Tuomas' has the ultimate flex: he gets to trot out top tier talent in his band, who bring to life the compositions which sprung from his mind. His lyrics can be esoteric, and he doesn't often offer in-depth explanations. He very much sees himself as a poet, and his lyrics are more about a flow of ideas as opposed to fully explained narratives.

Marko is singing in Everdream too. Anyone wanting to hear Marko showing his singing ability with NW, I would recommend, Markos own song, Islander, Tampere 2015 live, and Pink Floyd cover, High Hopes, 2005 live. Of course Marko has quite a lot of good material with other bands too, 'sideprojects' outside NW
Next stop "Song Of Myself" or maybe "Dark Chest Of Wonders" (the opener of the show) and you will be blown away. I would have another band you might want to look into (if you don't know them already) TOOL. In my opinion, the only act around these times that tops Nightwish, when it comes to live shows. TOOL is, in my opinion, the greatest Rock Band of our time. For Tool, start with "Schism" one of their most popular songs. The Poet And The Pendulum I'd schedule on a later date, after you become a little more familiar with the band, plus research needed before listening to it ;)

I would like to recommend you react to Ghost River from the same concert and also Sleeping Sun from the 2016 Masters Of Rock. Sleeping Sun is a little slower and more mellow but the feeling it gives is incredible. After 23 years of listening to Floor's amazing vocals, it is one of my top favorites. I would definitely read up on the story behind The Poet And The Pendulum and The Greatest Show On Earth before reacting to them. They are both really big songs and have very deep meaning and unfortunately a lot of reactors fail to do their research and miss a lot of important details. The details are what make these two songs. You were close to that, in most of the songs, Toumas talks about being the Dead boy, so, what do we have when we were kids? Innocence, imagination, all those movies of Disney, animation, had a different colour than what we see now, growing up means the loss of most of that. That magic, that innocence, those colours.

Tuomas is from land of story singers and tellers, Eastern Finland have always been source of good stuff. he just have ability to compose it all in music... empty crib of Peter pan and later that rabbit hole where Alice went... he talks lot of poetic way and like to reverse all he has heard. that ability to tell stories is in his blood and i think he never can get rid of it.
Tuomas is the founder and main composer. He is also very humble and rarely plays keyboard solos. Tuomas uses metaphors and imagery in all of his lyrics. The empty crib of Peter Pan is maybe because he grew up and he is also on the loose. His imagination has been set free to fly. This is one of Tuomas' songs about trying to recapture or hold onto your innocence of youth. If you like deep and poetic lyrics, Nightwish is one of a kind. Don't do Poet and the Pendulum yet. You need to understand the full story behind this song for maximum impact. It is one of Tuomas' masterpieces. Keep doing the Wacken show for a few more reactions. Romanticide is a heavier one. I think doing Romanticide, ever dream, Poet and the Pendulum, Song of Myself then I hope you do the Greatest show on Earth last because when I saw it I had listened to all of the other songs and it, well for me it kind of brought it all together in a way, it just simply blew my mind. The long epic multipart songs like "The Poet and the Pendulum" and "The Greatest Show on Earth" have a background in the story that they tell.. Knowing that background helps you appreciate the songs and what happening.. Like you were saying, Tuomas "the keyboard player writes 90% of all Nightwish songs. He composes the orchestral parts and works with the London Philharmonic to produce the backing sound tracks. Some of the songs are closely mirrored by what he is inspired by at the time.

I would recommend against doing a reaction to Poet and the pendulum before your heard quite a few songs. And also have a grasp on how bad it got for the members of Nightwish after they split with Tarja. For me personally it does not matter to much, but I've seen angry commenters on other reaction channels where they did this song early. My own recommendation would be to checkout Versailles - Faith and decision ( m.th-cam.com/video/AdhfE6ITfoQ/w-d-xo.html ) it was a band I discovered way to late.
Yeah Poet is one of the songs that are not only beautifull, but it has deep deep meaning, and (part thanks to Floor also) such powerfull emotions in it... it is in my opinion bit more important/usefull to know something of what its about... If you do few other songs before it, you get most of the info anyway from comments, about the history of band, whos who, how they parted with Tarja (their first singer), so there you get it the easy way. Ofcourse you could do a 10 min google instead, or you could even listen to it unprepared, but us watching you listen to it will certainly enjoy those "ah, this is why" moments better if you go into it prepared... Poet and Pendullum is not just a song, its whole experience, true piece of Art... there scores of grown men who tear up just listening to it the 100th time, again...

