YOOOO you are a freaking genius!!! I bought a 2010 Dodge Ram with an android headunit installed. The lights would not turn on for the buttons on the radio and i looked up how to turn them on and it worked but then they would not turn off when i turned off the car. This step by step video solved all my problems. Thank you brother!
@@nopenottoday4105 I also have an amp and it doesn't cause any issues. When I turn the engine off the amp is not working. The amp only turns on when they key ignition switch is on Accessory and forward of course. I wonder what could be keeping your Unit powered on all the time. My only advice would be to look into the canbus installation see how those wires are connected. I recently sent a photo link to someone looking for the correct installation of these units. I will write back with the link and make give it a look. Or ask the people who wired your amp to see if they can make sense of it.
You saved me a lot of nerves my friend Had this problem for about a year now with my android Radio Norhing helped, then I randomly found your Video and my problem is solved now! Thank you very much my brother you cant imagine how much you helped me with this Video !!
Hi there. I found your video today because a few months ago I bought a Chinese Head Unit, and since I fitted it, if I didn't drive the car for a week my car battery would go flat. Only today I learned that these units draw more electricity than older radios, when left in stand by. Tomorrow, I'll be fitting a new alternator, which I think I damaged by using jump leads so many times, because of the battery being flat. Once I've done that, I'll follow your instructions here and let you know how I got on. Thanks for the vid!
Thank you for this! My Toyota Sienna died today and looking online I came across your video. My Android 12 head unit's interface is different than yours, but I was able to turn Sleep Mode OFF from "Settings" -> "Factory" -> "Sleep Mode when ACC is Off". The default setting was ON, meaning the radio was sleeping and drawing power. I turned it to OFF and that ensured a cold boot each time. The boot process is longer now, but not that bad... Maybe 20-30 seconds or so. The head unit has an 8-core CPU, perhaps that helps with the boot speed...
Thanks a ton mate..worked!! I was really worried about battery drainage issue..I got my self a Chinese android display(that's what we get easily here in South aisa) Hope now my car battery remains intact👍
To really stop the battery draining change the power circuit to the cigarette lighter circuit that’s completely off with the car key when you stop the car.
This seems like a neat idea but many cannot handle electronics of the car. Mine was wired by a professional 😅, they should have known this thing probably, but yet again a professional doesn't always mean good at their job🤷🏻♂️
@@albinskenderovski It's really easy, I did it myself and I'm 81. In your fuse box detect witch is the one that protects the cigarette lighter and take it out, with a piggy back fuse holder take that place and connect a wire under the car dash, cut the original PWR cable from the harness and connect the new PWR cable that comes from the fuse box. Done, when you switch of the key there is NO PWR to the unit. Good Luck
we'll see if it fixes it. i only started looking for a video like this after my battery was dead have to find a jump and wait a month or so. i bought a volt meter to test it out. what's a normal curent value for parasitic draw?
I have absolutely no idea, for some batteries even leaving it like this it doesn't drain it completely. This might be the case for 100% healthy batteries. I stood no chance lol, it would drain it in about 3 4 hours.
My hu is very similar and I was able to find and adjust this setting. When clicking back to the first settings screen, I was prompted for the 8888 code again (wouldnt let me "back" to the home screen). I tried clicking "Reboot" this let me restart it. Also the App button took me home. But it is still not shutting down completely. I plugged everything in as instructed on the back of the hu. No idea why it wont shut off completely but I'll go back in a couple of hours and check if it turned off completely. If you have any ideas why I'd be interested. Is it a wiring issue? Will ask Podofo support too.
@@albinskenderovski I have since located the solution - there is a tiny red wire (paired wire i believe) with a tiny plug-in on the harness that, if this tiny plastic connection is disconnected, makes the unit shut off when they key is removed from the ignition. Thank you.
Thank you for your help! I just put an android head unit to my Seat Leon MK2, and this resolved the problem with the battery drain. But, do you know, how to setup to shut down after 30min? In another version there is possibility to 30min, 1hour, 1day, 3day etc etc. Example, if you go to the shop, and next ignition you dont have to wait to boot up because the radio is in sleep mode. I think with 30min standby mode didnt drain too much the battery. Thank youuuu
Yes, if the unit is turning off and on by itself, like a bootloop, it's probably because it is getting too hot, mine does the same thing but only during very hot days. My solution is a blast the air conditioning on the coolest temperature and direct the vents inside, in about three minutes it stops the bootloop but again, this is for units like mine xyauto.
HELP please. I have the same radio, I did the same steps, I have the same passwords, but the radio does not turn off after removing the key from the ignition switch. What additional steps could I do?
You have to wait about a minute before it turns off, if that is still not happening even after two minutes then maybe your issue is with the wiring. Just wait two minutes before testing if it works and make sure the settings have been saved.
@@albinskenderovski I found a solution to the problem!!! The connector must be disconnected of the two orange and red cables from the main bone. Thanks to this, after removing the key from the ignition, the radio will turn off.

