A tip for repairing the Castle walls from another video: You don't need to proximity-place any pillars or scaffolding to grab the pre-built wall. Just group-pick up the wall near the top edge, and you can work it into place by standing on the battlements. The height or location you grab an object at in build-mode changes how it is held in the air when you move it around. Some trial and error will get you a nice fit on the wall. You can then fill in small gaps at the top with the 1/4 size flat floor pieces.
Before the DLC came out, people would use the fence posts that are in the wire fence menu. If you'll notice, everything in that menu has a duplicate. One half of the set can clip through the ground, while the other half cannot. Knowing the difference and using that to your advantage when pillar glitching can be helpful. For instance, if you DON'T want an object to clip through the ground, but stay right on top of it. Other objects that sit on a normal floor, like the ashtray can be used for this method as well. An expanded variation of the pillar glitch involves measuring the homes at Sanctuary Hills (4 x 2.5 for some). Build the floor with foundations, add a normal wall (from either the metal, wood or concrete sets), and then add a ceiling that matches the floor. Now you can pillar glitch the entire assembly into on of the houses. This method allows you to 1) make the houses count as having roofs for sleeping under and covers up hole in the roof , 2) Let's you place a floor that covers up most of the debris and leaves in most of the houses, and 3) allows you to place walls in areas to cover up the gaps in the house walls. You can then go further and pillar glitch in some glass pieces to cover the windows. To finish this off you can now place a door into the existing doorway. But, be warned, only one house lets you snap doors to the frame. That house is the yellow one that has the workbench outside of it. How do you get doors into the other frames? Place a door frame on a level piece of ground. Choose your door and snap it into place. Place your pillar tool of choice, as close to the door as possible. Now, remove the door frame. Now group select. This allows you to place the door wherever you want. And, if you don't have ocd already, trying to align a door to a frame in this way, will definitely get you there! As a side note. You can also just pillar glitch a wall with a doorway already in it, into a wall. Then snap the door in place. It just doesn't work everywhere.
Fallout 4 sat on my shelf for awhile but im back again in 2022, ive watched alot of your videos awhile back, learned alot and is a great refresher getting back into it. Thank you for all of your content, and even more so appreciate the in depth explanations and examples, subscribed 😁
What I did before learning any sort of glitches (not even that long ago) was, I used the concrete WALLS. My goal was to fix the walls while having little interior sections to get creative with, plus I had the smaller wall sizes to work with. Surprisingly I fully repaired them, completely seamlessly.
there is an easy solution to stop the pillar popping. 1. select the pillar tool. 2. cancel the selection. 3. group select the pillar tool. this should reset everything and get rid of the popping. :)
Hey Paul, you have a good understanding of the mechanics of this game. So, if you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask! You have a few of us that follow you , that are familiar with the settlement building constrictions. So if you have a query on how things works, reach out. I'm still working on a game save that I can submit for your contest. But, if you have questions, we are here to help. I know you've helped me a couple of times. On a side note. I'm just curious. Has anyone had a CTD (crash to desktop) bug when attempting wiring? Mainly concerning the contraptions workshop addition of logic switches. I ran into as crash the other day, when I was trying to reconstruct the vault 42 automated rad cleaner setup. I haven't retried yet to see what happened, due to having a wiring bug while I had mods running. I hope that this isn't related. Another side note. . . . Paul, how is the best way to contact you. I would love to submit a build for your contest, but, I'm afraid that my situation may compromise my entry. Either way, I'd still like to submit something, just for show and tell.
Court, thanks for adding your value to the channel! I consider myself a master builder but there's _always_ more to learn. I'll be the first to admit that. I love learning new things from viewers as much as they might learn new things from me. That's what makes the Fallout 4 building community so cool. And I've met a lot of those cool people just in the last month alone. I haven't experienced any crash issues with the logic gates but the logic gates as well as the auto-arch are both videos coming up in my black diamond lessons. As for the NMSC challenge, I'm looking forward to seeing what you and others in the community come up with! There's no limitation on expertise. There's no rush either. At the midpoint of the deadline, I'll put up a dedicated contest rules video. In that video, I'll explain the best ways to submit links, such as through the Skooled Zone website.
