These comments on Jerry are so sentimental... He was truly amazing, and I wish he was still here so I could have had a chance to have heard such an amazing voice in my late appreciation for opera.
Well, it is time for a resurgence of great singing. Opera has been in a lull for quite sometime. We had Caruso, Destinn, Battistini, Ruffo etc., then a lull. Then we had DM, Corelli, Tebaldi, Callas, then another lull. Time for another high period!:):)
Hadley reached his vocal height and success under the care of Tom LoMonaco. He voice in the1980's and early 90' was incredible. He was completely undeveloped in the 1970's, just coming out of college.
@MrCafiero He performed a concert at my college in the early 2000's and was absolutely brilliant--I remember being blown away by his acting and interpretation of the songs as well as his beautiful voice.
To the ignorant poster who was very eloquent in his/her critisism of Diana Soviero - try being a bit more constructive rather than plain rude. Ms Soviero has a wonderful voice with acting skills to match. She sang over 100 times at the Met - not too shabby.Have you had a career in singing as good as that?
@@xxsaruman82xx87 No, but she sure was entertaining AF. This is always good for a laugh: th-cam.com/video/F3YTeD71Cwo/w-d-xo.html And just for the record, I love Soviero in this clip. After she lets loose on "Invitato a qui seguirmi," the way she pares down her voice on "Alfredo, Alfredo, di questo core" is just absolutely heartbreaking.
Besides Nucci, Hadley, and Soviero, I see Graves, Charles Anthony, Philip Cokorinos, and Alan Held. I am trying to remember the other man - is it Jeff Mattsey?
При всех достоинствах Хэдли и его коллег эту оперу певали солисты и получше. А вот хор очень хорош. И очень неплох дирижёр - настолько, что я был бы не против найти его имя в описании, что мне сделать не удалось, как ни странно.
Fantastici, incredibili! 💐👏👏👏💥
Wow, Jerry was unstoppable in his prime. Just amazing.
It's not just his excellent singing. Jerry is feeling and projecting Alfredo's anguish. Jerry is always THINKING and FEELING.
What gorgeous voices!
He had incredible technique and surprising performance. How we need singers like him today.
This was just wonderful, I remember seeing Soviero and Hadley many times at NYCO, Those were the days!

This is superb. Soviero sounds wonderful, Jerry Hadley is a great form and Leo Nucci is as reliable as ever. A fantastic trio!
Nucci is tenor
Beauty. To God be the glory!
Fantastic trio!!! Bravo!!! Thanks for excellent post!!!

Bravissimo, Jerry era un Grande!
Hadley was great here. I wish he would return to this!:)
God rest his soul. So talented and so handsome too. How terribly sad.
Thank you for this wonderful video! A pleasure to see and hear! And such a pity Jerry Handley left this world so young!
Always love playing this, the best!!!

Scotto had a great career. Does that make her a great singer?

This is a very poignant scene in this opera. For us knowing the
the tragedy of Hadley it is doubly so.
class singing from Jerry
que tenor mas maravilloso
Great!!!!!!!!
Wow!
Yes that's Jeff.
The singers are Leo Nucci, Jerry Hadley, Diana Soviero, Denyce Graves, Charles Anthony, Phil Cokorinos, Jeff Mattsey, and Alan Held

You are right. And Hampson is there too.
Who was your teacher at U of I? I got my masters there in 1980 and my teacher was Frances Crawford. Sang with Jerry at Washington Opera.
Are you talking to me? I didn't go there, but Jerry and I had the same teacher Tom LoMonaco. Not and U of I. In NYC.
@@SilverSingingMethod Sorry, I misunderstood you.
@@Greatsoprano12 No worries. :)
I think Oswald is there too. LOL!
A. Guadagno conducted...
What way? What happened to him?
Carry that flag!
Alguien me podría decir ¿que relación tiene con Marío del Mónaco? ya que parece que lo escucho

@@SilverSingingMethod Oh, not at all! It's Russian.
Too bad Jerry felt the need to take his own life. Being an artist must be very tortureous at times.
I don't know who you are or who you think Jerry Hadley was, but this description of him could not be further from the truth.
