Very true. That's why Michael Richards disliked Wayne Knight and wanted fewer scenes together with him, because he felt that the Newman character was "stealing his thunder." And I think it's true. Often Newman did still their scenes together and was a lot funnier than Kramer!

Michael Richards wouldn't have done it. When they started writing more Kramer/Newman stuff Michael asked them to stop. He didn't want a partner. So, that's why they had Newman in situations w/o Kramer.

Seriously though, Pam should’ve been a recurring character. She’s literally Kramer’s soulmate and then she vanishes. At least explain what happened to her.
Lack of conflict=no story
That's the comedy of Seinfeld; nothing ever changes. It's like the Simpsons. People hated Susan because it broke with the formula (plus apparently they hated working with the actress).
A love stricken Kramer is such a hoot; shows even the last season was superior to most series' best seasons!
