@prehistorichero2755 relax man, im not trying to harass you, furthermore im not even sure if it's a game, could be a series as there is a video on this account with a model of the rex fighting the dimetrodons titled '3d print of one of my TV show characters'

Impressive designs here! The T. rexes looking like samurai and the Dimetrodon looking like koi says so much about who created them, and why. They seem like they were intended to serve as living works of art rather than accurate representations of extinct animals, and that’s a very interesting angle to go in.
The Big Boss Dimetrodon (or Edaphosaurus or whatever) has fat jowls like a male Tegu lizard, and that detail combined with their koi-like coloration suggests that these sail-lizards that have since found success in the abandoned city were meant to be garish living art pieces or exotic pets (they're basically glorified iguanas).
I absolutely LOVE the idea of a setting like this that takes inspiration from the fact that the Japanese word for “dinosaur” literally translates to “fear dragon”
@@HaloForgeUltra I mean, it's not THAT far, tho. It's the fearsome/scary lizard. Invoking TERRor (and possibly reverence) is a meaning TERRible can have.
Just came back to this today and only now do I notice Father Rex was actually reading the sign instead of just looking at the neon lights. Don't know if that was how it was supposed to be interpreted but if so, it is a BRILLIANT way of subtly showing intelligence.
I heard of accounts that tyrannosaurus were intelligent as baboons or maybe like elephants in real life elephant have memories older than some members of their herd and they pass on knowledge to the next generation so maybe Yama's mother or father when Yama was Tori's age actually taught him about human signs and landmarks where it led to places where they could get food and water whilst on their nomadic journey and many years later Yama is passing on his knowledge to his son and when Tori eventually grows up he'll pass on his wisdom his own children and thus the samurai rex species will survive
This is actually insane. I love everything from the unique designs to the character you gave to all of the creatures. I especially love the huge alpha dimetrodon and how pompous and confident he looks
the yakuza dimetrodon sent me. very well done without being hyper anthropomorphized, from the way it holds itself and the camera angles with the narrowed eyes really sells its pompous nature.
I just don't get why a yakuza synapsid would be fighting against a dinosaur with the inclusion of rex "king" in its name, since the yakuza support the emperor and imperial japan. Makes no fucking sense. Immersion totally broken for me.
@@Saint_John_The_Forerunner There are plenty of people with "King" in their names, but that does not mean they are royalty. That may be the case with the Rex.

My heart skipped a beat when the rex tossed the Dimetrodon like it was nothing. The animation style, colors, models, EVERYTHING looks beautiful! I love this so much!
I can easily imagine a Samurai slashing goons in that scene too, it's just so cool. The Theropod's skull with a Samurai's Kabuto shape just.... for me, it's perfect. I want to see more, I would like to see a Dinosaur that had some kind of 'Templar Knight' or close of its image, It's just so cool
That Rex with Shogun armor is probably the most badass thing i've seen in years. the aesthetic looks amazing and visually pleasing! never thought i'd see the day where there's an actual Dinosaur show with neo-tokyo like aesthetic, i know it doesn't make sense, but it's been in my mind for a long time because it's such a cool concept to think about. this is just awesome!
I also like how the t rexes are somewhat scientifically accurate with lips not showing their teeth and the binocular vision. Plus the baby t rex has different body structure than its mother. Which would have accurate since younger t recession occupied different niches from the adult.
1:29 I love the contrast between the two. One eats their young, the other protects at all costs. I can't wait to see if this is some sort of foreshadowing for what the story will entail
Finally, a T. rex design with accurate proportions, interesting details, and not just a ripoff of Jurassic Park or King Kong. This looks very, VERY interesting!
@@cemilhan725 I don’t mind those because they’re obviously artistic choices by the creator, and I think they look very good. Helps their Rexes stand out from other designs.
I agree, the model is unique, it has realistic things but also fictitious, thus creating a beautiful and very unique design and I don't care about the footprints, it is a series for training, it is not a documentary.
A huge shout out to the team behind this project. The dedication, love and artistry that came into making this makes me super proud. Once again a New Zealand team punches above its weight!