I have found that when you are doing the Pillar Glitch with items that also sink, you sometimes need to move your "pillar" up or down a little to prevent the hopping issue you were having. I only notice it with other sinkable items, but it is consistently an issue for me. Great video, and I love the conduit idea too.
This video really helped out. I had been struggling trying to get some of the wall fixtures to sit low enough in my vault to look right, but nothing was working. The main one I had an issue with was the sinks. On a vault wall, the sink sits about halfway up the wall, not even close to realistic. Using this trick, I was able to place the sink exactly where I wanted it. Thank you!
Very helpful as usual, I’m about to take the castle, mainly to get away from our Minutemen friend and his constant nagging, so tips on wall repairs are very handy. Thanks again Paul. 😀
2024 and I'm just now finding your videos. Played FO4 since release and I gotta say my attempts at building settlements has been pitiful at best, your videos are making me realize how much I didn't know. Thanks for the series 👍🏽
The glitch to get the spiked raider poles to work is select the item that doesn't work on its own then de-select it that makes it the last placed item then group select the item that you just worked with... For some reason it updates the item to its actual position which then allows you to place it without it glitching up..
I started watching these videos to learn about F4 building, then kept watching vids I didn't actually need just because of how it makes my day how happy this dude is and how he laughs all the time! I really like this channel
Been playing Fallout 4 since its release and I am very late to this channel. But I've still learned tonnes and am now rebuilding my settlements. I find a lot of gamer youtubers really irritating, but not you, sir. Love the cheery delivery and demeanor, the professionalism of your videos and the concise delivery of information.
Had to pause the video for a min., and just say, you are very talented at teaching. I've spent all day watching your no-mods shop class vids, (or at least the first few). I've learned so much, and your delivery is great! I pre-ordered this game, and never knew, I knew so little. I hope by the time you read this, you are making a ton of caps doing youtube vids.
Welcome to the Skooled Zone! I have way to many hours playing Fallout 4...lol Even so, I often find myself back in the Skooled Zone, either to freshen up on settlement build tips or gather creative inspiration ideas... His content is as relevant now as in the beginning... Lots of appreciation and love to the Skooled Zone channel and to its creator...💜
Hey Skooled Zone! I think I have good solution to the whole popping up, sometimes that happens to me. I usually bring whatever is sunken down into the ground all the way up, and have it sorta sitting on top of the ground or above the ground just a tiny bit. Group select your item and sink it down from there. I know there might be other solutions out there though, I hope that helps!
Subscribed. I've just started diving deeper into no mod settlement building and have learned some useful things from your videos over the last couple of days. Thanks!
DAMN... I never knew and never even thought of this... I make a row across the top and spend SO SO SO much time linning the blocks up on the bottom so I can do this. Thank you... Now it kinda sucks cause now I want to tear my castle as well as my Spectacle Island build apart and do them again
Finally getting serious about settlement building. I play on PC modded to the gills but damn dude these are great pointers for taking it to the next level.
One thing I'd add for anyone who watches this. You can try putting some scaffoldings on both sides of the shack foundations to make it look more like it's under construction. For me at least it helps take the eyes away from the shack foundations not having lines like the cinder blocks
Decided to get into FO4 again now that the DLC's where discounted. I wanted to get back to improving my settlement, i came across your channel while looking for building stuffs and I am so glad I did! you are legit one of the nicest youtubers out there and you explain everything so clear! keep it up mah dude! you earned yourself a sub!
I never knew about the pillar glitch...you just made much building SOOOO much easier...things I've wanted to do but never could...now I can. Especially with, yes, a few mods i do use, like Place Anything...THANK YOU.
