What I predict is happening here, is he’s leaning into the crazy weird mythos and rogues gallery Superman has, it’s obvious they’re not doing a “origin story” in this movie, so I think they’re just gonna start off with big time supervillains and comic book situations, instead of the more realistic superhero stuff we’ve gotten recently. Just a prediction, I’m pretty worried about that too, but I’m confident they’re just gonna have Superman dealing with strange comic book threats in his downtime, while they mostly flesh out Lex Luthor as he sends maybe 1 or 2 villains for hire after him, and then end off with a single big time threat Lex creates/hires to kill Superman. That final big time supervillain will break out of Lex’s control or stop listening to him, attack him, and go rogue for the final battle. And throughout the movie they’ll probably have him already started at the Daily Planet and just build the Lois Clark relationship.

Honestly ever since i was a kid id always think of superman as this tank but fragile at the same time. Like in JL there was alot of him looking all weak once they pulled out a small amount of kryptonite
As much as I liked the Snyder cut, his DCU was going nowhere. Felt very much like a retelling of what we all know, just darker. This looks legitimately cohesive to the comics, and they are pulling out a bunch of villains to show off. Gunn managed to make GOTG mainstream. I will give him some slack on this and hope for the best.
This trailer captured everything Superman stands for without essentially having any dialog! However, it cleverly didn't shy away from the more modern aspects of comicbook storytelling with the division, frustration and inner turmoil that characters have to face without coming off as being polarizing.

I'm not a fan of James gunns film making style because he's too jokey for my taste, but this looks epic. Hopefully , it's 2 and a half hours long!!!

He isn't just comedic. The problem is he made some initial decisions like yeeting a fan favourite actor for the role of superman.
And the new stereotype of "play old theme slowmo for member berries" - which does work mind you.