The T-Rex in this is absolutely stunning, and it’s proof that you don’t need to forgo scientific accuracy to make an interesting design. Keeping the bulkiness and generally correct physique of the Rex while making it appear similar to a Samurai armor set is an amazing idea, and it fits with the setting amazingly. Awesome stuff!
One little detail that's cool is how the webbed spines of the dimetrodon look like the "sashimono" back banners Japanese warriors wore in battle to mark who they served. You can see this when the dimetrodon charge and the "banners" move back and forth as they run in
thats the detail you noticed? not that the city still has power after what appears to be years without human life (you know, to run the power plants and such)....
@@omegablast2002 It’s set in the future. Could be powered by solar panels or some other energy source that is renewable (hydro/wind) and requires minimal human intervention. In fact, they would still work for years if humans were to hypothetically disappear unlike our other energy sources like coal or nuclear. Also the banners clearly show that humans and dinosaurs lived alongside each other at some point. This could be set anywhere from 1-5 years after humans vanished.
@@enfieldlammergeierDon't be so sure about how long power sources like Hydro, Solar, and Wind will actually last, those systems require a lot more maintenance and repairs to keep them running behind the scenes, Solar less so, but even then they would need to be cleaned and maintained for them to operate for much longer than 10 years. Also powerlines, whether above or below ground would eventually be damaged.
@@TheHeroBeats Well, maybe this takes place 1 year after humans disappeared. Or 1 month. We don’t know. And even if we will find out, it’s futuristic anyway, so they could have figured out a way to produce energy with minimal human interference.

i loved that episode too! definitely agree with the sonnie's edge thing, the setting has that gritty futuristic vibe and that episode's the closest thing to it that i've seen
I don't know if anyone else noticed, but when you see the first dimetrodon it looks like he's eating a baby dimetrodon, which is a really cool detail as those creatures were known to be cannibalistic. I love the little touches in this trailer 🥰

This is bloody incredible! The art style, the world design, it's beautiful. And the Rexes look so unique! Gives me really heavy Rain World vibes in the context of the world.
That’s what I was thinking too, from the neon lights and fading signs of what was, to the creatures vaguely adjacent to their source material with many unique additions, all of them just trying to survive the new world they find themselves in.
I think that's there so that you connect with the lizard thing. You are merely projecting your atheistic monke brain into the 2d lizard who other monkes designed to communicate their monke brain to you. Sorry for behind the Oz curtain brain spoilers.
Is this going to be a reversal of Jurassic Park? As in instead of dinosaurs being cloned in the present, humans travel through time to colonize the Earth in the time of the dinosaurs?