If you watch reactors like “Vin and Sori” they watch and react to the songs and then pull up the lyrics and dig in to the meaning. Yes Tuomas is a big fan of Disney stories and this is reflected in some of his songs.
The empty crib of Peter Pan, the place were a legendary story was born. I think this entire song is about inspiration. The innocence, the dreams of every man. That inner child that everyone has where your hopes and dreams live. A soaring kite against the blue, blue sky. Obviously representing freedom and carefree times, daydreaming maybe? Every chimney, every moonlit sight. The classic scenes set in childhood stories. There is also a line in there about a Poet imagining the entire world on a snowflake in his hand and the world falling back into the stars. Quite alot of serendipitous poetry in there.

Tuomas the keyboardist is the founding member of Nightwish, he's also band leader and the genius behind 95% of the songs and lyrics. He's a real creative intellectual and doesn't have an ego or want to chase fame, none of the band have egos within the band, they are more like brother's and a sister than a band. Tuomas is also known by fans as 'The Metal Mozart. He doesn't do that many interviews, nor does Empuu the guitarist that's generally Floor, Troy and Marko's job. Tuomas comes across in interviews as fiercely intelligent and has a measured way of talking like he thinks carefully before he says anything. He's also told fans to worship the music and not the band members like a cult, he comes across as being quite uncomfortable with fame and seems quite shy. There's also the fact that he has been badly mauled by media and fans when previous singers have left/been fired, so he comes across as quite guarded. Most of that is IMHO but that's what his body language in interviews says to me and would also explain why he doesn't want to be front and centre on stage but would prefer to be off to the side to leave the stage charisma and fan focus to Floor, Marko and Empuu.

great reaction Ideally, you have a longer journey to do before you hit TPATP or GSOE (and actually, those 2 are much better with the lyrics beside you and a little background knowledge on the songs). You have many other live tracks to discover the band and Floors versatility. What you can do at the end before reacting to the Poet and the Pendulum is react to either Phantom of the opera or slaying the dreamer from the show End of an Era which happens to be the first singers last concert. That will give you some Idea of the bands pulse at the time. Looking forward to more reactions.
Never Never Land - as in the story of Peter Pan. Imaginarium Tour often mentions Alice in Wonderland and Peter Pan references. The author of Peter Pan mentioned that Never Land was an island in a child's mind, but each child imagined a different island. See some references in "I want my tears back" further mentioning Alice in Wonderland. Tuomas (on keyboards) is one of the founding members (pretty much writes it all). Emppu is on guitar and is the only other remaining founding member.

