This is one amazingly good horror movie. Everyone should give the gift of 70s slashers this Christmas.
I was wondering...it only cost like 700000 to make, but made good profit...a lot of well-known actors in that movie...were they willing to be paid poorly?
@otaking3582 ... and sometimes... less is more. (Check out the problems Speilberg had with the mechanical shark in Jaws, and how it made for a more suspenseful movie... less shark, more anxiety).

How phone calls get traced. Police get a warrant and call the phone company who look up the information in their billing records. The phone company doesn't connect a call without having a record for billing purposes.
But couldn't there be a circumstance where the person making the call is from a different part of the country, with a different phone company? Would the phone company of the person recieving the call, have that information? What about if it was from a phone booth?
The only way to cheat the phone company's billing department is by what they used to call "phone phreaking" but you can't do any of those techniques by just placing a call, most require a hand set, and all require either tone generators or phone company maintenance codes. These would be valid for the '70s analog systems, but modern digital systems cannot be fooled as they log everything including routine maintenance and testing activity.

As technology advances, that seems like it'd be harder to reasonably pull off, unless you make said technology fail at "convenient" moments(or pull a Ghost in the Shell and "happy face" hack the system).
Not technically. The primary distinction is that in TCM, the teens in the van just happened to be in the “proverbial” wrong place at the wrong time. That is, the victims entered the killers’ lair. They were, of course, a killer cannibal family. The same is true of Psycho. In a true slasher, the, usually singular killer goes out of his way to hunt the victims in their environment. Slashers trace their.genuine origins primarily to the Italian giallo movies of the 60s and ‘70s. Mario Bava’s Bay Of Blood/Twitch Of The Death Nerve has several scenes that were almost shot by shot ripped off by F the 13th and its sequels, the most obvious example being the double death spearing of an amorous couple (Part 2) in coitus.
3 things worth noting: 1: Made in Canada meaning Brandon was right: Canucks can make some kick ass movies! 2: Who knew that by taking elements of Giallo films and mixing them with horror, we get this and the slasher genre? Cause I sure did and I, among many others, are glad. And 3: The gross as FUCK!, but still pretty enjoyable 2006 remake that was made to expand on this film's story while being an example of an earned remake by hitting all the right notes to appease fans. This is also the ONLY remake that Hollywood made...and I am happy with that cause if they did make another one, I'd be very PISSED OFF!
It's Not really much of a Twist. We *know* the killer is in the House from the opening scene. I know the Characters Don't know that, but a Twist is supposed to surprise the audience as well. It's also weird how "Billy" is even able to make these Phone calls while hiding inside the House without getting caught AND the Fact that he apparently started Calling them *Before* he broke in. They mention in the beginning that they've been getting obscene phone calls for a while.
For a good early "How many interesting ways can you kill a teenager", try Tower of Evil , aka Horror on Snape Island aka Beyond the Fog aka Horror of Snape Island - that goes all the way back to 1972!

Thanks!

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to you Brandon and all the other subscribers like me.
7:46-7:56 That Roe v Wade joke didn't age quite so well...
3 things worth noting:
1: Made in Canada meaning Brandon was right: Canucks can make some kick ass movies!
Merry Belated Christmas, Brandon!
A true Canadian classic
Looking forward to 2018! Keep the reviews coming