@@LecherousLizard For dromaeosaurids (Velociraptor, Deinonychus, etc) yes, they absolutely should be. Relatives like Microraptor, and Zhenyuanlong had them, and Velociraptor was preserved with quill knobbs which suggests it did as well. Check out Prehistoric Planet's takes on those. For T. rex, it's still pretty much up in the air. The large consensus now is that they might not have had them due to their larger size, of if they did, it might have been something like an elephants hair. The only skin remains we have of it are of small patches of tiny scales. That said many of its earlier tyrannosauroid relatives like Dilong, and Yutyrannus have evidence of feathers or filaments. Basically absence of evidence might not be evidence of absence. Without extensive fossil material in this regard, there's room for interpretation yet still, until new discoveries challenge it in either direction.
Yeah it's kickass. I will never understand how some people have a problem with this design and say, "This isn't what the T-Rex looked like! Bullshit." Well, duh. I mean seriously, if we bring logic back into this conversation, this technically isn't a T-rex. This world which obviously takes place in a distant dystopian future, somehow, managed to bring Dinosaurs back but much like Jurassic Park, couldn't make exact clones of the Dinosaurs of old due to how impossible it is to just re-create Dinosaurs via their DNA. It it were that easy, we would have already done it. So they filled the gaps in the DNA with other things and created creatures that are similar to the original Dinosaurs, but are still technically Lab Experiment Monsters. Hence, the reason why this Theropodian Dinosaur that resembles a T-rex, has a crest/horns. Among other things.
*OMG This is GORGEOUS!* And can I just say how freaking cute the baby T-Rex is? The way he gets excited like a little kid when he finds a "toy" and then hides that "toy" when danger comes was too cute! I cannot wait for this to be turned into a series! I really hope the studio gets the funding it needs to make it happen
I love how the dimetrodons have the same colours as koi fish! A nice nod to Japanese wildlife! And the t rexes plating like samurai armour is so well done too!
Just got this recommended and damn. There are so many positive things to say about this, from the design (characters and environment), to the animation, to the sounddesign. But what really mesmerized me is the color-palette. I think the contrast between blue and redtones is very cyberpunk-esque and beautiful by default, but you managed to make it stand out even more than I'm used to. All those magentas, reds, purples and blues. Didn't think colors would be the main-thing to be mesmerized by when the theme isn't even about those, but daaamn. It looks so incredible!
This is something I've actually wanted to see for a long time now. Dinosaurs living in modern and even taking over society, something Dominion was supposed to but never gave to us. And, probably better than anything it COULD have given. I can't wait to see this when it comes out. Subscribed.
jurassic park is shit. they were already doing that in the first book. compies and raptors already escaped the island and were breeding for months. it was only gonna get worse with the lost world's second secret island. but spielberg and his spergs ruined a great franchise.
Actually is not that interesting, it will end in the exact same way as every other movie where there is a monster in a city: tanks and soldiers everywhere then total chaos with boring fire weapons fights by the moment is the only counter that human kind can do against such creatures, humans in dinosaurs world is amazing and interesting while dinosaurs in human world is just boring not becouse of dinosaurs but becouse of humans enviroment and actions that make everything boring

I also really appreciate the detail and accuracy gone into it. The T. rexes look really good for having built-in armour, the Dimetrodon looks great (an animal that deserves more love I think), the playfulness of the young Rex, treating them like actual animals and not movie monsters!

I don't know if this is a game, a movie, or a short film, but whatever it is, it looks SUPER interesting and I'm definitely eager to see more of this world :D
I genuinely love how the setting portrays that in the past humanity and dinosaurs coexisted but for untold reasons humanity went extinct or nearly extinct and now the dinosaurs (or seemingly dinosaurs) took over the world again and these dinosaurs have full on personality, the adult rex acting like a old man that likely wishes to teach his young one about the past of how things were, the young Rex being super curious and finds humanity really interesting and the dimetrodon acting just like how a crime lord would and assumes the wrong thing and orders his men to get rid of the two intruders that stumbled into his city.
Not sure if the dimetrodon at 1:35 has a name but I'll call him Boss Dimitri. Also love how much personality you give each of the creatures with just the visuals with out having some sort of narration over it.

This is an absolute marvel. Never have I seen a private animated show with such detail, love, passion and creativity as this. Each frame is like a painting with the gorgeous lights, a stunning layout and intricate details to this dystopian Japanese city. 10/10 trailer, doesn’t show too much but enough to hype not just the stunning visuals but the action and lore. How were these dinosaurs made and why? What happened to humanity? What will happen to the genetically engineered and mutated reptiles now seemingly taking over? A show with questions and imageries like this is surely one to earn a 10/10.

