Hello! I would like to know if Twinmotion also has an emmisivity effect for its metal materials so it can emit a glowing effect like Lumion? Or if there's an alternative way to make a material glow? Thank you!
WOW!!!! I'm ready to help build the metaverse now that I know how to apply materials by object instead of entire groups! thank you so much! very helpful.
Following your excellent course from start to finish before ever trying out Twinmotion for myself, is making me feel that once I get started it'll feel easy, thanks to your tuition!
"two sides" is when you have an object without thickness.. in other words, just a plane. Some renderers will apply culling to the backside of the plane.. so if you look to the front of the plane you see the material, but if you look to the back of the plane you see nothing (transparent), you see throu the plane. BUT if you turn the the "two sides" the material will be applied to the back side of the plane also. Obs.: if you turn on "two sides" on an object that HAS thickness, the material will be applied to the inside of the object.. so if you position your view INSIDE the object you will not see throu the object, but you will see he material applied to the inside of the object also.
You mentioned on 1:30 that you had to choose by importing to "keep hierarchy" because you had problems by adjusting material to different objects. I think the "keep hierarchy" option is just used to move objects imported inside the main model. Because by using standart "collapse by material" you can still apply material to different object by changing from "replace material" to "apply to object"option (that round button in the middle). I tried this way , and didn't had any problems.
I thought that I did have problems with this - In any case, I also keep the hierarchy because I want to retain the organization of the model in the organization tree on the right side of the page
Thanks for your amazing videos! TWO SIDED ON is useful when I import objects from Rhinoceros and they have the normal of the mesh inverted. It is like a "flip normals". This is what I understood, and it works.
Such a great program. The only thing i feel it needs is the ability to split surfaces up inside TM. Putting individual walls and objects onto individual layers or else applying different and or duplicate materials inside the modelling package is a nuisance especially on a large building. Apart from that its the best rendering package ive used to date and the user interface is really easy to use
Is there any way to add a small bevel to corners? Everything looks too sharp in my models. Also, is there a way to add worn down texture so your model looks more old or worn? Your tutorials on this and SketchUp have really helped! Thanks.
Hi! I was wondering if there is a way to for example apply different materials to two sides of a wall in twinmotion. Do I have to split the wall in my source file? For example exterior walls that have a thickness. If they are one solid, how can I give it brick material on the outside and plaster on the inside? What is the workflow for this? Thanks!
I think 2sided means if u apply a material to a plane, it can show different textures for front and back. For example, being able to look through glass from one side and having it opaque or blurry when looking from the other side
Excellent intro to materials, thanks. When syncing from Archicad i found i had to select "No Merge" in the sync options within AC itself, ie the Twinmotion link options. As opposed to the 'keep hierarchy' option, seems to do the same thing.
my friend i use archicad too fro 3d but in twinmotion when i put material to a wall it takes it in both sides of the wall do you know how i put it one side only?

The standard views (front, back, side) never seem to be where my main object of interest is. Are these Views automatically set? Can we alter them? I noticed that there is a Custom view. Can we set that one according to our preference in the model? If not, can we create a scene, as we do in Sketchup, in order to get back to it easily? Thanks again for the great instructive explanations!
Hi...i am unable to Apply material to specific object in twin motion when file imported from sketch up ...my question is should the sketch up model be ungrouped each of the object or is there any settings in twinmotion..
That kind of depends on what's easiest for you - if you have to do a lot of re-organization to get there, I don't see the point. If it's not a lot of extra work...maybe?
Hi Justin. Do you have video on how to make better use of Bimotion? I want to send a link to my clients so they can download the file and download bimotion and then explore the house at their leisure. Or is there a different program that you can recommend for viewing these files?
Great job, Justin. I'm LOVING the Twinmotion videos and seriously debating switching over to it as my main renderer. So far, Twinmotion is amazing (because I LOVE the Unreal Engine's rendering capabilities) - However, I'm concerned about what the price will be once it's no longer free. I don't want to get adjusted to a program and REALLY start loving it only to have it cost me a fortune after the year's end and it's no longer free. What are your thoughts on this? Do you think it'll cost an arm and a leg under Epic's new domain? Or do you think it'll be reasonable? [For reference, I currently use a combination of Blender Cycles renderer and Datasmith plugin for Unreal Studio to render my Sketchup files since they're cheap/free].
Future versions of Twinmotion are going paid starting November of this year. However, they've stated that this version that you can download right now is free forever. Note that Unreal has stated that Unreal Studio will be a paid program as well at some point. If you really want something that's absolutely going to stay free no matter what, I'd stay with Cycles, but the current downloadable version of Twinmotion is also staying free. I have zero info about what any of this might cost though
Yeah that's fair - Thanks for the reply! My main reason for wanting to switch away from Cycles is because importing from Sketchup to Blender is definitely not streamlined by any means, and is tedious. It creates fantastic results, but takes so much time and effort. So a quicker, more efficient method (like Twinmotion!) would be great. I must have missed the info that this version will be free forever... That settles it, then. I'm switching over to Twinmotion! Thank you again for the help/info! I've been subbed for a long time and always love seeing your new vids come out! :)
Hi Justin, we all know that Sketchup is pretty bad in dealing with (larger amounts of) vegetation, and this is no issue at all with Twinmotion. However as a landscape architect I have a need to show my designs in Layout (using a template, text, dimensions, etc). Would it be possible to create a video about how to combine Layout and Twinmotion in some sort of way? Thinking out loud: Have a Twinmotion topview with all vegetation and drop a SU scene on top of that.
hellow fellow landscaper ! i'm loving this software so far , buuuut i'm feeling the vegetation are a little bit limited comparing to Lumion , i also miss one of lumion features winch is to convert any material to a landscape material ( meaning you can brush different materials together into imported geometry ).
And another problem is ..if the material is same for few objects in sketch up ..it is unable to apply the same for individual objects in twinmotion ..why is this happening please fix this ???
Have you found a way to apply a material to several objects so that you can change the color of one material and have it adjust all the objects its applied to?
Like this? th-cam.com/video/hv-6qs9uqzo/w-d-xo.html - I assume you could set individual materials, then turn on the other mode and change all of that material at once after the fact

Hi, Justin.
Is there any option to change opacity? I mean for fabric, curtains or very thin slabs of marble.
Thank you for your job.
i've run into the same problem when trying to add materials for curtains .
the workaround i found for now is to use your own material
1- after you add new material press the ( more ) icon under color
2- now you can turn on opacity mask
3- opacity mask can read PNG images format
so for marbles open the desired material diffuse on Photoshop add transparent background ( layer ) , reduced the main material layer opacity to 80-50% and save the new material as PNG
for fabric material i just used perforated diffuse map and it did the trick .
if anyone reading this comment and know a method , please advise ^^ ( i miss v-ray material management )
