"Nothing is the same after ME" that's what I heard and I wholeheartedly agree!!! That was a bop too I was singing along :D I have never received vocal training, just been singing to myself my whole life. Singing along with vocalists like Ella Fitzgerald, Billie Holiday, and actually Regina Spektor has been a HUGE aid - listening to their articulation, tone, incredible control and creativity, and at first honestly just trying to imitate it. But by imitating, I began to 'feel' the difference in my body compared to my 'normal' singing, and gradually pieced together the comprehension of using different muscles to achieve a specific result. I believe anyone can sing, or play music, create art, dance, any of these things so long as they have a desire to do it. Self expression is a skill, one that every human being deserves to learn to cultivate in every form that pleases them. THANK YOU for spreading this message and it's power!! One Voice & One LOVE ♥🕯

I’m not an expert but have been singing nearly 70 years. A lot of people sing in their throat. You have to think of voice placement, where you want the sound to come from. One form is to think of placing the sound in your sinus cavity. It takes practice like everything else. Listen for the difference in sound from the throat to the sinuses. Also, try to open your throat more. Simple vocalizing with an Ahh sound helps a lot. Also, sing relaxed. Let the throat relax. Support the air coming from your mouth with your diaphragm. Again, it takes practice. This is a place to start. Maybe there are more helpful hints on line. Try to sing in a choir (church or local choral group). The more you sing the easier it becomes. Start simple and practice daily. Just simple vocal exercises with vowel sounds really helps to strengthen your vocal chords and the muscles in your neck. Good luck.
Thank you so much for this! I've had a few voice teachers try to break down riffs for me. I've developed decent agility and range, but my transitions always got muddy as I got faster. I always felt like these teachers were doing something extra to keep note definition at high speeds (it sounded to me kinda like a forced vibrato), but none of them could explain it. It just blew my mind to have someone finally explain note separation techniques and illustrate them at a lower speed. I'll definitely be watching your other videos on the subject!
Thank you SO much for this great information. Having trained classically, I am so glad I am FINALLY getting the concrete info I need to transition into pop and R & B better. Wish I could have found you five years ago!

This was a great lesson. Most vocal coaches teach in a way that doesn’t really feel like singing, but you kept it very musical and fun. Thanks for taking the time to make this video!
One of the advantages of being almost fluent in english is that you can learn a lot of new things from native speakers. The thing is, every teacher have a different way of teaching about certain topics. So if you can't understand what one person is trying to teach you, you can just search for a video on the internet and look for a someone who can explain it better, and the subject may start making sense to you because of different words they used to explain it and different activities they gave you as homework.. In conclusion, all I want to say is THANK YOU! I love the way you make music and singing look less stressful to learn lol Lots of love from Brazil ❤
Thank you so much for sharing! I am a classical based voice teacher trying to meet my new students needs for another genres, and your video is such a great help! You're a real teacher, explaining how those things work step by step, from scratch. Regards from Indonesia. God bless you! =)

I love it when vocal coaches can actually sing. Brilliant!!!
I love the way you make music and singing look less stressful to learn lol
Lots of love from Brazil ❤
Thank you so much for sharing! I am a classical based voice teacher trying to meet my new students needs for another genres, and your video is such a great help! You're a real teacher, explaining how those things work step by step, from scratch. Regards from Indonesia. God bless you! =)

Paul, you are a great vocalist and a great teacher. Using the pentatonic along with "back phrasing" works wonders.
Rarely am I this impressed and excited by a TH-cam video. I'll start practicing tomorrow! Thanks Paul! 😊
You’re just so kind. It’s comes through so clearly. Thanks for the first ever TH-cam lesson that I did through to the end!!

Wonderful! Not a singer, but this applies to my practice on sax. Loved playing along and playing the tones on my instrument. Just wonderful. I appreciate you.
Fantastic. It’s about time that I run across a creative and immersive way to have fun with a pentatonic scale with soul riffs. Thank you.
This is by far the best advanced voice lessons ive seen on YT. Thank you 💙💙💙 may the Lord bless you more.
I understand this video is 2 years old but I’ve been listening to you for years and all of what you’ve put out is so helpful… I feel comfortable as a singer with a lot of family members who in my former opinion were better than me. But I can do it too!!! ♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️ thanks!!! Blessings on you and your family!!! Sorry for just writing something.
My jaw droppedddd. I just hit a run, how did you dooo thissss. I’ve been trying to sing my whole life. I love you, thank you.

Wow! Didn't expect that Soul scale song to be so good! "E-VER-Y-WHERE" Favorite part, lol. Keep up the good work!
Thanks! Will do!
I like the approach of teaching the pentatonic scale without diving into what consonant and dissonant means from the jump
Ok you have leveled up my friend. Notification bell is on 🔥
😎🔥🙌🏾 More like this on the way!
@@PaulMcKayONEvoice I like this, can we contact via email or what's app, I need to get you closer 🙏
Wonderful! I can do jazz riffs and runs easily but pop songs ones are so hard for me. Learning these techniques with the different scales is so helpful.
your jingle is waay underrated. The genius behind it - the facts that the words do re mi ... are sung in their correct tone and the pun on some of the words "after me things will never be the same" - LISTEN ! Give this man his dues .
This is THE BEST EVER RIFF AND RUN VIDEO ever. I just loved this one. And really thanks to Paul because you just changed my singing type. God bless you man😇😇
👊🏽💥 glad I could help man!
You’re an awesome teacher, and you have a beautiful voice.
❤God bless you for this, after a major stroke messed my vocal chords,my voice had been breaking but with these exercises I'm happy to join the church choir again after 6years 😊
❤️❤️❤️🔥🔥🔥🙏🏽 so happy to hear this!
😂😂😂Why you take us to church like that ?😂
Fabulous! Really enjoyed the song, and the wonderfully clear way of explaining the pentatonic. And hearing your Do Do Do, I suddenly recognised it as the same notes sung in old Latin church sung masses (Gregorian-ish). And in the minor pentatonic sounding like Chinese or Japanese folk music :)
Nah it sounds more like sub Saharan African traditional folk music. African root from slavery. Call and response notes.
I studied music all my life including a masters and I WISH I had a theory lesson like THIS😮❤
Absolutely wonderful!!!! I will be able to do riffs and runs for the first time ever in my life! 45 now but so grateful to come across this youtube channel. Thank you for making it seem so easy and easy to understand! God bless you!
I'm glad the video helped you!

I come from a rock background but I really want to get more of an R&B vibe to my singing so I can use it in my band. Subscribed, thanks so much for the great content dude!
I'm just discovering your video, and you are an excellent teacher of riffs and runs. I used to think I could never learn to do them but now I have hope.
