    Wanda’s arc in this film reminds me of Daenerys in S8. I saw what they were doing, and I guess there were hints of that previously- but I wish there was more time developing it so that it didn’t feel so disjointed.
    Good movie overall, but it didn’t meet my expectations personally. I definitely think the extra 20mins would have helped. The horror sequence was amazing though!
    Overall, I don’t know what I would change, but at the end I left thinking “that was alright”.

    • @DiegoLopez-ft5wd
      @DiegoLopez-ft5wd 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      THIS! I actually said the same thing, they did a Daenerys with her The best and worst part of this movie are both Wanda; if you see her just as this unstoppable force of evil coming to get you, it leads to really cool and intense scenes and action; If you see her as a character and take into account her story, it just doesn't make sense and her turn feels rushed and unearned.
      i think they are trying to have it both ways, by vaguely having the Wanda/ Scarlett Witch as different characters, kind of Jean grey/ Dark phoenix, so they can make her a hero again if they want, which I think is the more lazy coward way to make her bad, they should have committed and develop her character so her change felt natural and tragic.
      Nonetheless the movie is entertaining and a turn off your brain good time, could have been so much better though if they worked more on fixing Wanda's arc.

    This movie was entertainingly frustrating. It was a cameo injected retread of WandaVision with a bigger budget. America Chavez was a fun character but very one note. The CGI was very disjointed. Dr. Strange's potential as the Sorcerer Supreme was missed yet again. As a big fan of the first Dr. Strange I'm disappointed with this sequel. Story beats from the first film are dropped here for multiverse setup. Potentially having to wait another 4+ years for another solo Dr. Strange movie.

  • @slayonce
    @slayonce 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    The movie was very cohesive 😂. Since the start of the movie, there were specific themes and plot elements that were throughout each universe/place they went to. Aside from the great plot with detailed motives for each character, the visual and sound effects of the movie were spectacular. The score was incredible. And I’m a sucker for horror movies and bad ass villains.

    It was a fun movie. A great ride. I guess you can compare this film to Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom, not a great sequel and overwhelming, if that makes sense. I loved Wanda's arc in this film. Wanda has been such a damaged person with so much emotional pain, I'm not surprised she went bat-sh!t. MCU gave us the Dark Phoenix Saga that Fox could never do. I even thought the CGI looked good and it normally sucks in MCU films, the last Spiderman film had crummy CGI. The deaths of the Illuminati was so much fun and surprising that this film went there and showed blood. I loved seeing professor X and hearing the 92 X-Men theme. The yellow wheelchair was ok and a cool call back but it wasn't hovering and it was huge! it wasnt designed well. Prof. X looked like Captain Pike in that yellow box. I thought I would hate America Chavez but she was alright, I was fine that she was the Mcguffin. I was glad seeing Black Bolt and glad that Anson Mount came back to play the character.

    Iron Man 2: Fights a worse engineer and worse businessman than him. Guardians 2: Fights a living planet that a bunch of space pirates can handle. Thor 2: Bruh. Captain America 2: Fights other human beings and one super soldier who at the end saves his life. Ant-Man 2: Fights someone with a degenerative time disease and house arrest. Dr. Strange is the only guy who from day one is fighting opponents better and more powerful than him, and he keeps winning. This time? He has to fight against a crazy lady who isn't fit for multidimensional child custody powered by the most evil artifact in creation, and other versions of himself who were similarly affected by the same artifact. Put some respect on his name.

    I was kinda disappointed with the movie tbh. Too much telling and exposition dumps, too little showing through interactions and definitely a way too lenient use of deus ex machina solutions. Oh and not to forget plot holes or rather inconsistent. Like, why are the damned souls kicked by Christine as if they're physically tangible and then Wanda waves her arms through them? That's just one thing that comes to mind rn.

    This movie was the definition of ok. Nothing in the movie is really great in any way. The plot is all over the place, Dr. strange is kind of a bystander for a lot of it, and the raimi-ish stuff was just fine, nothing special. Seeing some blood and a couple jumpscares doesn't really make a movie unique even if its in the MCU. Kevin feige and co did a pretty heavy lobotomy on this film and it shows. Also bonus points for saying the events of wandavision didn't matter

    I think the whole “you’ve sent us everywhere we need to go” line wasn’t lazy writing, because it wan’t about America at all. It was our universe’s Dr. Strange having an epiphany that trying to control everything is his own major fault. Even Wong says “take her power”, but Dr. Strange turns it into a parenting moment where you have to count on your adult kid to do the right thing and not do it for them. The hardest thing in the world for an egomaniac like younger Dr. Strange would be to allow someone else to step up and save the day.

Her controlling her powers via a pep talk was too easy and didn't feel like real development. I overall liked the movie but I definitely had a few concerns with the writing. The chemistry between Strange and Chavez was unnatural. In just few minutes he started behaving like she’s his daughter. Not to forget the almost non existent character development for Chavez. Even though Wanda was to be perceived as the “villain” here, I couldn’t help but root for her because I can connect to her story on so many levels. And the cliched ending where after a few motivational words Chavez gains the control for her power. It was just too predictable and lacks logic imo. But, there were definitely bits I absolutely loved in this movie. The overall dark horror vibes and the cgi was top notch. I knew there’s a lot of fuss going around with the cameos but it was never promised and people are just ruining their own cup of tea by making too much expectations. The baseless rumours were definitely pushed by the fans on social media eventually leading for the disappointment. It was not a problem for me at all and I was actually amazed by the revelation about Wanda being too op for the Illuminati. Overall, I’d rate it 8/10 considering the room for improvement.

    I watched this movie and was lost. Like every MCU film. Would be great if you could bring out a guide to all the movies, where to start, what sequence to watch, little 10 minutes 'what you should have noticed' vids after each... you could do a series with a film each week... I'd follow that !

      Any movie that's introduced a legacy character so far has done them pretty well, Spiderverse being the big standout. Don't have much hope for Ms Marvel though, and I really wish that everyone's collective memory of RhiRhi Williams would just be wiped and she'd never get brought up by anyone ever again.

      Because it’s the first marvel movie that felt like a directors vision and not a studio assembling line movie, IMO
      It’s not perfect, but it easily has some of the best moments/sequences in the MCU and was one of the most daring. Plus it wasn’t scared to be violent which was a nice change.
      For some reason seeing someone get stabbed with a clean blade takes me out of a movie, more so than something outlandish such as a talking tree or raccoon lol.

      @@nicklannister2063 felt like a Sam Ramai movie first imo before a MCU movie. And this is the only MCU where that felt like the case IMO. Taika Waiti’s Ragnorak is pretty close though or James Gunns GoTG. Though Doctor Strange legit felt like other movies the director has made in the past.
      It’s all subjective, but I stand by my opinion.

    Shout out to Marissa. Yes Wanda already done turned villianese...in Wandavision. Conversely, all the folks with *a problem* how "they did" Wanda dirty... i missed where Chaos Magic was incorporated into a strategy of 3rd wave feminism. She's a witch! NOT a midwife, horribly burned at the stake by the evil madness of true historical patriarchy. There may, (there are) "good" witch stories to be told..but that's not Wanda's story. The real issue here is how Wandavision got to precede this movie, for a dozen different reasons. Having Wanda turn villianese is so convoluted..because.. she created..by Chaos Magic...her children...and they don't exist in the 616...but they're real ( 😳) in other multiverses and to their real ( 😳) mothers in those mulitverses? And real ( 😳 ) because they have to exist somewhere in order to ready for when...New Avengers, Assemble!