Ok. So after 3 songs, you are definitely becoming a NW fan. You`ll never hear a band like this before. You got yourself a news subscriber here! I can`t wait for more reactions to them. Every song that has been recommended is amazing. Tuomas is a genius composer and all the band has amazing skills and they work perfectly together. Despite me being anxious to watch you reaction to their masterpieces, it`s still too early. The Poet and the Pendulum is very, very emotional and personal song. They don`t play it often due to what it means to Tuomas. Read about it before and you`ll experience it to another different level and also, pay attention to the live performance. It`s full of meaningfull moments. In my opinion, their greatest masterpiece is The Greatest Show on Earth, a 21 minute song that you must listen to the very end of the video. Read about it beforehand as well. Go for the live at Tampere 2015. Curious fact, many reactors go like "why is the show during the day?". It is not, but in Finland you have sunlight for pretty much 24h per day once a year and it gives a special magic to the show. Anyway, you are in a an amazing ride with NW and you`ll never be disappointed! Apart from NW, if you wish to see more of Floor versatile voice, check out her appearance on the dutch show Beste Zangers where she did many different styles and languages. Although she`s dutch, NW and Floor weren`t well known there. Now the whole country knows how she sounds and she is been called one of the greatest singers EVER. Definitely worth watching! Oh, I almost forgot. Between these older songs, you can also include some of the songs in their new human recently released. It is for me their best work so far. Every member of the band shines in those songs and the second part, dedicated exclusively to Nature is something absolutely AMAZING! I listen to that full album at least once per day.
Tuomas founded NW almost 25 years ago. It is his lifes work. Without him there is no NW. He composes, writes lyrics to and arranges vast majority of NW songs, Marko the bass player most of the rest, some of the songs have been written by Tuomas and Marko together. I believe Tuomas has a lot to do with the back ground video, and pyros too? And certainly with the prerecorded back ground stuff, with a philharmonic orchestra and a couple of choirs, the other one being a child choir. Tuomas is the mastermind behind NW, indeed, no doubt about that. I've noticed the thing you mentioned. They don't show much of him in these live concert videos. It's possible that's the way he wants it. He doesn't want to be worshipped by the fans. He doesn't think he's that special, just a human being. It's enough for him that people love his music, and enjoy it. He said something like that to the fans he met at Wembley Arena 2015, a group of fans from allover the world the band had invited there to meet them before the gig. I've seen material from the early days of NW on YT, Tuomas was and looked so young, propably even younger than his age. Just a boy way back then. NW experts can correct me if I got something wrong.
Poet And The Pendulum ❤️ and yes from Wacken. And Ever Dream. Love those songs so much. They are both really meaningful songs for Tuomas. Ever Dream is an older song from the time of the original singer Tarja. Poet and the pendulum is about the time that Tarja was kicked from the band and Tuomas went to a really dark place. You should definitely read about their history. And definitely have the song lyrics on display when listening. That way you never miss the lyrics 😂 learned that from the beginning of my Nightwish listening 😂😂
IMO go for heavier side of NW and watch Romanticide Wacken 2013 and Storytime from the same show Next My Walden Wembley 2015 and I want my tears back Buenos Aires 2018 for folk vibes And finally The poet and the pendulum Wembley 2015 and The Greatest Show on Earth Wembley 2015 - you may prefer Tampere 2015 version as it has the best effects - pyro and fireworks, but trust me on this one :) On that day there was somebody special who joined the band that ONE TIME, and one time only
If you like Peter Pan/lost childhood imagery then I think you’re going to really like several NW songs. It’s ALWAYS a good idea to dive into the lyrics, Tuomas doesn’t write songs with generic words or no meaning. I’d suggest Dark Chest of Wonders next, it was the opener.
Hello from the Netherlands. Big fan of Floor and Nightwish. Both Floor and Marko are also wonderful people with a great sense of humor when you meet them in person. React to Romanticide if you want to hear some straight up power. Song of Myself and Everdream are also amazing ofc. I would save The Greatest Show on Earth and Poet and the Pendulum for a bit later, they are very long and quite deep in terms of meaning.

If you want a small taste of the versatility of Floor's voice, I would recommend the songs "Wild Card" and "Disdain" from her former band Revamp and also the song "While Love Died" from her side project Northward. You mentioned "Poet and the Pendulum". That song is almost sacred to old Nightwish fans, as it has some super deep emotional expression in response to the rocky departure of their original Finnish vocalist Tarja (pronounced TAR-ya who also has a voice to die for) and Tuomas's feelings surrounding that, especially since they were such close childhood friends. If you decide to react to "Poet and the Pendulum", PLEASE do yourself a favor and HAVE THE LYRICS HANDY when reacting, as it is quite complex, being longer than Ghost Love Score and having 5 different "Acts" to it. ...also on a side note, if you actually see this comment and react to "Poet and the Pendulum", it is worth noting that the vocals at the very beginning of the song is a choir boy.

If you ever get to 'The Greatest Show on Earth', live in Tampere, watch until the end, and check out the lyrics before, because that's what the song in mostly about. Either google the lyrics, or check out the version that has English lyrics as subtitles.

It's not just that Tuomas is the mastermind or one of the founding members of the band, it's the straight fact that he is a pure musical genius. Other than the odd collaboration with other band members on lyrics, he writes not only ALL the Nightwish lyrics, but ALL the instrument music, as well as ALL the orchestral music you'll hear playing in the background of their songs. He will go down as one of this generations greatest composers. To me, the Nightwish lyrics in most of the songs don't have to and often can't be interpreted when you take them one line at the time, it's more a feeling and spirit you get from a chorus or even the whole song. In Storytime for instance, I think Tuomas managed to fully capture the essence of the traditional bedtime stories you read to children. From the feeling of the first story being captured and told in the beginning of the song to the mention of traditional characters (Alice and Peter Pan) and places (chimneys and Neverland), the whole song is an hymn to the stories we know and love and who keep haunting our memories.