FINALLY!!! A game that is forcings on make the dinosaurs just look cool and a bit accurate at the same time! Listen I like my dinosaurs scientifically accurate, but sometimes it gets to repetitive. The fact is we don't know what they truly look like, so why don't we have fun with it?! Bright colors, crazy abilities, and more oddities! I can't wait too see what this becomes!
This is absolutely incredible, and exactle what dinosaurs need in terms of storytelling and creative but accurate reconstruction. I do find it funny that they're both North American species, when Japan has so many incredible fossils
We’re probably going to see a Tricamurai or Ankyloronin. Not exactly Japanese dinos, but Triceratops and Ankylosaurus are equally as famous as Rex that we’ll certainly see them.
I think that detail could pretty easily be explained away by background details in the setting. We see multiple posters depicting humans and dinosaurs existing together, so this seems to be a world where dinosaurs are still around into the modern age and are potentially domesticated and/or transported around the world similar to real animals today. Animals from other parts of the world are present everywhere in the modern age, we have dog species that have been exported from their original countries of origin to new countries all the time. It reminds of me the scene in the film I AM LEGEND, where Will Smiths character encounters a wild lion in New York years after the end of the world. Clearly this lion was kept in a zoo, and went on to escape and continue living on and potentially having babies in a setting that is extremely far removed from its original habitat. So I’m this world, dinosaurs are as naturally present as dogs and cats are to us. Who’s to say that they didn’t have a zoo or sanctuary in Japan that had some North American dinosaurs, and those got out and populated Japan after whatever apocalypse ended this world. I’m really excited to see what this project does with these concepts, and I seriously can’t get over how cinematic and beautifully made this short was. Such a beautiful and interesting world that I can’t wait to explore further as more is released about it! Wow I can’t believe I didn’t even read the video description before I posted this comment. Dinosaurs were genetically re-engineered by the humans Jurassic Park style. Still, that’s explains why there would be North American dinosaurs in Japan. Still, it’s a great concept and I can’t wait to see how they handle it, and hopefully that detail gives the developers and artists freedom to put any cool dinosaur from any part of the world into their game. Dinosaurs are sick as fuck and I can’t wait to see the designs and gameplay elements that bring them to life
This will end up being a cinematic masterpiece. Mark my words. Who would have imagined a whole herd of dimetrodons inhabiting a deserted neon city. Genius concept !

He'd probably be more stressed than me, so... the timing makes me think he's scolding Tori
Imagine not just JP, but the whole world about Dinosaurs and their artistic designs, I want to see an egyptian Spinosaurus, I want to see a Megalosaurus but in Brigand or Knight-like design. Just it explodes in my mind why we didn't do that before. This untapped world is so amazing.
I’m Hella excited for this, not only the Tyrannosaurs accurate(minus the Samurai armor) their postures seem accurate and the Dimetrodons are so cool too, I love the fact how the first one on the Car was eating a baby which we know Dimetrodons were cannibals. Lovin’ this. My only nitpick is that the dimetrodon are somewhat more resembling edaphosaurus, the main prey item of the former. Everything about this has me absolutely intrigued, from the premise and aesthetic!!! I absolutely cannot wait for more (Also finally the sequel to Tokyo Jungle everyone wanted!)
Never before have I rooted so much for a T- Rex to wreak absolute HAVOK! That feeling was conjured because of the care given to the curiosity of the youngling, the guardianship of the adult T-Rex (which looked amazing in yaroi-like plating and the kabuto-inspired horns!) , and the partially reclaimed urban jungle setting haunted by a predator that even the Rex paid respect to. Let me know where my money will be going to see this in all its glorious animation!!!
Omg a LoVE this. The fact that it's Japan and the Dinos have physical characteristics that are very distinctively inspired by Japanese culture and aesthetic yet also subtle enough to not look silly. The Dino sitting there like a fat mob boss, covered in beautiful markings reminiscent of giant Koi, the T Rex with scales and horn that make it appear to be a samurai....it's just *chefs kiss*
gotta love the mix of sci-fi, fantasy, and up-to-date paleo design in the animation. Something you don't normally see in media these days. There isn't an overwhelming amount of edgy awesomebro effects in it.

What I love about Kyryu's lore is it's very similar to Rain World. Both are in a dystopian/post-apocolyptic setting, both where you now live in the ruins of a lost civilzation. In Kyoryu, you're a dinosaur in the ruins of the fallen human race, while in Rain World, ur a slugcat in the ruins of a lost ancient civilization, that died out way before the world of Rain World Existed, while you avoid vicious predators and take shelter from deadly rain.

@@omegablast2002 Maybe they weren't a fuckhead who masturbates to the cinema sins method of consuming media.

It’s set in the future.

Um... weren't dinosaurs like t-rex and velociraptor supposed to be feathered or something?
@@LecherousLizard apparently full feathered Dinosaurs isn't as "accurate" as it was thought.

Everything about this has me absolutely intrigued, from the premise and aesthetic!!!

(Also finally the sequel to Tokyo Jungle everyone wanted!)

It's not a game.
