    Help, we just put down mulch and now have tons of flies that stay on the mulch. I have no idea how to get rid of. We used Bug bgone for mosquitoes that worked but not flies. Would appreciate any suggestions

      I have never had that problem. Hmmmm… I assume watering does nothing. You could get a fly trap. We do this to keep flies away from our chickens.

    And a question. Do you need to take some of the old mulch top surface before starting (given you removed all weeds)?

    • @ReluctantDIYers
      @ReluctantDIYers  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Gardenia, I’m my experience, you don’t need to remove a layer. I’ve seen some people make that recommendation, but I’ve never done it and we’ve had great success with our flower beds. I hope this helps! Thanks for watching!

      So much for that, what about termites 🥳

    what is that grass you’re yanking out at 1:38 ? I had it appear all over my flower beds last year. I thought it was a plant or ornamental grass that was in one of my various “flower mix” seeds I bought but it just turned into an ugly weed.
    It is skinny, darker green with a darker line going straight down the middle. And for me it was super easy to pull up while still in that phase. All of my googling i couldn’t figure out what it is.

      I’m not sure of the exact name, but it’s basically a vine grass. If you look deeper under the mulch, you’ll see a vine connecting it to the next growth.

    What about termites and black water bugs??

      Not sure what you mean… are you asking if the mulch attracts them?

    What is the best way to kill weeds and grass? I yank mines out every other week but they keep on growing back out.

    • @ReluctantDIYers
      @ReluctantDIYers  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      The bad news is that there is no perfect way to do this. Unless, you’re willing to pour a ton of chemical into the ground, which will also kill all of your plants. Lol! I have had some success with gardening fabric, but depending on the weed, they can also grow under the fabric, and will eventually find a hole and work their way through. Thistle is a good example of this.
      The best method, in my opinion, is to mulch your garden early in the year and then maintain your weed picking. I hope this helps!

    Hey, little criticism here,
    I just finished washing your garden boarder video and went to this video to see how to create that natural mulch bed. Unfortunately, the information wasn’t as helpful. I want to see if I had to full the trench, or fill halfway but creating a curve of much from the Trench to the first plant. I really wished you put a transition of what to do.
    Overall, the video was very informative and has helped a lot of questions that I have. Thank you

      @@ReluctantDIYers it’s still a very informative and amazing video. I feel like a lot of channels forget to add additional information about mulch because without this video, I wouldn’t know what to do. Thank you and keep up the good work