Tuomas' has the ultimate flex: he gets to trot out top tier talent in his band, who bring to life the compositions which sprung from his mind. His lyrics can be esoteric, and he doesn't often offer in-depth explanations. He very much sees himself as a poet, and his lyrics are more about a flow of ideas as opposed to fully explained narratives.

Her voice live is off the hook. Best live vocals I have ever heard.I knew going into the concert a few years ago she was good but what I heard was something else.

Next stop "Song Of Myself" or maybe "Dark Chest Of Wonders" (the opener of the show) and you will be blown away. I would have another band you might want to look into (if you don't know them already) TOOL. In my opinion, the only act around these times that tops Nightwish, when it comes to live shows. TOOL is, in my opinion, the greatest Rock Band of our time. For Tool, start with "Schism" one of their most popular songs. Great reaction! I glad you started your journey with Ghost Love Score as many new soon to be fans do. I would like to recommend you react to Ghost River from the same concert and also Sleeping Sun from the 2016 Masters Of Rock. Sleeping Sun is a little slower and more mellow but the feeling it gives is incredible. After 23 years of listening to Floor's amazing vocals, it is one of my top favorites. I would definitely read up on the story behind The Poet And The Pendulum and The Greatest Show On Earth before reacting to them. They are both really big songs and have very deep meaning and unfortunately a lot of reactors fail to do their research and miss a lot of important details. The details are what make these two songs. You were close to that, in most of the songs, Toumas talks about being the Dead boy, so, what do we have when we were kids? Innocence, imagination, all those movies of Disney, animation, had a different colour than what we see now, growing up means the loss of most of that. That magic, that innocence, those colours.

Tuomas is from land of story singers and tellers, Eastern Finland have always been source of good stuff. he just have ability to compose it all in music... empty crib of Peter pan and later that rabbit hole where Alice went... he talks lot of poetic way and like to reverse all he has heard. that ability to tell stories is in his blood and i think he never can get rid of it.
I fell in love with the mind of Tuomas on their first album... Even though Tuomas hates the line "the scent of a woman is not mine" lol.
Tuomas is the founder and main composer. He is also very humble and rarely plays keyboard solos. Tuomas uses metaphors and imagery in all of his lyrics. The empty crib of Peter Pan is maybe because he grew up and he is also on the loose. His imagination has been set free to fly. This is one of Tuomas' songs about trying to recapture or hold onto your innocence of youth. If you like deep and poetic lyrics, Nightwish is one of a kind. Don't do Poet and the Pendulum yet. You need to understand the full story behind this song for maximum impact. It is one of Tuomas' masterpieces. Keep doing the Wacken show for a few more reactions. Romanticide is a heavier one. The long epic multipart songs like "The Poet and the Pendulum" and "The Greatest Show on Earth" have a background in the story that they tell.. Knowing that background helps you appreciate the songs and what happening.. Like you were saying, Tuomas "the keyboard player writes 90% of all Nightwish songs. He composes the orchestral parts and works with the London Philharmonic to produce the backing sound tracks. Some of the songs are closely mirrored by what he is inspired by at the time.

I would recommend against doing a reaction to Poet and the pendulum before your heard quite a few songs.
And also have a grasp on how bad it got for the members of Nightwish after they split with Tarja.
For me personally it does not matter to much, but I've seen angry commenters on other reaction channels where they did this song early.
My own recommendation would be to checkout Versailles - Faith and decision ( m.th-cam.com/video/AdhfE6ITfoQ/w-d-xo.html ) it was a band I discovered way to late.
Yeah Poet is one of the songs that are not only beautifull, but it has deep deep meaning, and (part thanks to Floor also) such powerfull emotions in it... it is in my opinion bit more important/usefull to know something of what its about...
If you do few other songs before it, you get most of the info anyway from comments, about the history of band, whos who, how they parted with Tarja (their first singer), so there you get it the easy way. Ofcourse you could do a 10 min google instead, or you could even listen to it unprepared, but us watching you listen to it will certainly enjoy those "ah, this is why" moments better if you go into it prepared...
Poet and Pendullum is not just a song, its whole experience, true piece of Art... there scores of grown men who tear up just listening to it the 100th time, again...