For that "glitch" with the group select popping up, select one piece (changes focus to that piece) then cancel/de-select. (PS is "x" for select & "o" for cancel, XB is "A" & "B") then simply use that piece as your group select focus. I use mods (mostly aesthetic/building mods) but still love your videos & use a lot of the techniques that you showcase & explain so well
Hi Paul, another homerun video. Should have used junk fences with the pillar to show to them flat the ground areas where ground isn't flat and touching junk fences. To prevent objects group selected from popping up, group select them clicking at at the top of the object so your looking up to start with then down when moving. Can you do a lesson on settlement building object size management. Let me explain. For the longest time I've used the settlement size glitch to build more then the settlement size allows you to, however once I start doing this I lose FPS and sometimes start crashing even if I haven't gone over the limit much. Recently I've started noticing what certain billable objects take size wise. Like concrete is the worst because it takes the absolute most space settlement size bar wise. Foundation takes the most of all objects that I can tell. So when building I avoid foundation when I don't need it, like in the middle of a building I'll use matching wood floor. Settlement size management is something I've never seen any TH-camr cover.
Paul, I'm a huge fan and all of your videos helped me with my gameplay. I tried to do everything that you did in your walkthrough but I'm still waiting for you to continue your trivia walkthrough
Hey thanks! Don't worry, I haven't abandoned my trivia walkthroughs. The No Mods Shop Class is only a mini-series. Next month I'll start working my walkthroughs back into the mix. More explained in an upcoming announcements video!
Excellent job of the explanation of how to utilize a technique with a thorough demonstration as opposed to simply a "this is how I did it" video. It brings back some of the possible work around tools that I have long since forgotten. Thanks.
I see that others have commented with a solution, but the *reason* why things pop up when you do the group select is that you have handled some other object before grabbing the object you want as the focus for your selected group. In your case you handled the shack foundations before those raider poles. When you then start the group select, it follows the placement of the previous object, i.e. the shack foundation. That is why you have to first select your focus object normaly, release it and then group select in order for you to get the desired result. But if the focus object is the last object you placed, this isn't a problem.
It is annoying if you don't know what's going on. If, for instance you are trying to move a row of concrete foundations, you might need to select the last placed foundation and either cancel the move or replace it. After that, the group select should function as it's supposed to. Sometimes, however, you will need to select your "pillar" and either delete it or replace it. This seems to be connected to a group of items that were "snapped" too close to an object that was placed in a "red zone". For instance, if I place a foundation at Starlight drive-in, next to the screen, and then snapped another foundation next to it. The second foundation may not have been able to be placed normally, due to being too close to the screen, or too much ground interfering. That's when you want to try and select the upper-most portion of your grouping, to keep it from "jumping", or turning "red" when you try and move it. Keep in mind that uneven ground, in certain circumstances, is just another "object, and not ground. Small hills with trees are an example of this. They are not part of the ground. Rather they were place onto of the "ground". This is where having certain mods like "scrap everything" comes in handy. It let's you see what is actually considered "ground". This is also the case with certain decals, such as leaf or debris piles. I know this is a "no mods" tutorial, but having an understanding of how the game mechanics work, helps indefinitely. I gamed unmodded until just recently, and the mods I did/do use, showed me a little bit about how the game handles certain things. And there is no harm in knowing how the system works, to enable you to work around the limitations. This is how the rug/pillar glitch and settlement limit glitches were found, after all.
I have played fallout 4 over and over since it was released on Xbox , PC and now I’m playing it again on ps5. I have done all the quests about like 5 times now but my best time was the very first time before any TH-cam videos or even mods were out. When everything was new and you had to really experience it yourself. It was so much fun and I spent hundreds of more hours on that first run.
That bird 🐦 saying was so cute. Save two 🐦 🐦 s with one stone throw it at the tree so birds fly away and the hunter can't shoot them lol I love that....
Thanks you so much now i can now bulid better things without snapping and I bulid everything from no mods shop class. I never use mods because i want achievements. And another thank you som much
For the raider spike problem you got, select the one your going to group select with separately, move it cancel it out. Then and when it pops back to where it was you should be able to group select and be able to move it up and down without it popping back up into the air.
One of the things I like about FO4 is that they took Boston and nearly made the exact replica of it before they put all the highways underground. All the suburbs, and regions of the named city in this vanilla portion of the game are real areas of the city.
