This is an excerpt from a series of OSHO Talks titled "Yahoo - The Mystic Rose", in which Osho develops the OSHO MYSTIC ROSE, one of his meditative therapies.

If you are wondering why everybody is laughing for something that is not so hilarious, this is a meditation technique developed by OSHO called the mystic rose. It is a three week programme where the first week is Ya-Hoo (laughter-therapy), second week is Ya-Boo (crying) and the third week is Watcher on the hills - you stay very silent as on the top of a mountain.

Oh. Now it makes sense why he says at the end, should we do the exercise. This turned out so incredibly funny and brought them already so much laughter.. there was no need for "the exercise". Haha..Thank you.. Xx..

I met Osho when he was Acharya Rajneesh and. Sat and listened to him as a 14 year old. He was magnificent. A total hypnotic genius. Loved him then n love him today. Feel so blessed.

The questioner is so serious!! They are claiming deep serious experiences. Awakening is not so serious, as explained in the words introducing the clip. The audience and especially Osho finds it comically serious and demonstrating a lack of true realization.

It was exactly the video i needed to watch, because i was very upset yesterday from two videos i saw with the death of Osho and how he was poisoned by the US government and of the US Christian priesthood.It was not planned to watch it ,I was already watching another video and i stopped it to watch this video without knowing its contents.It was the happiest video I ve watched and i needed it.I believe Osho did it for me..Thank you Master.
A master is the most non serious person .... every thing is so non serious ...we are diseased because we get overly emotional and serious .

I don't know why the laughter started. It's possible the audience had just been through the grinder, emotionally, and needed some release. Then, the seriousness and desperation of the letter was, to many people, a reflection of their own seriousness and struggle. So they laughed and this started a chain reaction which even affected Osho to a small extent.
That's my interpretation. Many people have seen this sort of thing before even in non-spiritual settings, but it's puzzling without context.
