Hi Whitney! Thank God I stumbled inyo your you tube tutorial👍Got your basic straw and just ordered the rose gold though I really dont sing well but love to for the Lird🙏❤️🙏I noticed your microphone, is it on top of your keyboard? Looking for one that is light and easy with any stand just like yours. Thanks!
I loved this one! 😍🙌 It was extremely helpful - I've been having some difficulty on runs lately. That 3rd add-on on the riff was a bit of a mess for a while but I got it 😂👌 Definitely will try breaking down runs on the straw more often
Very good practice, I think I'll come back to this video regularly. I like how you divide the video into chapters, very useful. And I did slow it down for the downward pentatonic 😅 and it paid off!!
Wow, these were super cool and helpful, and I've been scrounging for good vocal run exercises everywhere. It would be awesome if you could do a couple more!
nobody ever mentions or gets into details about how to riff from top to the bottom notes. IMO it's the hardest. It's like falling down very fast. Going up and down is easy. If you can go into details on how to do that, please share with us. Thanks.
I struggle with jaw and tongue tension and have 45 years of muscle memory of notes being formed with the use of these. Will using the straw allow me to change my muscle memory so that the tongue and jaw are not involved? Can we do ONLY straw exercises? Or is it best to mix in exercises without the straw?
Hey Lea - good question. The straw will help your vocal folds move more efficiently and promote a more open relaxed through, which will help with some extrinsic tension - but I would tweak a few things to target tongue relaxation (like a tongue out straw combo) and puff your cheeks so you're not clenching your jaw. And with everything, I think balance is good - so using straw as a compliment to your other singing work. Good luck!
My humming becomes a total vocal fry when I blow into the straw in my local register. Is this normal? I can sing comfortably in this low range but I can’t seem to make a hum sound with a straw in this range . Help
💖🤩Oh my what the wonderful name 'Whitney' like Whitney Houston my idol😍😍😍💜

How is spit not coming from your straw?? Am I doing it wrong if a lot of spit is coming from mine?
I get spit in my straw too!! That is totally normal. I just wipe it away and keep going :)

Hi! Could you please share the harmony you use at the piano when you are singing the downward pentatonic scale...
Stay tuned! That is something I'm working on for the future!
Lol from Jerusalem
Thank you very much
You're so welcome!