Definitely. I talk a lot about that during my trivia walkthroughs. And if you're a baseball fan, you'll like this video: th-cam.com/video/8A29WKefmVA/w-d-xo.html
14:18 Sure its realy nice to have that cap closed up entirly, and I did it years ago. But if you already build that wall and you decide to do the Minuteman missions afterall it will be a big problem. Ronnie Shaw needs that cap while she explaining the working of the artilery. Somehow she needs the whole cap. She will walk underneed the top layer though. 3 solutions; -1. Never play Minuteman. As you mentioned. -2. Build after you did that mission. -3 Just buld a bridge on top using floors or whatever you want to use.
Great video! I really like the new classroom, too! I don't always learn something new, but I'm always entertained none-the-less. I'm looking forward to the next class!
I found to keep the pop up when group selecting is to grab the pillar first and dont group select, just grab and select just the pillar then unselect it , then grab and group select. It usually always works to fix that pop up and I found it depends on where your cursor is on the pillar when you group select, for me the higher up the better. I don't know if it will work for everyone but works for me.
You can build the walls pretty solidly without the pillar glitch by building a bridge over the top of the walls and then replacing it a piece at a time with the cement blocks. That's how I've always done it on the completely vanilla version of the game. Plus it's good for navigating and building on top of the wall. I even built some nice hoardings up there.
That issue you're having where the item you're group selecting jumps up: Try single selecting the itme you're going to use for the group select. Then cancel the single select. Then group select using that same item. It happens sometimes with the pillar glitch too, when you move the item you're glitching before you group select it. It's fixed by single selecting the pillar, cancelling, and then doing the group select.
A way I’ve found that sometimes helps with the height issue on the group select, is that I’ll select a spot higher up on the object. So instead of having my cursor at “eye height”, I’ll select the pillar or whatever within about 1/3 of the height (from the top). I hope that makes sense 😅 I think it was 2021 sometime when I finally got into fallout 4, and I’m super grateful for your videos! You’ve given me so much helpful knowledge!
I just wanted to say thank you for all the lessons you've taught me. From the rug glitch to how to rotate the pieces your trying place! Thank YOU SO much!
@@SkooledZone I tried rebuilding the Castle walls myself by just doing it and it looked ok but nothing I'd submit for a prize. Then i did it like you did in the video and it looks amaze-balls! Thanks again! Do you have a skilled zone Facebook page? I'm always talking you up on the 'Fallout 4 Settlement building' page.
Pardon if this has been mentioned before: the little icons in the top right corner (wrench, gear, etc) of your inventory selections indicate the DLC from which it was added. No icon indicates it's original (or "vanilla). Thanks for posting :D
Jamaica Plain would be considered a more of a district than a borough, I think. Same with other areas like Charlestown (where Bunker Hill is located), Cambridge (where MIT is located), Mission Hill (Where Harvard med is located), South Boston, etc. Boston's districts are much smaller than NYC's five boroughs.
Thankyou for this, I managed to make a smart little powered door safe room in sanctuary thanks to this video and the one about the wire glitch to keep my valuables safe
Rugs for horizontal placement and concrete pillars for vertical placement. “Select all”works well too as long as you have no foundation pieces connected to it. Carry your entire build wherever you want
When you were group selecting the raider spikes, instead of aiming at the middle of the group, point and aim your cursor at the highest point at the top of the spikes then when you look down while they're selected the group will go with it your cursor downwards. it's so much easier to sink them that way.
Woah. The Castle looks so alien to me now that I've set up my main settlement there. It doesn't have patched walls or my giant apartment building or anything. It kinda looks sad, honestly :(
Doing the walls at the castle us the stairwell with the small platform to add the the cement foundations. Also you can completely foundation the holes. Just takes some adjusting. Lol 5 years later.
Wow I have just watched some of your videos and will now stray to do more on my builds With the help you have shown it will be so much more fun. I wasn't going to bother with the builds as tilt was soooo much hassle. So thanks and I will subscribe to your channel. Big thumbs up. I don't usually subscribe but you have this down and your not screaming in my hear lol. Good job.
2021 and I'm just finding this channel a maybe a month ago Hopefully they still have some of these techniques and more with fallout 5 if and when it reveals
If you put down a prefab stairwell and put a floor on it, you can put your "chassis" on it, remove the floor and put another scaffolding under it so you can pillar glitch things to the second floor.. Was trying to figure out how to get a doorway in a settlement while I was fixing its wall on the second floor.
