Man of culture; it gives such insight into their personalities and motives in such a subtle way. T3 kinda carried it on but I feel it was heavily understated, sadly.
not only that, but I loved when the game was showing you the character usage% each character also had their bar in their own color theme. Sadly, along with the character theme color backgrounds it disappeared around T4.
I just love the different coloured clouds for every character. It says everything, and nothing all at once. The music and that tiny little detail were just... IT.
Tekken 2 is so hauntingly beautiful. The soundtrack, overall sound design, stage design, and character design are all incredible. I love that each character has so many sound cues for giving out hits and getting hit. Hearing the voice clip when you finally beat a tough opponent is a great reward, plus each character has unique victory poses. They did an incredible job giving life to these characters in a game where the only action is fighting. The unique cutscenes after clearing the game were an amazing reward as well. The voice lines are all well-performed. Some sounds in this game are iconic, such as Yoshimitsu's slashing sword, Law's "oooiiiiiaahhhhh!!!", Jack 2's imposing grunts, King's roaring as he smashes your head against his knee, the announcer yelling "Great!!" when you win a match by the skin of your teeth. The love and care poured into this game is apparent. The mystique and charm of this game makes it unlike any other Tekken game. It certainly stands apart as one of the greatest PlayStation games ever made. Every character felt like a truly formidable opponent and worthy adversary. Landing a critical hit feels and sounds satisfying. The feel and sound of executing a block is a great cue for a chance to counter. The characters feel expressive and alive. The panoramic artwork surrounding each level made the world seem bigger than just the stage you are fighting on. Kazuya/Devil as the final boss was cinematic, dramatic, and tense. The subtle change of the pre-battle screen showing the blueish, purpleish devil with red eyes peering at you was foreboding and terrifying. I love the serious tone of this game. My first PlayStation game that my mom bought for me. I still remember the day I tested it. I'm so glad the shop owner suggested this game for me to try. It has inspired me endlessly and brought me much joy, despite sore fingers from trying to get up from the ground faster.
Tekken 2 was my introduction to the series, I was a kid and my older friends owned it and I played at their place. Tekken 3 was the first Tekken I actually owned which I bought when I was older, but I will never forget that it was Tekken 2 where I started at!
(if I remember correctly) in the arcade version not only Devil/Angel's name are not said by the Announcer, but Devil/Angel also didn't show up on the character usage screen no matter how many times you used them.
Say what you want but tekken 3 is still the best. Better story, better moves, better character designs, better characters and better stages and a way better boss fight. Tekken 3 made tekken 2 forgettable.
Tekken 2 will always be my favourite Tekken. 1/2 have the best soundtrack IMO. My only complaints are the lack of sound/movie test as well as the lack of stage select for training and vs. mode.
On the arcade version, they would have some announcer’s voice clips from tekken 1. Law would be called Marshall Law since Tekken 2. But on the PS1 version, those voice clips from Tekken 1 would be replaced with the announcers voice clips from Tekken 2.
omg look at how "tiny" Paul was back in his prime of his youth I bet he would have no idea who that fella is if we where to show him a photo of his youth his reaction would be hilarious 🤪🤪🤪🤪🤪🤪🤪🤪🤪🤪🤪🤪🤪🤪🤪🤪
I liked when they were giving each character a color which matches their personality & design. Tekken 2 did it first, and I believe they've stopped doing that in Tekken 6.

By selecting any character with the punch buttons you'll get the fighting costume, and with the kick buttons you get the more casual wear of the character, hopefully, that answered your question?
I use everyone in this games But i use more Kunimitsu Heihachi Kazuya Paul Michelle Armor King King Yoshimitsu Jun and Baek Doo San And recently playing Wang
Which character was your favorite in this game?
Only Jin Kazama in Tekken 3,4,5,6 and 7
Gonna go with Kazuya in his casual wear - sad that outfit never returned in any capacity - and as a runnerup, Lee/Jun are tied.
Anna
Marshall law was my favorite in this one.
Yoshimitsu.
The moving sky background behind each character is a detail I've always loved as a kid, especially because each character had their own colored sky
Such a vibe setter. Just that alone conveyed so much character. Like look at Lee's selection pic 😂
Man of culture; it gives such insight into their personalities and motives in such a subtle way. T3 kinda carried it on but I feel it was heavily understated, sadly.
@@TheEdwardAlchemist how could you not pick Lee or Kazuya based off those pics 😂
not only that, but I loved when the game was showing you the character usage% each character also had their bar in their own color theme. Sadly, along with the character theme color backgrounds it disappeared around T4.
What color is Yoshimitsu's sky?
I just love the different coloured clouds for every character. It says everything, and nothing all at once. The music and that tiny little detail were just... IT.
Agreed. The different colored clouds for every character are awesome! :)
Always loved how Devil and Angels names weren’t ever announced when you selected them. Made it feel more suspenseful when it came to them.
cool!
In arcade version, it doesn’t announce Devil’s and Angel’s names. It only announced in PS1 version, including the portrait of Angel.
They don’t even announce the character name in the Ps1 version either