Sadly that doesn't go away I think, you must tinker into the special factory settings and see if you can find it, some are in chinese that's why it's difficult.
Oh yes, you just long press and delete, but you wont be able to put different widgets, only icons can go there. The launcher is locked for some reasons and you cannot put anything you would like. You have to use a different launcher in order to use widgets but they make the unit much slower.
I don't know if that's possible, depending on how your subwoofer is wired. Mine has the options for subwoofer volume but it doesn't do anything when I change it. It is found in factory settings then you go into usb settings and inside there it has Sound settings, the subwoofer is there, also some have it sound settings in main menu but it was not present in mine.

Hai. i already follow your step. But it still same never shutdown after ignition off. I already check and the setting already saved same like your shared in this video. Any others idea to solve my problem?
Wiring issue, there might be a wire that is not allowing it to sleep and read the settings from the unit., someone has already explained in these comments, I believe the people that wired it for you can rewire it properly for it to shutdown with these settings
I followed all the steps and changed the setting however when I remove the ignition the screen still stays on, what should I do as my battery keeps draining everytime I leave the car for two days and don’t drive
My best guess is your wiring is not properly done, same thing happened to me. I went back to the car electrician and told him what is happening and he switched some wires and voila.
There must be a sleep option at the very least. I think those px5 units are generally better that the ac877l units...try looking for sleep mode off option :)
Thanks mate good video however my stereo doesn't turn off when i turn the car off and remove the key. Any idea why?could my mate have wired the stereo straight up to the battery?
Must be the wiring, had the same issue myself, I had to go back to the car electrician the first time and even after he wired it properly the unit still drained the whole battery, I tested to see if the unit shuts off completely without applying the settings and it didn't. Battery gone again, charged it back up and applied these settings and voila it stopped draining the battery, finally.

