as someone who started minecraft on java, and got used to the ease of adding so many potential mods, but had to switch to bedrock in order to play with friends who don't have computers, this is a *huge* development. really exited to see what add-ons become available in the future
Found an interesting glitch; if you activate the add-ons while on a pre-existing realm world, then you can still have achievements active. With certain tnt one, that means you can obtain bed rock in a pure survival world... Edit: dragonfire lite and dragonfire have different dragons so having both allows 29 dragons while dragon fire by itself has 21 and dragonfire lite has 8.
There are two things im curious about: 1) When Minecraft were working on Render Dragon and the shaders, they mentioned it would be accesible to community creators, so im curious if addons will he how shaders are introduced for Bedrock 2) its more of a niche thing, but im also curious how licensed things will work. There are Mods that might be related to existing shows or films and other stuff, and im curious if they will be restricted as it all goes through the marketplace
It will be interesting to see what they put out for the add-ons. I agree that quality control may not be as we would want it to be. I've gotten many things from the Marketplace that were problematic, to the point where I pretty much quit getting anything. And there is nothing you can do to get any help if one of them causes a problem. It's how I ended up on Twitter. At that point, it was the only way to get to any Minecraft Bedrock support. But all they'd tell me is that they don't support anything from the Marketplace. Fortunately, there are now in-game ways of getting support which I fortunately haven't needed since I quit using things from the Marketplace.
I often wish I had Java instead. However, my godson wanted to play Minecraft with me and his device couldn't use Java, only Bedrock. So, I got Bedrock too.
Java and Bedrock cross-play already exists with the Geyser plugin. Unless you are meaning modded minecraft, which is unlikely to ever be fully compatible between both versions.
Hopefully some mods and resource packs that improve performance get added later. I am considering buying the naturalist mod… but based off the performance of it in your video… it’s not great. Adding like sodium and stuff like that would be incredible. And i also hope popular shaders get brought over too
So I have some of the free add ons to bedrock/ phone edition. Wool, decorate, hiker, and gravestone. Are the ones I checked out. And it's not terrible you can turn them on for any existing world's. The books are ok. It's pretty nice. I've got a couch and stool in my house now, and I plan on making a grandfather clock. The wool colors are nice, there's a LOT of colors like over 50 new ones and a 'sparkly' version of all the colors. The hiker one is nice it adds a sleeping bag and a nice walking stick that helps you move faster. The gravestone saves all your items when you die. It's awesome. I love it. These are the FREE ADD ONS, from the marketplace. And I haven't tested EVEYTHING on them but their very nice for a free add on. I recommend getting them. There's also a free dragon, pets, and I think another one that I haven't tryed out yet, but they look ok. And hey, a free change to a vanilla game sound cool to me. If any of you have played these too, give tips. I'd love to hear if there are any weird bugs since this stuff is new. Thanks for reading.
Addons have always been available, only now they are available there. Until now, you could install them from different sites, but you can still install them (it's a better alternative because it's much better and much important is that it's free)
I think the point is it’s great for console, before console couldn’t get mods that didn’t stay in the world they came in and you couldn’t combine them. This is revolutionary for console players
Ive been playing minecraft on consoles since 2012, i played java for a couple years along side console but haven't played java in probably 7 years. Never got mods to work on my computer. This is the first time ive been able play with mod-like stuff on my own worlds. Thats pretty huge for me
People act like this isnt new and has been here forever when it hasnt, you can get so manny things but they are in a already built world, you have never been able to add on these things to your own survival world, this is the first step to finally making bedrock have "mods" like pc, which manny of us have been waiting forever for, personally ive wanted mods on consol for the 11 years that ive played minecraft. I know they would never do it but I wish we got furniture. Also, Mojang should add wooden walls. Since they won't give us vertical slabs. We have pretty much all wall types except for wood. Tuff walls are coming in the next update of course.
I'm happily using the free furniture add-on to design my world. Y'all, try the free dragon one in a separate new world FIRST because its really annoying and you might (or might not) want to disable it after using it, but it says if disabled it could corrupt your world so try it out first because those dragons are huge and spawn in any large area, EVEN IN THE HOUSE and its annoying. Okay bye.
I love this animal add on it was well with the 7. 99 I was skeptical at first but I love the new items animals and blocks it makes the game so much more interesting I mean piranhas in the rivers are pretty awesome.
They’ve had add ons for a while as far as i could tell. They usually overtake other resources from the game itself to minimize entities. Don’t want the pocket edition people to have their phones explode now.

I hope that they update the addons if they can so that there aren't like 2 ostrich mobs or anything like that. I actually kinda want to try out the animal one, but I have neither a functioning device with which to play Minecraft on (My phone doesn't allow me to play because I have no space, my laptop's charger broke and I can't find a replacement, and my PlayStation needs fixed) or money to buy it with, but I might get it someday.

You can steal the wandering traders pets by leashing them. I LOVE the pet pack and have stolen several puppies from the Wandering pet trader already. Stole a llama from the wandering trader as well but it's more fun to get the leashes from that guy.
Minecraft bedrock has it uses to play in bed when its cold. Plus its cute and adorable i grew up on bedrock on ps3 but then went to java and i love java but this will solve playing when its cold. Getting it on xbox now just for the add ons

I just don't like the modern esthetic in Minecraft, I like my crafting with with swords, smelting and dungeons. Not things I see in my house everyday like computers and dishwashers and crap. I play Minecraft to escape reality not clean and design my laundry room and virtual kitchen.

if shaders come to bedrock then ill go back to bedrock. i ported my save to java and lost player data and all the movs
There’s some paid textures/shaders in bedrock marketplace. No idea if they are any good though

All those addons break the legit survival seal and disable achievements and are therefore completely useless.

I have an old PC that I use for gaming and it can't run Java. So having add-ons on Bedrock is incredible and so easy to install.
