My grandfather was an architect and for retirement he designed himself a modern "treehouse" on the Oregon Coast on a cliff looking over the ocean. This reminds me so much of that. I miss that home it was so magical to visit there. The pacific northwest is magical, and it doesn't surprise me that another architect wanted to build a similar home for themselves. Great video :)

As soon as I heard this treehouse was facing south, it made me think about the sunlight that the house would get from morning until early afternoon :-). Places (esp. when it comes to getting an apartment in Korea) facing south are most preferred and it was great to hear about what Mr. Olson learned during his studies abroad. Waking up to the birds chirping, nestled amongst the trees, either doing yoga on the balcony or snuggled up on a comfortable hammock chair sipping coffee. I dream of that everyday. Bliss.

But then you have the architectural plans, the 3d model, the physics and engineering of this object. All of that is beautiful too.
The irony is that we do not get paid for making all those things. We get paid for THINKING and solving architectural problems. Jim Olson gave an outstanding solution that deserves recognition. He had fun doing what he loves the most.