Thanks for sharing this information… I was facing the battery drain problem and was thinking about adding extra switch.. but u saved me.. just one question about wiring, where to connect yellow wire, now it is connected with battery positive and red with half key ignition..
Sorry it took me so long to respond, I don't want to cause issues for you since I really do not know about the wiring. Someone else wired it for me and I had to go back to their workshop three times and still it would not shut down completely no matter what they did, even tho they assured me it was fixed, still it wasn't. Only this software trick does the job, you have to ask someone who properly understands audio wiring. If it works like this, nice but if you still have some issue it's best someone knowledgeable wires it.... on a different note I remember posting a link to someone else, it leads to a photo I had which shows what to do with the wires if you are having trouble. Sadly I don't have the link anymore but it's in the comments, have a look when you got the time ✌🏻
Ive tried the same thing. But now i think that my new issue must be the bluetooth being on. Tried just normally knocking it off? Any ideas other than airplane mode ?
Hi man, thanks for this. I have just bought a PODOFO for my 2009 Skoda, everything works the same as on your video, I accessed the interface with the codes and everything, and put shut down all then I heard about the battery that is hissed. From the photo of the low-end / high-end. Do you think my 2009 Skoda Fabia 2 (2007-2014 model I think) is low end or high end? I'd like to point out that I don't have any steering wheels and seats and everything.
In my car only disconnecting the orange and red plug (ignition) works, but after some minutes if i turn the ignition on, nothing happens.. the radio dies.. only turn on if i remove fuse and plug again.
You have to go to a car electrician my friend, they can wire it properly, mine had the same issue if I removed the canbus and tried to turn it on without a canbus, nothing screen was black, but use canbus and the radio would turn on but it would never shut down 100% and it would drain my battery, after proper wiring and doing the trick from the video now everything is fine. I hope you get it wired properly ✌🏻
Hello. I tried this setting, but i think it's still draining my battery. I noticed in the sistem info settings that the can is disconnected when i start the car. If i connect it, it stays connected until i turn the car off. Any ideas? Please!
@albinskenderovski I took it to a shop that deals with the intalation for such devices. They did cut and connect a few wires because my car has stock amp in the trunk, and i had no sound in the back. Everything works fine, I just have this battery drain issue. To be honest, after i used the setting in your video, i didn't wait to see if it still drains. I take the radio plug. I will have to take my car to an electrician to see if your settings work, but seeing in the system info that the can remains disconnected, i dont know anymore.
@gabitrandafir8396 test it out, I really hope it works 🤔 but when these settings don't work it's usually the wires that are the problem, because as I have explained to other users it also happened to me this way, once I saw that the settings were taking no effect, I asked the car electrician to see if he properly wired it and he re-did it again. After that the settings worked properly, but if you left it on Sleep the battery would still drain, but with direct shutdown the battery was no longer getting drained. These units are a hit and miss, but this way it has helped so many people at least it's something 🤷🏻♂️, strange they don't explain it in their instructions when you purchase some of these units.
@albinskenderovski I played a little bit with the unit today, and i kept checking to see if the can remains connected. So far, so good. Maybe it disconnects because i keep removing the radio plug. I can't wait to see an electrician next week for the drain test because it's frustrating to keep removing that plug. Another issue i discovered was that every time i turn on the lights, i get some static in the speakers, and i can also hear the engine in the back speakers when i rev the car. When i contacted the guy that installed it, he told me it needs a sound filter. So now i have to get that too.😃. Hopefully, everything will be fine next week. If not, I'll just burn it🤣 and try to fix the old original unit.
@gabitrandafir8396 sounds to me the unit is not properly wired if you are getting a static sound 🤔 but hopefully everything gets fixed for you, believe me I know how frustrating it is because I went through all of it🤣 it took me a while to fix it, then after that I had to also find a fix for a volume glitch that happened after raising the volume past 19 and I always had to go past 19 because it was too little before 19. All sorts of little quirks that bugged the hell out of me lol
Hi I have tried what you said but it is still in standby mode with the lights on and ignition off and car locked any ideas ? Managed to set to auto shutdown but hasn’t actually do it
Then the issue is with the wiring, I think there is a comment from a user who shared how to wire them properly, I had the same issue in the beginning, only after proper wiring would these settings work and the unit would shut down completely. I recommend a visit to a car electrician just for a checkup on the wires.
I have it set to sleep for one day (24 hours) because I like the fast asf boot while in the city, after that it shuts down completely so the battery wont die on roadtrips, cruises etc. (in theory, no idea of that setting even works 😂)

I'm going to test this setting. There's also a cable "Low Use", in the cable tree from the Radio. Disconnecting it can save Battery too. I'll let you know if this one works too. Thanks for tutorial
Yes I tried with the cable "Low Use", actually took it to a car electrician and he said he fixed it and that he knew what the problem was. I have no idea 🤔 maybe there is a wire that's been done wrong and it keeps the system sleeping withoud direct shutdown. It all depends on which car and how they wired it for you, same thing was happening to mine. Maybe try and apply the process again, also check into mtk engineering mode, there used to be an option for direct shutdown from there, I don't know if it has been removed.
Hmmm seems like you might have an issue with the wiring, have the car checked out by a professional they know which wire to cut in order for the radio not to be On when the car key is removed from the ignition. After that, apply the same settings like in this video and test it out by turning it off and waiting for about a minute and turn on the android unit and if it boots up from scratch as in from Android logo then you are fine it will no longer drain the battery. If you cannot find these settings you could tell me the Unit model number and name so that I can try and look up the specific settings for your case. Did you wait about 30 seconds to a minute for it to completely shut down? If it doesnt after that time then the wiring is done improperly, you can read the comments from about two weeks ago someone had the same issue and after rewiring and using the settings it finally worked as it should.

