Superb !! the best thing about guys from the video world is their superb control over manual focus and how do you keep the noise down so well even in such dim lighting conditions? Is it all post process magic? I am stills guy and I don't know whether it works in the same way as it does for still photos (which I know somewhat well).
Thanks, Sourav. Manual focus at a fully open aperture is something you'll get used to with practice. Professional and semi-professional camera bodies have something called focus peaking which acts as a visual guide for MF. Regarding noise, the shutter speed is double the frame rate. This would reduce the ISO compared to stills which have a faster shutter and a higher ISO. More importantly than that, is using a camera that has great low light performance. With wildlife, sometimes you may even have to expose for moonlight.

I understand the theory but I guess the practice is something else all together. Thanks, Shivam. Regarding your take on 'expensive' telephoto lenses - fancy gear doesn't make a filmmaker. Firstly, your desire to tell visual stories, your gained knowledge / experience and your ability to use whatever available gear are what matter most. Owning a Ferrari doesn't ensure you first position. Secondly, the equipment I own has been bought over 10 years of working hard and saving up. Two of my lenses, including the super telephoto have been bought second hand. Always remember that the best camera is the one you've got on you. Doesn't matter if it's a smartphone or a point and shoot. All the best and keep telling stories.