At 0:38
Paul is dancing to his own stage
And he’s try to get Nina to dance with him lol

Awesome!
same here
I grew up playing 2, 3 and Tag. Oh the amount of hands thrown were astronomical in my cumulative playtime. And gutter balls in the bowling minigame
Heihachi was my main for this game. This was a MASSIVE improvement over the original.
Yeah, they really remade his design compared to the first game for sure!
Same. He hit sooooooo hard. He had the Mishima moves with Paul's Phoenix smasher
(if I remember correctly) in the arcade version not only Devil/Angel's name are not said by the Announcer, but Devil/Angel also didn't show up on the character usage screen no matter how many times you used them.
oh wow, that is interesting!
1:23 Michelle Chang looks pretty and 1 of the best powerhouse fighting styles.
Tekken casuals will say the 3rd is the best but true Tekken fans know this is the turning point of the saga
The jump in quality from Tekken 1 to 2 was amazing!
Indeed. We all know mechanically 3 was great, but true og fans know Tekken 2 was special in a way 3 can’t touch
But Tekken 3 is still the best
The average Tekken 3 fan vs The Tekken 2 enjoyer

Lee's theme is GOAT
@@viscountrainbows2857 Definitely!
This will always be my favorite Tekken.
To the second part of Tekken, was the best soundtrack ever :)
Really love the tracks here too!
Nina's face is most beautiful in the character select screen. ✌🏻😀😀
Ah good old tekken 2 this one out of the first three of them still my favorite of all time:).
Really cool, these are great memories!
It's a shame they didn't animate them, some of the ones from 1 were funny - Paul's especially
So true, been thinking the same!
I'd have loved to see Alex's moving portrait, he's one of my favourite characters throughout Tekken
No announcement for Devil and Angel, and a different one for Roger and Alex. Interesting, they added it on PSX version only.
Yeah right, and they do sound very different for sure
I would love to see some of these stages be brought back.
Tekken 1 to 5 needs a remastered even without an online mode just pure old tekken
Now we are talking
We need a collection just like how SF got the Anniversary Collection and MK got the Arcade Kollection!
I've been saying this for years!! highly agree
I would Like to See a Remake of Tekken 1 to Tekken 3
On the arcade version, they would have some announcer’s voice clips from tekken 1. Law would be called Marshall Law since Tekken 2. But on the PS1 version, those voice clips from Tekken 1 would be replaced with the announcers voice clips from Tekken 2.
Right, you can especially hear the difference in the Arcade vs PS2 version!
Forever Tekken My Bro 💪😏
😁
2:31 Kuma Tekken 1 Portrait
Although he looks like a beaver in character select screen (Kuma) 2:30
The announcer's voice is like trying to be Michael Buffer while being effected by laxative, Dumber and Dumber's level.
Hehe!
I thought the announcer was fine. The way he says Marshall Law "Mart-shul Laaa
@@Laid2Sleep that is not the worst case. Wait until he call Ganryu's name. Like splashing the whole ... in one second.

his reaction would be hilarious

So nostalgic!🥰 what's differences in version A?
I don't think the bosses where selectable yet, though some game adjustments and balances were made too
Looks good, honestly. Namco, pls...
I liked when they were giving each character a color which matches their personality & design.
Tekken 2 did it first, and I believe they've stopped doing that in Tekken 6.
Tekken 4 was the last to do it
@@Sibaspapu no. Tekken 4 still used colours for the characters. That stopped in Tekken 6.
Kazuya staring into your soul
Tho 😂
