    To me, this was a beautiful film. One in which is evident in all of our lives perhaps not necessarily thru morbid obesity, but life in itself and making mistakes, themes of regret and endearing redemption in which made this movie to me incredible beautiful.
    Especially when you have made a mistake in your own life and no matter what, lost out on that person or experience that meant everything and how easily one can give up when they are confronted with this. In this film, his lover dies and that is when he gives up on life to the point of death and i believe even if you havent experienced hoplessness in your life, this movie can bring it to you, this movie appealed and grabbed me because i know what it feels like to want someone so bad, to love them, to have spent so much of my life and experiences with this person and yet they are now gone and out of reach and the futility, the lonliness, the sadness, the grief each and every new day i wake up and im smacked with the realization of my life and where things stand, i may not be charlie, but could relate to being him in the sense of all this weight on me, the weight of the world, the weight of mistakes, the weight of wanting just one good thing to become of all of it, making it all worthwhile. Redemption.
    I loved this movie and for those who didnt i dont understand. Fraser delivered an oscar winning performance and deserved that oscar.

      Beautifully stated!❤

    • @NuiSan-kd6vo
      @NuiSan-kd6vo หลายเดือนก่อน

      @lauraberry1213 I lost somebody I loved dearly and am the one to blame. My one true friend in this life who knew me best, loved me for me and shared so many amazing experiences with and it took a toll on me unlike anything ever has and this event and my complicity in it was what unleashed this beast into my life or monkey on my back. Not in the form of morbid obesity, but drug use. Not just dabbling drug use. But the kind to where you do so much you are literally teetering in between life and death simply not to feel.
      The scene in this film where he begins stuffing his face was such an eye opener for me as it signaled in myself the wanting to forget, wanting to escape feeling and just not caring that comes when you use not to feel good or even get high but because you don't want to live. He isn't eating because he is hungry in that scene, he is overdosing himself and pushing it and that's what I took away from the film and how extreme ones life can change in an instant of losing someone close to them, or in Charlie and my case, that one person who comes along once in a lifetime and it is true to form that we both put aside our family and risked everything to be together and to then lose that person you've known and been with literally half your life or from a young age, I can relate to him. Not thru morbid obesity but thru addiction and the over and undertones if this film really resonated with me like I said before, I just got to a point in my life where once I had lost this person, nothing really mattered and I never applied myself I never really matured as a person and just deteriorated. I am saddened but glad to see that he got his chance to make right and truly was all he needed to do to before passing away.
      The thing with Charlie is he was at that point of no return and was going to die and he wanted it. He was okay with it. He welcomed it. But before doing so, the "aha" moment, or redemption he seeked was granted to him in his final moments. I've been clean for two years but not a day goes by that I don't think of this person and where my life would be had not fucked it up. Charlie was aware of his choices as am I and this is one of only a few films my jaded self has ever watched that moved me to tears and it was only because I knew that loss, tragedy, and being willing to literally kill yourself away thru drugs (in my case) or over eating (in his) and I was really moved by this movie and glad that others where moved to. Sadie's performance of her being unlikable and angry is her right and that is why when she does and says so much horrible things to him, he takes it as he should and doesn't shift the blame or become hostile back he only responds with love. I loved the caregiver as well. She was a sweetie and protective over him and knew why he was doing what he was doing and despite being a pain in her ass at times by not seeking medical help, she knew and showed up to be there for him because of the love he lost who happened to he her brother. A beautiful and moving movie and I'm surprised I hadn't heard about it or seen it sooner but I had been locked up for while.
      I like to think I'm getting better with my sobriety but highly doubt that I am capable of handling this loss of mine without returning to the sweet escape artist thru heroin once I'm off of probation. Who knows but we will see. Peace

    If he had just fasted from the time he found he would die, he would never have died. He could have lost 20 lbs in a week and got his blood work looking good. If you have weight issues, remember you can fix it. Food is one of the worst drugs to abuse, but you can heal, even feel great not eating or skipping meals. Being healthy can be even more addicting and way better feeling. God bless, stay healthy both in body and spirit. And don't let a movie discourage you or make you feel hopeless, you have hope and you can do it!

      It’s not the food it’s the addiction to the food. If porn had a toxic dose image how many people would have dropped dead by it. Addiction is the main thing that is nearly impossible to beat for some it’s food, others cigarettes, alcohol, porn etc. at some point it stops being about the substance and it’s the brain so hard wired to crave the routine and substance at specific times or under certain moments of distress that logic fails to override our addiction

      @@valeriaromainville2288 Alan starved himself before inevitably ending his life. Part of Liz's trauma lies in her inability to convince Alan to eat when he was spiraling into his demise. Similarly with Charlie, the same trauma causes him to binge eat because he witnessed the love of his life deteriorate. In a tragic way both Liz and Charlie are coping with the horrible way Alan suffered before his untimely death.

      The Good message is that even while people may come off as bad or evil, you should always be optimistic, no matter what. Charlie tried to do that with his daughter, even while she continued doing wrong things. Even though this story is depressing, Charlie teaches us that we should continue to be optimistic even while we’re at our lowest or if someone is being horrible to another.
