    an easier way is to measure the piston first, and zero the bore gauge then measure the cylinder wall. You will get the piston to wall clearance

    Hello, suppose its an unknown bore & we still want to measure its size, just to know the diameter, what is the procedure?

    why are you not measuring at bottom of skirt?

      The piston must be measured where the piston is the largest, which is determined by the manufacturer

      ​@@JaymicheaelT Exactly, it's usually indeed at the skirt. But always follow manufacturer specifications because this might change.
