This really resonates with me. When I shorten the swing a bit, I always hit it better and I stop a lot of swaying and unnecessary movement that kills the swing. But then I forget this lesson until I discover it again the next season.
Enjoyed your instruction on shortening the backswing. /Starting back after 25YEARS, so you can imagine all the mistakes in my game. So far, driving it well, putting well, but everything from the fairway in is a problem. I am 79 years old, in good shape, so I feel there is no reason to be mediocre.
This was one of the best lessons I have ever seen. Easy to understand, makes perfect sense, and much easier to implement than the long backswing. Thanks for sharing.
First, respect the Power Package -hands, arms, shoulders. Its all one unit that works together. Zach yet another awesome instructional video. You're gonna have us breaking 90,80 in no time
Hi Zach, this video describes my swing issues very well. So much so, that i feel confident in following your advice. Will update in a few weeks, thanks for the help.
Need for head speed seems better with longer backswing. Keeping hands/arms/shoulders in a power unit more difficult there. Good video instruction; finding one’s best backswing!
I really appreciate your video! What I am also hearing is that one should stay true to one’s flexibility, ability, or age (for that matter) such that to maintain the most consistent form during the backswing to allow the most consistent and appropriate form during impact. I realized that when I tried to force myself to stretch my backswing further beyond what my body can handle, my left (leading) arm starts to bend, may back begins to straighten up, and my head starts to move up. I feel at that point my form “falls apart”, leading to poor impact, and lost distance. Since I refrained myself from over “stretching” my backswing, I was able to hit farther, and with less effort. It seems everyone will have a different limit on his or her backswing before the form breaks down. By practicing, hopefully one can find that sweet spot. I realize this whole issue just a few days ago before coming across your video. I just want to validate your point that what you are saying is extremely true! I experienced it first hand. Thank you for sharing these valuable insights!
Are there drills to shorten your backswing? I record myself and thought I was stopping way short but I'm going to parallel and can't stop myself from going so long. Thanks!
Love your analysis and thoughts on the golf swing. Do u offer video lessons? I would be interested in sending u video or emailing it and u give me some advice.
Great lesson Zach! This is exactly what I needed to correct many of my swing issues. I went to the range after watching this and was amazed at the improvement in consistency and solid contact. Thanks.
Zach, I have viewed 2 videos on the same topic .... (The Trail elbow at impact), by Danny Maude and Eric Cogorno), where they talk about the front of the trail elbow facing forward and close to the rib cage at impact, which helps to create a natural "Forward Shaft Lean." Question¹: Do you advocate this? Question²: If you do, should I try and "Preset the Trail Elbow" as I set-up to the ball? Thank you.
I’m 76 years young, I have been working on playing a draw for more distance. I’m very interested in your info on the swing, I seem to be able to hit a good drive but then my approach shots are not as good as they should be. Any ideas I could work on ?
Club sharft leads through at Impact position how do you do it? It's all good for a teaching pro showing the move on TH-cam must be a lot more to do before you get into that position, please explain)
My problem with a long backswing is it’s always inconsistent..never know which way my wrists will flop around at the top. It seems to me that a shorter backswing would almost with certainty eliminate any casting of the right hand because it stays in the right position without having to reroute it on the way down. Looking at Rahm and Finau for example they certainly do not over swing one bit.
Most times are not when you do overswing you definitely come out of your posture at least that's what I do so I really try to think of staying in posture and a backswing. And I don't like calling it shortening my back swing I like to call it don't overswing
Zach, when I tuck my trail elbow into my ribs, I get the opposite of forward shaft lean; I get a high, weak shot falling right and short. Any suggestions?
Sounds like your getting "stuck" and then flipping the hands to compensate. Probably because your hips aren't opening up enough to rotate through the ball before impact.
Over swing has been bane of my golfing life. I seem to be able to manage to not do it with driver but everything else just collapses. What feeling or thought process do you have to keep swing short, and not have arms collapse??

Always great…easy to understand instruction…bits and pieces that help build a better swing
Great rotation video. Love how Ernie explains his motion. Firm left, yet soft smooth motion, back and thru maintaining plane !!!
Thanks Zach
Excellent video. Thank you from an old man (74 yo. Marine Corps veteran) who has been snatching the club inside and overswinging for many years.

Ernie's tips were the best part of this video and it was only a few seconds haha either way you provided it so you get the credit too
Great video Zach I’ve got a compact swing after getting too long a swing and then getting hippy now more relaxed and controlled.
Really appreciate your style of teaching Zach. I grew up playing debell and wish I had taken lessons from you early on! Keep up the good work.

Really like this Zak , very simple .
Opens my stance up a little but gives me a feeling of ease and control that I rarely get , good work mate 👍

another excellent video thanks Zach
Wonderful lesson! I was thinking to myself ,the bigger backswing ,more powerful. I will have try this lesson soon. Thanks for the lesson.
thank you very much. it was incredible informative, and make me realized what was my problem.
thank you so much
Zach, thanks for the tip, love your videos!
great post Kach!
Absolutely love this video
Great lesson - very salient content! I was trying to increase my backswing and I got some great shots but I was SO inconsistent that I got frustrated.
Good and credible lessons, follow you.
Ballstriking blueprint still one of my favorite go to videos.
Thanks, Zak. This is helpful as I get older with less strength
and flexibility.
wonderful, something to definitely work on
Excellent instruction.
Great information Zach, I too really love those three swings, three great guys too.
"The BIG Easy" is mesmerising
Zach, does this require an adjustment in tempo? 3 to 1 my need to be 2.5 or so to 1.
Thank you.
Great video thanks Zach. I can do with irons but driver? 🤷🏻♂️
Thanks!

Good stuff
thank you

The Big Easy...what a golf swing.
Can you do a video on where the hands arms and shoulders are at impact with a driver

Do you do online lessons ? I posted on your IG page but no response
Good backswing stuff Zack. I Like the"BOX" Ernie demos as it shows me my left arm is across my chest to much on taking club back.
Shorten the swing but add radius!
Zach.(My apologies to Kach)
That isn't the issue in what goes on.
If people teach you badly you end up doing that which is what modern golf instructors keeps doing.
👍👍👍👍🙋♂️
Pm
suggest you shorten your videos to 5 minutes.
