Great review...just nothing on the bike is performance driven. I initially thought the Ohlin's suspension came standard on these bikes, but then found out it doesn't. Even though most performance comes out of the front suspension, a nice rear set up would be nice and this bike lacks that. Cosmetically, it has the looks of a performance build. If your just going for the look, this is your bike! If you want performance be ready to shell out a minimum of $8,000 to make it a performance build.
Sadly, I think the ST at this stage is just a marketing gimmick. How does Harley introduce this bike with the Wyman brothers of King of the Baggers and put the same suspension on the bike as the road king and the Limited?!?🤯 It’s great they put a 117 in it but it looks like the 114 is going to be the new standard anyway with the specials coming with 117s once they bump up the CVOs. They took away the two up seat and put a 117 on what would otherwise be a road king standard with a fairing. 🤷♂️ Especially with all these improved after market suspension companies making news. How can Harley put the same suspension on a 30k bike that it puts on an 18k bike. Don’t even get me started on the CVOs. 41k isn’t enough to upgrade the suspension?!?!? 🤯 oh boy I’m worked up again😂🤣 Great video btw
👍 I feel the same... The whole Performance Bagger, KOTB and track day demo is a biiiiggg stretch from HD. But they know how to play the game.. No one who is serious about a performance build will buy this. This is for the weekend putt putt warranty warriors The standard Electra glide is by far better saving and the base to build the back end is all Electra glide anyways ( fender, lights, bags, shocks). All those parts people are paying an extra 5k or more are going in the trash anyway. Now Im at the end of my performance build, If I was to build my bagger all over again, Id of bought a road king and put a FXRT fairing on it.
Have a Road Glide ST on order right now. Should be in within a couple of weeks and I’m stoked to build it out. Glad to know it has cruise control. Also already ordered a 2-1 D&D Bobcat.
@@Marvelkid87 need your expert opinion. If you could have one bike, low rider st or road glide st? Your review is making me think that I should cancel my pre order for the low rider and go for the RH ST.
Step in the right direction for HD. 👍👍 I still feel them throwing "performance bagger" & KOTB stuff is a little much. A few cubes, 13" OEM shocks and some cosmetic stuff doesnt in any way make it a "performance bagger" or instill anything KOTB over a standard RG or SG. With markups on these STs, guys wanting a real build would be best off buying a standard bagger and build it up with aftermarket good stuff. That front fender is a nice design and will probably replace my RWD fender for one.
@@Marvelkid87 torn… I did order the low rider st in gunship grey… seeing that color on the bagger STs makes me think my color choice was a good decision… still the RG St just looks amazing. I hope I don’t kick myself and wish I went all in on a bagger. Would love to hear your opinion on the softail vs bagger decision…
I would love to see scientific studies done on handlebar vibration and frame vibration on both models under various conditions, maybe even impact test on center and off center to simulate deer collision. People always say they feel a difference between the two but I don't. With that said, Road Glide is my choice justified by aesthetics.
Bro Ive been waiting for a decent video on the ST’s. Thanks bro, amazing video. The ST’s wont be here in New Zealand for a few more months.. Cant wait to see them in person.
I’ve watched a few of your videos in the past but never subscribed…the intro made me hit the subscribe button. You got me wanting to trade my 20’ in for a 22’. Keep killin it!
I’m kinda disappointed because I was hoping for inverted front forks with radial Brembo brakes, rear Olins shocks, and the 131. With that being said I still like the bike. The wheels go with either color and the Bronx accents look goo on it . What did you think about Kyle’s race bike ? Have you watched any of the King of the Baggers races ?
I own a 2021 lowrider s and will be buying a 2022 road glide ST later on this year. Can't bring myself to trade in the lowrider though. Two bikes is always good!
I'm 5-10 would I hit the air cleaner? How was the buffering on the street glide and at what speed would that be a problem touring? How tall are you? Thanks
Nice video shots of you riding around the track.....if you have an opportunity to ask MoCo....why the stock Ultra shock vs upgrading them to basic Ohlins (front and back - if mfg costs would've preferred premium shocks over the GPS screen)....in addition, why not save some mfg costs and install 2-1 pipes like they did in 2010 to tune more performance....lastly, what kind of cams did MoCo use; stock CVO or new ones?...thanks and looking forward to the FXLRST video.....
Unless you have to have a HD, thatll be a downgrade, definitely ride it 1st before that move. Research the ST a little more before buying the hype, you have much more of a factory "performance bagger" with your Indian..
Love the new ST model’s already own 2 Harleys so really don’t need a 3rd one but after the holidays I was so close to pulling the trigger on a 2022 road glide special in the gunship gray and black so glad I waited when I seen what Harley has to offer in the ST models already conversed with my dealership so I can test ride one when it arrives great video
I disagree I think the special is more bang for the buck especially if you ride 2up. The extra little bit of power the 117 is enough to sway the extra the special gets but each to their own
I’m going to be buying this bike. I haven’t got to throw a leg over it yet. I was wondering how tall you are? I’m 5-8. I’m trying to see if that extra inch will have me on my tippy toes. We’re you able to flat foot the bike?
Nice content...I got ur channel from Cyclefanatix. IMO, HD is not hitting the mark... If you want to pick up performance bagger guys, ya gotta do more than a chopped fender & engine guard, a solo seat and the removal of passenger pegs. (Oh yeah, and the boy one key/ fob! For the price point, total suspension and t bars would be a start. And maybe a chain&spocket setup. (And still no led lighting, wow
Bought a 21 RG base with the larger screen, then a 124, klock werks windshield Yaffe sport monkey bars Arlen Ness grips and mirrors Saddleman custom seat tab performance exhaust lower fairings with Rockford Fosgate 400 amp I spent 30 K, why would you buy that with a 117
My son had a Harley and let me have a ride .... It was truly a bucket of shit when your used to riding a Honda Goldwing GL1800 2020 that was 6 grand cheaper than a Harley that you have to pour more cash like 20 grand to make it as good as a Honda Goldwing ... But I dont ride for image I ride for the freedom and reliability it gives me ...Tune in to Copart and have a look at all the wrecked Harley's .... That should give you food for thought
Think I'd sooner have the Special. The ST gives you 1" taller shocks and 3 cubic inches, but you lose a passenger seat, passenger pegs, and ugly ass tail light, two paint options, and you still aren't getting the inverted front end for 3k dollars more. A special with a 114 stage 2 will cost the same and will smoke the ST
The st has a different cam you Deff feel the difference in power. But I see what your saying about having more paint portions. The bike is intended kore for the rider who is more performance driven and not touring.
If you would have read the literature on the bike it is in detail abs and cruise standard. I get it you skipped all that and went to specs like 95% of us lol
After extensive research on both of these models it really is a hard choice to make, countless nights of twoing and throwing between them and endless arguments with my wife on spending this sort of money she reminded me I have only $1.59 in my savings account…oh well
@@Marvelkid87 true… but a seat plus pegs before I even leave the showroom is why I didn’t get the lowrider s… a lot of Harley models seem to ignore the passenger lately and it’s their comfort on the test ride that sells the bike, not everyone wants to be an afterthought. Yep, the standard electra glide is by far the better way to go for a performance build and savings.