After doing this settings you should charge your car battery fully and then try it overnight and see if it drains the battery. There must be some issues with the way your unit is wired and it keeps the screen on, it's best to revert the settings back to the way they were. Check with a local car electrician and see if they can wire the unit to not use any power after the key is removed and then do these settings again.
Hello, the solution worked, but I wish for the screw to go off after maybe 15 seconds of not touching, but when I touch it again it comes on (sleep), anyway I can do this without messing up this setting?
@@albinskenderovski I wish for the screen to sleep after being idle (not touching) for an amount of time, as when I am driving especially in the dark the screen can be distracting
@James Hanson oooh I understand now, sadly I do not think that is possible with these devices, only thing to do is keep it at lowest brightness, I have not seen an option for a screen timeout
@@albinskenderovski when swiping down, there is a menu which says wifi, Bluetooth, etc, but there’s always a “screen off” option which seems to turn the screen off on its own, have you ever used this setting?
@James Hanson nope, at night I just lower the brightness and it doesn't bother me that much, but you can use that option to turn the screen off, I don't know how you will be able to turn it back on. Maybe just a swipe or pressing a button🤔 I haven't tested it out and I don't have the car with me to try it out
I have the same system for my Vw Ameo my battery is dead totally I am not able to crank the vehicle vehicle has been been kept side for 20 days without using after a long ride what would be the issue in my case is that wiring issue or this android unit is draining battery even when car is off
The car has not been driven for 20 days, that could be an issue in of itself. Try to turn it on using jumper cables and fill up the battery, then leave the car overnight and see if it will start in the morning. All things aside I think it is better to setup your head unit like in the video and you will never have an issue with your battery again, it does not matter how you have wired it as long as it completely shuts down it will no longer waste your car battery. Good luck.

I am so sorry that happened to you, I will be waiting for an update :)
How did it go?
Thank you for this! My Toyota Sienna died today and looking online I came across your video. My Android 12 head unit's interface is different than yours, but I was able to turn Sleep Mode OFF from "Settings" -> "Factory" -> "Sleep Mode when ACC is Off". The default setting was ON, meaning the radio was sleeping and drawing power. I turned it to OFF and that ensured a cold boot each time. The boot process is longer now, but not that bad... Maybe 20-30 seconds or so. The head unit has an 8-core CPU, perhaps that helps with the boot speed...

Thank you for your help!
I just put an android head unit to my Seat Leon MK2, and this resolved the problem with the battery drain.

In another version there is possibility to 30min, 1hour, 1day, 3day etc etc.

I think with 30min standby mode didnt drain too much the battery.

I have suzuki dezire 2021 model i have some issue on android screen it turned on and off by its self do you have a solution for that
Yes, if the unit is turning off and on by itself, like a bootloop, it's probably because it is getting too hot, mine does the same thing but only during very hot days. My solution is a blast the air conditioning on the coolest temperature and direct the vents inside, in about three minutes it stops the bootloop but again, this is for units like mine xyauto.

You have to wait about a minute before it turns off, if that is still not happening even after two minutes then maybe your issue is with the wiring. Just wait two minutes before testing if it works and make sure the settings have been saved.

In this case I think the issue is in the wiring, have you done it yourself or did you have someone else install it for you?

