Technical issues there Moz, he does a brilliant Elvis cover, I love the fact he has sung this a few times now, and a Elvis backdrop, awesome. I love Elvis, been a fan since I was 6 yrs old. I was only 8 when he died and I was devastated. I still can't watch his funeral without crying and I'm nearly 49. I see Elvis in Morrissey. Me mams a big Elvis fan and of course his music was on a lot at home, I have 2 sisters and they kinda like Elvis but for me he was my very 1st music influence ever really along with other rock n roll vinyls & cassette tapes. Anyway I played my Mam Morrisseys version and I played Elvis cos she couldn't recall it at 1st until she heard it. Then she says, mind i Iike Morrisseys version better !!!!!!!!!! Of course I think it's a fantastic cover, I think I like both up there with brilliance. Hope Moz sees this and the huge compliment from my Mumsy x
Christine Robinson + This isn't a reference to Johnny Marr (but knowing Morrissey's sense of humour it could possibly be a very clever covert jibe!). It's a quote from the film 'White Heat' (1949) starring James Cagney (one of Morrissey's favourite actors). Morrissey has misquoted the (commonly misquoted) line: "I made it Ma! Top of the world!" at which point Cagney gets blown up in a fireball!
