Let’s not act like Axl didn’t know the ‘shock value’ using these words would create. Even says “That’s right.” After dropping the N-bomb. Was written from the perspective of him being a small town boy from Indiana, going to these downtown cities and seeing the mess that they are. He wasn’t trying to offend, but certainly was trying to shock. These lyrics are real, and that’s certainly missing from most music since.
best way i've seen it put. he wanted people to react, think and talk about it. I wish he could've not used certain words if i'm honest but the message/story of the song is pretty great

I don't think anyone's "acting like" anything. It's a song, I think it's a good song. I don't care what he meant by nggr. If you do, that's fine, it's not a song for you. STFU and move along.
I've always felt Axl's voice sounded particularly good with acoustic tracks. I guess acoustic tracks just allow anyone with a good voice to stand out and not be overpowered by the music.
@@AveryRulerOfElves I think if he started the illusions tour singing the way he did in 93, more color to his natural voice with light rasp instead of just screaming everything when his voice was shot in 91 it would have lasted longer. Also in 2006 on the opening shows he lost his voice and saw a vocal coach. His voice on that tour was amazing. In 2016 angus made him rehearse so his vocals for both ac dc and gnr were awesome especially when sitting down.

And of course SESAC took the original, along with over 1 million other songs. Come here to enjoy music I can't get anywhere else, but OH NO, THAT CAN'T HAPPEN, someone didn't like an agreement. Love the way you get punished for someone else's crap, EVERY TIME.
It's too bad cause the music is great. Slash's guitar is really beautiful. If it wouldn't bring attention to what they did in the past, they could write some new lyrics for it and rerelease it. I mean, this really is a pretty sing minus the words. Too bad.

This is my favorite GN'R song for these reasons:
1. Raw and honest lyrics (no holding back!)
2. Beautiful and addictive melody.

Always thought this song displays Axl vocals like no other did. The way he alternate low and high notes with totally different voicing is unmatched
I've always felt Axl's voice sounded particularly good with acoustic tracks. I guess acoustic tracks just allow anyone with a good voice to stand out and not be overpowered by the music.
Yep it’s by far my favourite vocal performance of his.