And it takes 2-3 minutes for it to boot up. .......................What do the other 3 options mean? Mine is at "user mode".
Did you try the sleep then restart mode? I think that's what you are looking for, but it will drain your battery, especially now during winter
@@albinskenderovski I tried all the modes. Now the radio takes 5-15 mins to boot up and sometimes it freezes. I guess I got a dud. Seller won't do anything about it.
@@50088 look at my other video where I explain how to enable engineering mode, it's the one for increasing volume, use the steps to activate mtk engineering mode and in there scroll to the right until you get to options about shutdown, I believe there was an option about Sleep mode, try changing that and see how it goes. I do not have the car anywhere close by( different country right now) but if you go to that option just tell me what you can select or unselect and I will try and help you if I can remember how mine was setup in that area.
My android doesn't show app or menu ,how to setup it ? Thanks .
So I just tried on my unit everything works like passwords and stuff but after all of that it still won’t turn off and ignition is off what do I do
Last resort, you got to go to an expert in car electronics and stuff the wiring is just not setup right and it keeps the device on, this way you are fighting an uphill battle with your car battery, sooner or later it will die on you. Also depending on your car I had replied to other people in the comments about a different wiring method, I will try to find the link of the image, also sorry for late reply🙏🏻

@@albinskenderovski yea also battery has died twice already it’s a new battery only a week old and yea it sucks becuase it’s holding me back from driving mine
@@dunechasers6197 I completely understand, I hope you can fix it by the diagram on the photo, or again a car electrician can properly connect the wires they 100% know which one is causing the issues and only after they connect it properly then try this method and make sure it shuts down completely, after waiting about 15 to 20 seconds try switching on the car and see how it goes... I hope you got some warranty on those batteries
Mine stays on, any reason why? Thanks
I have a 2010 jetta s 2.5
I’m having problems with the android stereo draining my battery and my
Stereo won’t turn on any idea what I’m facing??
Hmmm seems like you might have an issue with the wiring, have the car checked out by a professional they know which wire to cut in order for the radio not to be On when the car key is removed from the ignition. After that, apply the same settings like in this video and test it out by turning it off and waiting for about a minute and turn on the android unit and if it boots up from scratch as in from Android logo then you are fine it will no longer drain the battery. If you cannot find these settings you could tell me the Unit model number and name so that I can try and look up the specific settings for your case. These units are almost all the same, and the same settings exist somewhere buried in the Settings menu.

It doesn’t worked for me. Even in the factory settings it says that I’ve configured to “direct shutdown mode”. Also my operating system is exactly like the on in the video. I don’t know why it didn’t worked…
Probably your wiring is the issue here, the first time I used the settings it was wired differently, after I took it to a car electrician he changed something and I have no idea what, then I applied the settings and it was working like in the video.
I do all this things and nothing changed, my android radio not turn it off. Why?
Did you wait about 30 seconds to a minute for it to completely shut down? If it doesnt after that time then the wiring is done improperly, you can read the comments from about two weeks ago someone had the same issue and after rewiring and using the settings it finally worked as it should.
Thank you for sharing
I have same stereo installed aftermarket in my car. I did same setting to direct shut down but it still keep draining the battery to 1.5Amp. I tried disconnecting the screen then it come to normal 0.15Amp. I tried with taking out the all the fuses while observing the current draining and find out its the stereo system that drains out but couldn’t fix it.
Thank you
After doing this settings you should charge your car battery fully and then try it overnight and see if it drains the battery. Mine even after doing this settings it still drained the battery completely but only because it had already drained most of it before the settings where applied. If your wiring is correct and it fully shuts down I see no other reason why it should be draining so so much. Talk with a car electrician if possible they usually know which wires are culprits in such situations. Thanks for watching and I hope you get yours fixed 100% :)

There must be some issues with the way your unit is wired and it keeps the screen on, it's best to revert the settings back to the way they were. Check with a local car electrician and see if they can wire the unit to not use any power after the key is removed and then do these settings again.
Great information, thank you so much. It worked like a charm!

Could you explain a bit more clearly 🤔, it turns off completely and after 15 seconds if you touch the screen it turns on again?
@@albinskenderovski I wish for the screen to sleep after being idle (not touching) for an amount of time, as when I am driving especially in the dark the screen can be distracting