"Murder hole". Hahaha. I love it! I am really enjoying this series, Paul... and in combination with watching your settlement contest's entries, the creative juices are starting to flow. 👍
Default build tendency is to select low for precise floor placement, but, for group select of tall submergible groups, it works *much* better to group select higher on the item, it won't jump out of sight, that way. The bottoms of items that submerge "jump", in group select, by roughly the height of one foundation block.
Love all your videos! So inspiring and really pumps me up to keep exploring and adventuring! I’ve learned so much from you, which has made my gameplay experience even better(:
Subscribed - need to go back and like all the videos I've watched. You're refreshing - I don't remember the last time I've heard someone ENJOYING making their videos as much as you clearly do. Great work!
2024 still here rewatching. I was thinking how to let my provisioners pass the Castle's gate but enemies don't (just for estatic) without me opening anything for them. Nor closing. I was thinking about a powered door that disconnects if a guard activates the siren, that would cut it's power, closing it. But decided to just make a long runway for the visitors, using wired fence. A long corridor, that turns back, again long then turns back and again long. Let the super mutants use my runway, lol. Along my turrets.
I got a nice settlement to share with the SkoolZone, No Mods of Course and this is going to blow minds as well. So if I could share I would be delighted to show my work. I call it the NoModTidings.
Group select Pop Up problem: When you select do it farther UP the item. This will give you more down ward controll. There is a limit to this affectivenes , and at opposite ends they do the same extreme lift as it does on the bottom grab.

Skooled Zone,

Haha, like an apple on the desk. I'll have to remember that for the video after next.
A tip for repairing the Castle walls from another video:
You don't need to proximity-place any pillars or scaffolding to grab the pre-built wall.
I love how you expanded on the principles of the pillar glitch. ill have to use this from now on
👍

Got my series x for tax holiday in august and loaded fallout 4 on it lol. I swear it looks optimized more on it than the default pc version.
Ditto...can't get enough of Paul! Hope his script project is going well!!
In addition to that, selecting the pillar tool as far above ground as you can, can help minimize the jumping effect.
Good tip, also getting close to the item and looking down when you select it can help too.
Really appreciate it guys. All those tips worked! #nomoreheadaches ;)
Watching these again to get more ideas for my new playthrough.
Never even knew about this glitch until now. Thanks Paul!
Glad to help!
I have found that when you are doing the Pillar Glitch with items that also sink, you sometimes need to move your "pillar" up or down a little to prevent the hopping issue you were having. I only notice it with other sinkable items, but it is consistently an issue for me. Great video, and I love the conduit idea too.
I'm on a role... Video after video after video. Absolutely amazing ideas, concepts, delivery and narration. Brilliant!
Very well structured video, I love how you introduced it by first explaining the other "glitches" that went into it. I learned a lot, I love these.
Thank you!
Very cool Ben. And to take the sinks a step further check out this video: th-cam.com/video/qIbwd5wZViY/w-d-xo.html
2024and i'm coming to these videos
I started watching these videos to learn about F4 building, then kept watching vids I didn't actually need just because of how it makes my day how happy this dude is and how he laughs all the time!
I really like this channel
Been playing Fallout 4 since its release and I am very late to this channel.
But I've still learned tonnes and am now rebuilding my settlements.
I find a lot of gamer youtubers really irritating, but not you, sir.
Love the cheery delivery and demeanor, the professionalism of your videos and the concise delivery of information.
Really appreciate that man!
I have way to many hours playing Fallout 4...lol
Even so, I often find myself back in the Skooled Zone, either to freshen up on settlement build tips or gather creative inspiration ideas...
His content is as relevant now as in the beginning...
Lots of appreciation and love to the Skooled Zone channel and to its creator...💜
Everytime I come here my settlers gain happiness, great guide!
17:38
Select the middle spiked pole a bit higher, so you can lower it more. Fixes the raising problem. But before that, do what Tree Myers says to do.
