Your post just literally solved a maddening over-charging problem in my old Ford. THANK YOU.

Finally! A video showing how to actually do it and not just talking about it. So you are stretching the spring out to increase voltage.

This is the best TH-cam video on getting your 6 volt generator working again! I rebuilt my generator, bought a new regulator and battery but it would not charge, I made the adjustment shown in the video and everything works perfectly! Thanks!

For those of us with these classic vehicles (‘62 vette), we really rely on old school mechanics with real test benches to keep things running. I’m now troubleshooting my 12 V generator (Delco type A). Pretty sure it’s the generator and I’d bring it to you in a second but I’m 3000 miles away. Since mine is a ‘numbers matching beastie’, we work hard repairing/refurbishing to remain original. Thanks for posting. I’m still laughing at your chuckle describing the 6V ‘53 Mercury generator. That could be me.

How about a 1957 Ford regulator for negative ground.
Is it the same? Can you show it?

You could, but you should monitor current. It’s easy to adjust it too much and burn up the generator.

Use an 8 volt battery, works great.
