I think the most depressing thing about Wish is that is was supposed to be the start of the next Disney renessance just as the pattern/era you pointed out before. It was supposed to be the comeback film for the company. Seeing the concept art and scenes from the original movie, it WAS a great movie! It had heart, humor, stakes, villainy and was a love letter to classic Disney! The writers really did want this to be an incredible film to the point they were going to return to 2D animated movies! But execs came up with lame excuses on why none of the cool ideas worked and watered down the movie to what we got...
When Disney makes two mediocre films, it's the end of the studio. When DreamWorks makes two completely awful films, no says shit. God, I love animation fans.

Because dreamworks has always been known for movies of varying quality. In 2004, we got shrek 2 and shark tale. In 2017, we got captain underpants and boss baby. This year, we got the Wild robot and kung fu panda 4. Dreamworks is never consistent with quality. After making some average sequels in the early 2020s, they made two bangers in 2022, bad guys and puss in boots the last wish. Then the next year, they released two movies of mixed quality. Dreamworks is a wild card when it comes to quality. Meanwhile, Disney has been known for making constant bangers followed with some solid movies, so to see them make more and more mediocre/bad stuff recently is upsetting

Ah yes, Wish the '' big celebration '' of 100 years of animation with; a boring heroine and side-characters, an annoying talking goat, a character who became evil out of nowhere| Magnifico, horrible pop music who doesn't go AT ALL in a universe full of castles and magic. Seriously, the originals concepts were so good and interresting! I'm still sad we got that awful film instead of the original script ☹ Once upon a studio is the real celebration movie. Disney first rose to power because of their animated films, and greedy executives now see that as the main source of gross national income for the company. Because of this, whenever there is an animated film in the works at Disney, it's rushed to meet deadlines and is not fleshed out properly, making it lack proper narratives. Any kind of corporate influence in Disney should look only at the business side of things, like how many theatres the film could be in, the best estimated and not rushed time to release that film, and what kind of advertising techniques that film should have. They should never interfere with storytelling, and leave that to the writers, and maybe a few bold actors, to decide what happens. The best example of a corporate-meddled Disney film I can think of is Wish. You can easily see how much control that film suffered from.
Most of their '' new '' movies are live-actions for: Moana, Hercules, Lilo and Stitch, the Aristochats, Sword in the stone, Robin hoods, Snow white etc. The ONLY original movie is Elio; that's dissapointing! There's a Hocus pocus 3 coming in 2025 i think. I didn't see all the details. Honestly, i'm not sure it's necessary. The first movie is a classic with memorables characters, nice music and the Sanderson sisters were funny; the second movie is ok but the new heroines were boring; the main girl could do magic out of nowhere and never trained before. Her father is a bit entertaining but the rest was meh 😐

I believe Disney can make a comeback( zootopia 2 might be the catalyst for change like Cinderella, the little mermaid, and the princess and the frog) for illumination there is no hope because they can ( and have) pumped out the worst movie ever and still make bank, they don’t need to improve. Disney is definitely in emergency mode right now, all they want to release are sequels, Pixar is the same, they'll make more money than their awful, trashy, recent stuff for sure but I wonder if it will be at least good, I'm almost sure it won't be great, Ralph 2 and Frozen 2 showed even though years have gone by, Disney is still just terrible at making sequels.