This made me so happy. I fixed the Castle for my first use of the pillar glitch. Awesome
this aint the first video from you ive seen others and i decided to sub because after two years you still make fallout vids
Cool. Welcome to the Zone! 👍
Thanks!
👍 Welcome to the Zone!
Thank David and modders can definitely still use all these tips and tricks! :)
One thing I'd add for anyone who watches this. You can try putting some scaffoldings on both sides of the shack foundations to make it look more like it's under construction. For me at least it helps take the eyes away from the shack foundations not having lines like the cinder blocks
2022 and I'm still watching ur videos, best guides out there by a long shot
Decided to get into FO4 again now that the DLC's where discounted. I wanted to get back to improving my settlement, i came across your channel while looking for building stuffs and I am so glad I did! you are legit one of the nicest youtubers out there and you explain everything so clear! keep it up mah dude! you earned yourself a sub!
Really kind of you to say, and welcome aboard!
I never knew about the pillar glitch...you just made much building SOOOO much easier...things I've wanted to do but never could...now I can. Especially with, yes, a few mods i do use, like Place Anything...THANK YOU.
Right on, Mia. Yeah, my lessons should still help even if you use mods. :)
thank you for explaining group select. it has confused me for awhile
Thanks.
👍
I see that others have commented with a solution, but the *reason* why things pop up when you do the group select is that you have handled some other object before grabbing the object you want as the focus for your selected group.
In your case you handled the shack foundations before those raider poles.
When you then start the group select, it follows the placement of the previous object, i.e. the shack foundation.
That is why you have to first select your focus object normaly, release it and then group select in order for you to get the desired result. But if the focus object is the last object you placed, this isn't a problem.
Great explanation!
Skooled Zone Thanks! I haven't seen any videos on the subject, but it fits with my experimentation. I'm sure others have figured it out also.
What an amazing channel
I have played fallout 4 over and over since it was released on Xbox , PC and now I’m playing it again on ps5. I have done all the quests about like 5 times now but my best time was the very first time before any TH-cam videos or even mods were out. When everything was new and you had to really experience it yourself. It was so much fun and I spent hundreds of more hours on that first run.
That bird 🐦 saying was so cute. Save two 🐦 🐦 s with one stone throw it at the tree so birds fly away and the hunter can't shoot them lol I love that....
Hunter : turns around and shoots you
A bird can be shot while flying you know
@@jackhopler6833 Shh he made a wholesome saying that's not the point.
Returning student here to refresh and get recertifications in case wasteland building becomes unionized this year!
👷👍
One of the things I like about FO4 is that they took Boston and nearly made the exact replica of it before they put all the highways underground. All the suburbs, and regions of the named city in this vanilla portion of the game are real areas of the city.
Definitely. I talk a lot about that during my trivia walkthroughs. And if you're a baseball fan, you'll like this video: th-cam.com/video/8A29WKefmVA/w-d-xo.html
14:18 Sure its realy nice to have that cap closed up entirly, and I did it years ago. But if you already build that wall and you decide to do the Minuteman missions afterall it will be a big problem. Ronnie Shaw needs that cap while she explaining the working of the artilery. Somehow she needs the whole cap. She will walk underneed the top layer though. 3 solutions;
Another great video paul. You keep showing me more and more about the building tools in fallout 4.
👍
This is a channel and a dude, dedicated and awesome who made history.
2022 and still enjoying this content no matter how many times I watch it all
Great tips, as always. I'm really enjoying this series.
👌
I hope that makes sense 😅
I think it was 2021 sometime when I finally got into fallout 4, and I’m super grateful for your videos! You’ve given me so much helpful knowledge!
Thanks Amanda. We figured it out in a separate video: th-cam.com/video/D76HR039mDI/w-d-xo.html
@@SkooledZone yay! Thank you for linking the video, I’ll definitely go watch it today!!!
group select as close to the ground as possible that don't just affect group selection it will do that on any item you select when on pc
I just wanted to say thank you for all the lessons you've taught me. From the rug glitch to how to rotate the pieces your trying place! Thank YOU SO much!
You bet Brian. Thanks for watching!
