I like all my patent pending discs vs the current runs. Mayhem, volt, tantrum, excite, insanity, Tesla, octane, panic. The old ones all have more dome and fly better for me. As soon as they switched to in-house manufacturing it’s all board flat and much more overstable. Given the dome on the Timelapse’s, it does seem they’re on their way to correcting this (hopefully).
I prefer the flatness on the putters, mids and fairways. I think if they introduce domes on 10 speeds and higher, that would be nice. Even on the streamline drivers too, those are also flat as f.
This is more likely to be a result of changes in their manufacturing process than the mold specs being any different, but yeah I also really hope they've sorted out how to get dome back into their drivers. Incidentally, I have 4 Zenith's and 2 match up to the flight numbers pretty well while the other two are abolute beef. They're significantly flatter and the plh is much higher. It's wild
I think both are likely reasons. The patent pending embossing sticks OUT suggesting the mold had been engraved, NOT the disc. So I am willing to bet that the manufacturing process has changed but also the mold itself must be different as the patent pending is extra plastic on the disc in the original molds.
I think also they aren’t leaving them in the mold as long so the plastic isn’t cooling as much before they take it out which lets it shrink to flat more. I remember hearing or reading this somewhere but really I don’t know!
I think this is also likely! diff plastics (slight variations as well). Either way, hope they correct it soon. Patent Pending versions still tho...absolute chefs kiss!
I have seen some volts that are board flat and the parting line looks like a tilt. Gotta be picky if your going to throw mvp drivers. Don't blame anybody for choosing to throw something else.
Lack of dome is what made me give up on MVP drivers. If there is ever a symmetrical dome run on the Wave and Catalyst, I could be back.
The domey patent pending versions fly soooo well. If their new drivers had as much dome tbh it might monopolize my bag. I guess time will tell!
The latest James Conrad Fission Waves have a nice dome. They flip up and turn and then fade nicely!
Good to know! Hope on the horizon!

That is what I am hoping for! Yeah I will forever be on the lookout for patent pending runs on the used racks of local shops.

I can live with a flatter mid and fairway. Something about a board flat distance driver... just doesn't seem to fly like I need it to.
Interesting. I’ve noticed that before but never really thought much about it. 🙏
Keep an eye out for them patent pending gems! 🖖
Do they just set the discs on a table upside down when they come out of the mold? Seriously, it’s a problem
Every. Single. Patent Pending version I have thrown has been an incredible disc. The later variants have been a miss most often.

@@hotbeefdiscgolf oh yeah for sure. I didn’t mean to suggest that it’s the same mold but that all the dimensions were likely made to the same spec

The Volt is terrible. I will never use mine again.
