I am a 43 yrs old Korean guy living in S.Korea. As I listened to this episode of podcast with Jason, I realized how thankful I am and my family thanks to the sacrifice the American solders made sacrificing their lives. I go to memorial day ceremony time to time and I realize how many young lives were taken away who would have been grandfathers by now. Without them I wonder how my life and my kids lives would have changed , we could be in North Korea's dictatorship regime. Thanks Jason for your sacrifice for your country and others. I and my family thank you and your family. We are forever indebted to you and Americans

Thanks for this awesome interview and introducing me to Redman! As a wounded Soldier who spent some time healing at Walter Reed myself, a lot of what Redman said post injury resonated. During my deployment, I always assumed I'd die in combat or live to see another day and drive on. Never saw a permanent disability be in the cards for me. Live and learn but at least we're still alive.

I don't know how he keeps it together, but each time I see him maintain composure, it makes me realize how important it is to have emotional control. Especially during the Ryan part. Slapping the X-rays up and thinking, "OMG what a freaking train-wreck!", but saying to the patient (as I'm sure Jocko would put it), "GOOD! This is the kind of surgery we LOVE doing!" But, as a mentor told me much more than once, "the enemy of good is better. The enemy of better is perfect". There really does come a point where less is more and the risks outweigh the benefits.

No longer in service, 3 girls and a wife, working an easy money job I worked hard to get but it's boring. Never seeing how productive you are because it's tasked out to someone else. I have to pick a random goal and stick to it or I'll go into a rabbit hole of chaos. I tell you what.... maybe 2 Jocko podcast a day is a bit much. I listened to the Dakota Meyers one earlier and started this one. Talk about feeling like I don't do shit while on the clock. Is it really that great to work up to these easy positions? HOLY SHIT 2:09:08 I thought I heard that note before somewhere? And then it hit me, I had read it. If anyone has read "Touching the Dragon" by James Hatch(another seal) he mentions seeing Jason's note on a door while he was in the hospital(bottom of page 184). Crazy how small of a world it is.

Jocko- I love your heart. Got me choked up when you did, and a huge part of your sacrifice is just knowing that heartbreak was a possibility, but you signed up, risked life and limb literally, and continue to grow and also inspire normal people to be humble and great at the same time.

After hearing the story from Jason and DJ it's almost unbelievable! SEAL team's basically blowing themselves up and the overpressure is detrimental to the brain. Our warrior's deserve the best treatment possible! Amazing story, team. Rest in peace Ryan,Mikey, Chris, Murphy, the Helo that was shot down and all of the SEALS that gave their lives for our freedom and the one's that took their lives, we must do better by then! We must!

the lighting of the podcast makes his face look worse than when you see him in person. My son and I got to meet him awhile back in a frog bar in Va Bch. He instantly became my sons hero. Not long after, we were watching Hawaii five 0 and Jason had a guest starring role on this particular episode. My son instantly recognized Jason and was so excited he was on a TV show.

Attention to all who enter here. If you are coming into this room with sorrow or to feel sorry for my wounds, go elsewhere. The wounds I received I got in a job I love, doing it for people I love, supporting the freedom of a country I deeply love. I am incredibly tough and will make a full recovery. What is full? That is the absolute utmost physically my body has the ability to recover. Then I will push that about 20 percent further through sheer mental tenacity. This room you are about to enter is a room of fun, optimism, and intense rapid regrowth. If you are not prepared for that, go elsewhere.
