  • This year has been a tough one for all of us. Travel has been limited and our social circles have gotten smaller. My bike has always been a way for me to escape and this year it's been especially important that I take advantage of these two wheeled machines. So when Paulo reached out to invite me along on my first ever bike packing trip I jumped at it!
This video was a ton of fun to make. At first I had no idea what the story would be. I didn't spend alot of time thinking about the filming aspect as I was just trying to survive the trip so it took me a while to start sifting through the footage. It wasn't until a month ago I thought it would be fun to interview the other guys on the trip to hear their recollections of the trip and learn a bit about why they love bike packing.
Thanks again to Paulo for all of the photos, (The thumbnail is his shot of John)!

Nice Video and ride. My Buddy and I are planning to tackle our first trip this spring. - A one-nighter. Any suggestions for an overnighter that is not to onerous for a newbie who has been riding road for about 4 years. Cheers

Hey Toogy. I'm almost 50 and planning my first bike packing ride for this summer. Don't know where in Ontario yet but lots of loops in southern Ontario to explore. Just start buying essential bags on Amazon like I did. You should join me if interested. I'm solo for now

I did a fatbike loop of Yorston Lake west of Temagami after the first snows this fall . Looking forward to doing a few more routes in the spring before the blackflies attack. I have a packraft and have a few bikeraft trips planned as well. Handy for some routes which require water crossings or flooded by beavers.

Great watch. I live in Guelph. My buddy and I planned our first bikepacking trip come spring. Just a 1 nighter to start and get the feel for how to pack proper, etc. This summer will be great. Hopefully do a trip similar to this up North. Maybe we’ll cross paths out there one day!

Great work! I enjoyed the voice overs from all the riders. Bikepacking in Ontario is a must experience. Definitely needs some toughness. You can fit 700x45 or 650Bx51 on your bike. Should be mostly enough. Looking forward to seeing more info about the route! Cheers from Ottawa.

I have a second wheel set for my Warbird for this type of terrain the 650b with Rene Heres Juniper Ridge tires perform well. Still underbiked but in a good way.