Tuomas the keyboardist is the founding member of Nightwish, he's also band leader and the genius behind 95% of the songs and lyrics.
He's a real creative intellectual and doesn't have an ego or want to chase fame, none of the band have egos within the band, they are more like brother's and a sister than a band.
Tuomas is also known by fans as 'The Metal Mozart.
He doesn't do that many interviews, nor does Empuu the guitarist that's generally Floor, Troy and Marko's job.
Tuomas comes across in interviews as fiercely intelligent and has a measured way of talking like he thinks carefully before he says anything.
He's also told fans to worship the music and not the band members like a cult, he comes across as being quite uncomfortable with fame and seems quite shy.
There's also the fact that he has been badly mauled by media and fans when previous singers have left/been fired, so he comes across as quite guarded.
Most of that is IMHO but that's what his body language in interviews says to me and would also explain why he doesn't want to be front and centre on stage but would prefer to be off to the side to leave the stage charisma and fan focus to Floor, Marko and Empuu.

You have many other live tracks to discover the band and Floors versatility. What you can do at the end before reacting to the Poet and the Pendulum is react to either Phantom of the opera or slaying the dreamer from the show End of an Era which happens to be the first singers last concert. Never Never Land - as in the story of Peter Pan. Imaginarium Tour often mentions Alice in Wonderland and Peter Pan references. The author of Peter Pan mentioned that Never Land was an island in a child's mind, but each child imagined a different island. See some references in "I want my tears back" further mentioning Alice in Wonderland. Tuomas (on keyboards) is one of the founding members (pretty much writes it all). Emppu is on guitar and is the only other remaining founding member.

Ok. So after 3 songs, you are definitely becoming a NW fan. You`ll never hear a band like this before. You got yourself a news subscriber here! I can`t wait for more reactions to them. Every song that has been recommended is amazing. Tuomas is a genius composer and all the band has amazing skills and they work perfectly together. Despite me being anxious to watch you reaction to their masterpieces, it`s still too early. The Poet and the Pendulum is very, very emotional and personal song. They don`t play it often due to what it means to Tuomas. Read about it before and you`ll experience it to another different level and also, pay attention to the live performance. It`s full of meaningfull moments. In my opinion, their greatest masterpiece is The Greatest Show on Earth, a 21 minute song that you must listen to the very end of the video. Read about it beforehand as well. Go for the live at Tampere 2015. Curious fact, many reactors go like "why is the show during the day?". It is not, but in Finland you have sunlight for pretty much 24h per day once a year and it gives a special magic to the show.
Anyway, you are in a an amazing ride with NW and you`ll never be disappointed!
Apart from NW, if you wish to see more of Floor versatile voice, check out her appearance on the dutch show Beste Zangers where she did many different styles and languages. Although she`s dutch, NW and Floor weren`t well known there. Now the whole country knows how she sounds and she is been called one of the greatest singers EVER. Definitely worth watching!
Oh, I almost forgot. Between these older songs, you can also include some of the songs in their new human recently released. It is for me their best work so far. Every member of the band shines in those songs and the second part, dedicated exclusively to Nature is something absolutely AMAZING! I listen to that full album at least once per day.
Tuomas founded NW almost 25 years ago. It is his lifes work. Without him there is no NW. He composes, writes lyrics to and arranges vast majority of NW songs, Marko the bass player most of the rest, some of the songs have been written by Tuomas and Marko together.
I believe Tuomas has a lot to do with the back ground video, and pyros too? And certainly with the prerecorded back ground stuff, with a philharmonic orchestra and a couple of choirs, the other one being a child choir. Tuomas is the mastermind behind NW, indeed, no doubt about that.
I've noticed the thing you mentioned. They don't show much of him in these live concert videos. It's possible that's the way he wants it. He doesn't want to be worshipped by the fans. He doesn't think he's that special, just a human being.
It's enough for him that people love his music, and enjoy it. He said something like that to the fans he met at Wembley Arena 2015, a group of fans from allover the world the band had invited there to meet them before the gig.
I've seen material from the early days of NW on YT, Tuomas was and looked so young, propably even younger than his age. Just a boy way back then.

