One small correction: if 1 credit pays $100, 2 credits pays $200 and 3 credits pays $800, you definitely go for 3 credits. The number of credits is irrelevant only if the third credit pays $300. Example: assuming $1 per credit, for 1 and 2 credits the payout is 100x. For the third credit, the payout is 266.6x. Big difference.

This is actually a tactic casinos love to help them get more of your money faster on slots, as it basically makes max betting a “slower bleed” on the aforementioned type of slots because of the more frequent pitiful “jackpots” you may hit along the way, but a “slower bleed” on max bets is still going to drain your money much quicker compared to when you’re betting closer to min.

in your first example when you talk about payouts at 04:50, playing 3 credits is way better because it doubles from 400 to 800 but instead of having to play 4 credits you only have to play 3 credits.
