- Paragliding delivers surprises.
I was expecting a short local flight in the Yorkshire Dales, but conditions and dumb luck took me on an unforgettable adventure. I'm glad I had a camera on my helmet to capture it. I'm from southern England and actually had little idea where I was on the trip. Finally the flight was 117km over 4 hours. There were no scary moments, I was smiling the whole way and I reckon there is no better way to get to know new places. I had no plan for getting back to where I started but an amazingly kind pilot drove my car 100 miles following me to collect me.

Hey now, little speedyhead
The read on the speedmeter says
You have to go to task in the city
Where people drown and people serve
Don't be shy, you're just dessert
Is only just light years to go.
Me, my thoughts are flower strewn
With ocean storm, bayberry moon
I have got to leave to find my way
Watch the road and memorize
This life that pass before my eyes
And nothing is going my way.
The ocean is the river's goal
A need to leave the water knows
We're closer now than light years to go
I have got to find the river
Bergamot and vetiver
Run through my head and fall away
Leave the road and memorize
This life that pass before my eyes
And nothing is going my way.
There's no one left to take the lead
But I tell you and you can see
We're closer now than light years to go
Pick up here and chase the ride
The river empties to the tide
Fall into the ocean.
The river to the ocean goes
A fortune for the undertow
None of this is going my way
There is nothing left to throw
Of ginger, lemon, indigo
Coriander stem and rose of hay
Strength and courage overrides
The privileged and weary eyes
Of river poet search naïveté.
Pick up here and chase the ride
The river empties to the tide
All of this is coming your way
Great flight and great video!
Thanks for the tracklist, I think The Lifting might be my new favourite paragliding song
Paragliding P.B. @ over 100km. Beer and pizza with friends Priceless. Well done 👍👍.
What a fun video to watch :) Congrats for your nice flight. And great selection of music!
Great video Pap! Great small dance at the end 😁😁
Great flight, are you sure you weren't just trying to fly away from Mr Ford, but despite your best efforts, he caught up with you anyway! A brilliant day out guys well done!
Fantastic, great flight, great video and great soundtrack!! Well done Robin.
Absolutely brilliant flight - and perfect little video! Love your attitude, narration and refreshing honesty.
What a fabulous tale. Thank you for sharing....
Same here, thx!
Fabulous flight and a personal best, on top of site record.🎉 That’s what it’s all about! Oh and a great enjoyable video as well.
A very enjoyable video, and wow what a flight. Well done!
Nice one Robin.
You made it happen...
Very watchable and listenable video too 👍
That's the flight of dreams. Awesome effort and great great video
What an awesome flight
Excellent! Just a note on feeling scared, do you need to fly a hot wing? This flight would have been just as easily doable, more comfortably, on a high B wing. Just a thought 🤔
What an adventure! Great video
Well done, what a flight. Great edit.
Whoa! What an epic flight!!!
Inspirational!
bravo!!!
As a reformed HG pilot I've also been a never-PG member. Watching this may have changed my mind.

Great video! What app do you use to track your flight path like that?
Beauty flight Wals. Love the scenery, commentary and of course the music! Congrats in the personal best. Question…for cross country do you need to file flight plans or communicate with local airspace along the way?
Hi Rich, thanks, also because it was certainly you who introduced me to REM, around 1984, so 40 years ago! Radio Free Europe and the Murmur album probably. It would have been on cassette as I didn’t get a CD player until 86. It was a good recommendation clearly. In answer to your question, no, we rarely communicate with local air traffic controllers. We can’t file plans as we often don’t have one! We fly mostly in uncontrolled airspace and avoid any real airspace with flight deck instruments on phones.
😁 nce one! 💯💫
Great flight under a heavily chemtrailed sky!
