say 200) of value. You are still have to make up about 150 dollars. For the 350 bucks you could buy both outright and still have money to buy a new booster box and go out for a nice dinner. I know, I know, supply and demand drives the price but sometimes the demand seems out of whack.
God I remember being a Freshman in high school and starting to play Magic the Gathering in 1995 I remember going to the Mirage pre-release tournament in Chicago now I think back to all those cars that used to have and collect yeah they were worth money and I gave them to my brother who lost them all because he did not pay his storage unit fees... I never got any mox's or lotuses some of that ultra rare stuff but I had packs of Legends and Antiquities and Arabian nights that I was sitting on because I would buy them when I go to tournaments and the local card store not a lot of packs but enough where I knew maybe I could get lucky and pull something sweet here I am watching your videos and going back in time thanks
Most of the artists for this set are still working for WotC, Jana Schirmer, Karla Ortiz, Jason Schier, Tyler Jacobson, Svetlin Velinov, all fantastic artist, still working on Magic. Most of them as art directors.
So how does it work>? Someone buys a box from you > you make an unboxing > if its bad - you upload the video < if its good - you keep the cards and make another?
This set was what got me into magic. Today I'm proud to say that I left and never cane back. Whatever Magic is now, it's certainly not the same game in these packs.

Ah, the smell of the cards of the old. When I started playing Magic during the Shards block, the smell of the cards were really something. This continued until the Shadows over Innistrad set, then changed on the succeeding sets. We will never get the same scent ever again.

my buddy and i both split a box of innistrad bright before its recent jump in price. we pulled a lilianna, 2 snapcasters and 5 lands! even though the lands arent much still love me some duelies :D
Man, brimstone volley. I used to love that card. All my snapcasters came from packs actually. I think 2 from the 2 boxes I bought, and 2 from prize packs won at fnm.
This makes me sad that I missed out on Innistrad (had a long break from magic). Now the boxes are out of my price range. Just beautiful artwork and flavor that fit the theme. The card stock quality looks great too.
They stopped doing live drawings, with charcoal and pencils and pastels and actual ink--which always gives art a grittier, more realistic look to it--and instead started using more computer generated art. It's easier to pump stuff out that way, because of all the technology available that cuts the time it takes to finish art projects into fractions of the time it normally would were the artist to draw it out on canvas or parchment. You don't have to be as careful when you draw on the computer. Slipping doesn't damage a canvas when you do it on pixels. It still looks good on the computer, but I think something of the magic is lost in doing it that way.
Totally agree. It's still beautiful art but the CG aided art is markedly different and loses the allure of the classic style. Nostalgia plays a factor but I really think the older expansions have more personality and differences in art styles (Up to the early 2000s they were really jarring, sometimes). When I was a kid and played Magic I wanted more consistency and was more into the "realistic" style, with time I came to appreciate the more "experimental" artists.

I got an Innistrad booster off eBay for $5 had Snapcaster and Lord of Lineage. Was a lucky pull. I kinda regret selling them
