Bait caster is like the stick shift of fishing. Your thumb is the clutch. Once you get the hang of it, you prefer it.

Let’s be serious. I see tons of fishermen fishing. But hardly anyone that’ll take their time off from fishing even for a minute or so to teach someone so respect for that. Teach a man how to fish and he’ll eat for a lifetime.

Man i have tried to teach my children, old men, women how to use a bait caster for years and bro, i am impressed on how you taught him this. Reggie just soaks it all in with out acting like he knowsit all!! Now if everyone sat back like reggie and just listen! I am impressed!!

I showed my friend today who never casted a bait caster how to and he did great and was close to the settings i have it on in about 10 minutes. Me personally had to learn on my own because I never knew someone to teach me, thats why it is great to see you doing this!

Hey 1rod 1reel , this year for christmas i got my 1st baitcaster researched youtube all day to learn then went out and tried my bait caster i feel like i can use my bait caster with confidence now thanks 1rod.
For a person to take time out of there fishing day to take someone fishing to teach them how to use a baitcaster is awesome..
I’ve always used a spinning tackle. But I’ve been told by a lot of avid bass fisherman I know, that once you get used to a bait caster…you’ll never go back. I might just have to go out and get me one now!! Lol THANKYOU for the great tutorial!!

I would like to say thanks I used this video to start my baitcaster career. I've always used a spinner but my friends said to try a baitcaster. I have a ugly stick gx2 medium 6.6' cuz of this video and others I subscribed keep up the great work man.

Another tip for you Reggie. To learn thumb timing go to an open area and make short lobbing casts. This allows you train your thumb to be a brake. As you learn timing, decrease the arc. Once you get more direct casts you can start decreasing the tension knob. As you get more comfortable, you can start with your magnetic brakes. You WILL backlash...continue Mike's lesson on untangling. In time you become good at it. The key is not giving up. Hope to see you using a baitcaster in upcoming vids.

Reggie is a great student. Most people don’t get it that fast. And you get a little credit too as the teacher.
Beginners are confused on tuning the baitcaster. What I am about to say isn’t accurate but suprisingly helpful. They told me the magnetic system controls the backlash when it hits the water. The tension knob, controls the backlash while you cast or when its in the air.
Tension knob provides continuous “braking” throughout all parts of the cast. The “magnetic system” provides braking during the beginning and end parts of the cast.

My favorite has always been rainbow trout , then pompano , add light soy sauce, scallions , mint leaves , salsa & lime 😋 for fried pompano , I never eat the skin . Had a friend that cooked a big mouth with scales on 😳

I'm still using a Shimano bantam-100 mag from 1988. I tore it apart and cleaned it like crazy and replaced the ball bearing in it as the original bearings were practically falling out of it. It cast amazing.

Any tips on fishing in weather like Alabama. I've tried everything lures wise and can't figure out what gets most bites. Always revert back to live bait because I fail so hard at lures. I want to learn to lure fish lol
I love seeing new beginner baitcasters always casting to their left (if right handed) or right (if left handed). Takes a bit of practice to get to go straight exactly where you want it lol

That first backlash was like a mild one when I got a baitcaster. Nobody ever schooled me how to use it so I eventually got mad a tossed it. Now a few years later I learned about the brakes and thumb

I completely forgot about this video. I bought my first baitcaster Saturday. Watched a couple videos and took it out Sunday. This video did not show up on my search. Felt frustrated after hours of pulling out backslashes. After watching this, I see why I was having the issues and will be making a new attempt very soon.