Poet And The Pendulum ❤️ and yes from Wacken. And Ever Dream. Love those songs so much. They are both really meaningful songs for Tuomas. Ever Dream is an older song from the time of the original singer Tarja. Poet and the pendulum is about the time that Tarja was kicked from the band and Tuomas went to a really dark place. You should definitely read about their history. And definitely have the song lyrics on display when listening. That way you never miss the lyrics 😂 learned that from the beginning of my Nightwish listening 😂😂
Dark Chest Of Wonders is really a must-see song to react. Floor looks like powered by a nuke power cell

IMO go for heavier side of NW and watch Romanticide Wacken 2013 and Storytime from the same show

And finally The poet and the pendulum Wembley 2015 and The Greatest Show on Earth Wembley 2015 - you may prefer Tampere 2015 version as it has the best effects - pyro and fireworks, but trust me on this one :) On that day there was somebody special who joined the band that ONE TIME, and one time only

If you like Peter Pan/lost childhood imagery then I think you’re going to really like several NW songs. It’s ALWAYS a good idea to dive into the lyrics, Tuomas doesn’t write songs with generic words or no meaning.
I’d suggest Dark Chest of Wonders next, it was the opener.

I would save The Greatest Show on Earth and Poet and the Pendulum for a bit later, they are very long and quite deep in terms of meaning.

If you want a small taste of the versatility of Floor's voice, I would recommend the songs "Wild Card" and "Disdain" from her former band Revamp and also the song "While Love Died" from her side project Northward.
You mentioned "Poet and the Pendulum". That song is almost sacred to old Nightwish fans, as it has some super deep emotional expression in response to the rocky departure of their original Finnish vocalist Tarja (pronounced TAR-ya who also has a voice to die for) and Tuomas's feelings surrounding that, especially since they were such close childhood friends. If you decide to react to "Poet and the Pendulum", PLEASE do yourself a favor and HAVE THE LYRICS HANDY when reacting, as it is quite complex, being longer than Ghost Love Score and having 5 different "Acts" to it.
...also on a side note, if you actually see this comment and react to "Poet and the Pendulum", it is worth noting that the vocals at the very beginning of the song is a choir boy.

If you ever get to 'The Greatest Show on Earth', live in Tampere, watch until the end, and check out the lyrics before, because that's what the song in mostly about. Either google the lyrics, or check out the version that has English lyrics as subtitles.
My personal suggestion for the next songs in order to give you a nice overview of some "styles" covered by Nightwish:
-> "Devil and the Deep Dark Ocean" (Buenos Aires) will give you a metal and power blast
-> There are a couple of great songs from Wacken: Storytime, Song of Myself, Romanticide, Last Ride of the Day, Ghostriver
-> "Yours an Empty Hope" from Wembley (have a good look at the growls)
-> "The greatest Show on Earth" (Tampere) and "The Poet and the Pendulum (Wembley - get to know the background of this song ahead)
-> Then the new stuff with "Noise" (Video), „Shoemaker“, "Harvest (Lyric Video) ...

It's not just that Tuomas is the mastermind or one of the founding members of the band, it's the straight fact that he is a pure musical genius. Other than the odd collaboration with other band members on lyrics, he writes not only ALL the Nightwish lyrics, but ALL the instrument music, as well as ALL the orchestral music you'll hear playing in the background of their songs. He will go down as one of this generations greatest composers.

Their both really really good songs... but then again there really is no bad Nightwish song, and this is coming from a huge fan that's been part of the Nightwish Army from the very beginning, all the way back to when the band first formed in 1996, when you could only buy their music in the International music section at your local FYE or Borders!!!

"I'm the crib of Peter Pan" I take as being the innocence he left behind as he went off to his adventures in the fantasy world of Never Never Land.
"I am the empty crib of Peter Pan" this line to me says "The beginning of the story/adventure".
To me, the Nightwish lyrics in most of the songs don't have to and often can't be interpreted when you take them one line at the time, it's more a feeling and spirit you get from a chorus or even the whole song. In Storytime for instance, I think Tuomas managed to fully capture the essence of the traditional bedtime stories you read to children. From the feeling of the first story being captured and told in the beginning of the song to the mention of traditional characters (Alice and Peter Pan) and places (chimneys and Neverland), the whole song is an hymn to the stories we know and love and who keep haunting our memories.