@@briandamrath4912 Thanks Brian. I don't have a FB page but I'm on Twitter and Instagram. =)
@29:00 just add 2 or 3 more scaffolding units instead of the conduit ( :
This is a great series. I put some in my playlist
Pardon if this has been mentioned before: the little icons in the top right corner (wrench, gear, etc) of your inventory selections indicate the DLC from which it was added. No icon indicates it's original (or "vanilla). Thanks for posting :D
You are right victor. That was actually tip #10 of this video :) th-cam.com/video/D76HR039mDI/w-d-xo.html
Awesome! And if you want to be able to open the door from either side, this video might be useful: th-cam.com/video/syC2ACXvwm0/w-d-xo.html
@@SkooledZone Thanks I'll be sure to check it out, I think from the description I already ended up using the xor gate setup
@@SkooledZone Pinned comment I mean, just about to start watching the video you recommended
so wholesome and learning at the same time
Rugs for horizontal placement and concrete pillars for vertical placement.
Actually, here's the true solution: th-cam.com/video/D76HR039mDI/w-d-xo.html
I just want to take a moment to express that your Jamaica Plains set looks awesome. I'm definitely digging the schoolhouse vibe going on there.
Thx! 👍
I've been trying to figure out turning off snapping since I made my first wall! Thank you!
Woah. The Castle looks so alien to me now that I've set up my main settlement there. It doesn't have patched walls or my giant apartment building or anything. It kinda looks sad, honestly :(
Thanks Skooled Zone, I've become a pro at building myself, but now i'm an expert with these exploits!! Great Videos!!
Right on 👍
Doing the walls at the castle us the stairwell with the small platform to add the the cement foundations.
Good job.
Sorry for the typos did proof read it :(
Hey cool, David. Welcome aboard!
2021 and I'm just finding this channel a maybe a month ago
Hopefully they still have some of these techniques and more with fallout 5 if and when it reveals
You did a great job explaining everything!
Why the quotes? That's the proper name/position for it
@@anthonylongoria2638 I was wondering the same thing.
Default build tendency is to select low for precise floor placement, but, for group select of tall submergible groups, it works *much* better to group select higher on the item, it won't jump out of sight, that way. The bottoms of items that submerge "jump", in group select, by roughly the height of one foundation block.
Actually here's the solution :) th-cam.com/video/D76HR039mDI/w-d-xo.html
14:39 my spouse and i like to say "feed two birds with one hand"
Love all your videos! So inspiring and really pumps me up to keep exploring and adventuring! I’ve learned so much from you, which has made my gameplay experience even better(:
Watching this video in Jamaica Plain!
Subscribed - need to go back and like all the videos I've watched. You're refreshing - I don't remember the last time I've heard someone ENJOYING making their videos as much as you clearly do. Great work!
Hey really appreciate it. And welcome aboard! =)
"Save two birds with one stone" might be my new favourite saying. .
For that group selection items flying high. Try grabbing them as high as you can, basically looking straight down when you select those poles.
Isn't that a contradiction? How can you grab something 'as high as you can' while looking 'straight down'?
How to save two birds.. XD you earned your thumbs up right there, goofball.
😁
Another great option if you want to have mods is USO, it has a special sections with items to help you with the glitches.
I got a nice settlement to share with the SkoolZone, No Mods of Course and this is going to blow minds as well. So if I could share I would be delighted to show my work. I call it the NoModTidings.
Regarding your floating thing with the spikes...plop a rug down, select the rug using group select and it shouldn't snap off.
Thanks Nathan. The solution turns out to be even easier than that. See Tip #8 in this video: th-cam.com/video/D76HR039mDI/w-d-xo.html
Thank you for the great content and not swearing like a trucker on crack like some of the TH-camr’s out there, cheers bud.
Cheers back! 😊
Group select Pop Up problem: When you select do it farther UP the item. This will give you more down ward controll. There is a limit to this affectivenes , and at opposite ends they do the same extreme lift as it does on the bottom grab.
I used this trick to build walls at the castle. It's not perfect, but it keeps the enemy out and there's only one way in.
to see it better to place it you could hit tilde type "fov 120" to widen your field of view to place it then reset it.
