    (This video was not sponsored by any of the places shown. The places shown are my personal recommendations)
    Singapore - An Introduction to Asia
    Singapore, one of the most important world cities, is the best choice for your first destination in Asia. The rich ethnic mixture - Chinese, Malays, Indians, Eurasians and others - allows you to get an insight in some of the largest cultures of Asia. Due to Singapore’s excellent organization, it is nowadays the cleanest and safest country in Asia. Thanks to the strict regulations on hygiene, you can pretty much try all kinds of Asian cuisines without having to worry about food poisoning. It is the high standards in hygiene and the rich mixture of cultures that made Singapore to a foodie capital in Asia. Embracing the ethnic and religious diversity, it is food that unites all people of Singapore.
    Having only 1 day of traveling, organizing your itinery matters a lot! In this video, I provide you a travel guide that maximizes the gain you can get out of visiting Singapore for only 1 day.
    1. Start your visit at Chinatown and stay there from around 10am to 1pm. Spend some time at the festive market at Pagoda Street, dine at the foodie avenue (Smith Street) and visit the religious sites.
    2. Head to Kampung Glam and spend roughly 2 hours 2 to 4pm. It is very much of an Islamic neighborhood that showcases Malay and Indian Muslim culture. Visit the Sultan Mosque, the carpet shops, Turkish and middle eastern restaurants and haji lane. The latter provides an interesting mixture of cafes, a perfect place to go out to have a beer.
    3. Little India gives you a taste of how life back in the motherland on the subcontinent may look like. Hosting plenty of clothing and jewelry shops, Indian restaurants, hindu temples, mosques, churches and wet markets, you definitely gonna have enough impressions.
    4. Marina Bay is nowadays the most famous and visited area of Singapore. I recommend to visit it last, so that you can attend the light shows that only take place after sunset. Visit the famous Marina Bay Sands mall and hotel, Bay Front, Gardens by the Bay and the Marina Bay Skypark.
    Budget:
    Singapore is often seen as a very expensive city. However, it is possible to travel on budget, because public transport is cheap. Riding the MRT is quite cheap (less than 2 SGD) and thus highly encouraged. Foodwise, Singapore is generally cheap, but of course dining can also be very expensive. Generally, foodcourts offer cheap dishes, a meal can cost 3-10 SGD including water or fruit juice. In ordinary restaurants you may spend about 20 SGD. I usually recommend people to share the food to enjoy more variety, its the culture here in Southeast Asia! The attractions I have presented are all free, Buddha temple, mosque, hindu temples no entrance fees, only the Sri Mammariaman temple imposes a photo ticket but admission is free. A visit to Gardens by the Bay is free! Going up to the OCBC skywalk bridge at the Gardens by the Bay costs 8 SGD, the queue gets usually very long near twilight. Queueing time can be about 30-40minutes. The lasershow at Bayfront is free too! So many great things in Singapore are actually free as you can see! A visit to the Marina Bay Skypark costs 23 SGD, unlimited time to stay (until closure at 11pm). The skypark is cheaper than the Flyer (Ferrywheel).

    Wow! I'd previously ignorantly discounted Singapore from my travel bucketlist because I'm more on the budget end of things and I'd only really seen pics of the malls and stuff, which aren't really my thing. But what an incredibly vibrant place - it actually ticks all my bucketlist city destination boxes (architecture, cultural sites, food, fun street culture!!). Definitely worth budgeting for. Thanks for this!

      Hi Azhar. Thank you very much! In this video I have given the explanations of how to reach the city centre from the airport, also how to travel to each of these locations, showing the MRT map. From the airport to the city centre, it will cost around 2 SGD, to travel around by downtown line from one stop to the other one around 0.67 SGD. I suggest to buy an E/Z Link card. You can top it with 15 SGD and use it anytime, even when you return to Singapore. The E/Z Link is valid for up to 5 years after your last use. Any time later it will expire.

    • @DjemoGraphic
      @DjemoGraphic  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Gary - Thank you for considering my suggested itinery :D So in Gardens by the Bay you may want to consider the OCBC Skywalk Bridge (~8 SGD Entrance fee). The bridge closes at 8:30 I think. The queues get longer after 7pm. Though I found waiting was worth it. Then also in Gardens by the Bay you may want to visit the "Cloud Forest", a manmade "high altitude rainforest", which resembles the nature in Papua. Regarding the boat for the light show, I am not sure if it would be so enjoyable, because I still think the best view is from the MBS stage itself. I hope I could answer your question.

    I’m coming for one day. My flight is landing 8am and I have booked a hotel near Arab street. I need to some shopping at mustafa mall. Can you guide me to cover all your recommended places with my shopping

    • @DjemoGraphic
      @DjemoGraphic  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Since Mustafa Mall is a 24h open shopping centre you should do that at the end of your day. I suggest you start with Chinatown at 11am, then do Kampong Glam, then for dinner little India and then marina Bay. If you dont mind to walk from Kampong Glam (your hotel) to Mustafa centre, then you can do that after you completed your day trip. Because, Marina Bay is best after sunset.

      Hi Bui Truong. The Gardens by the Bay can be visited for free, which includes the light show. You only have to pay for the Floral Fantasy, Flower Dome, Cloud Forest and the Skywalk Bridge.

    I have layover from 7:00 AM till 20:40 on 1st of January so I planned to visit the city from 9-17 how much I can squeeze in that time ? Chinatown and Marina ?

      Zdravo Petar
      You have nearly the whole day available. Among my four areas I have presented, you need to drop out at least one. I think Chinatown is good to start your day with 9-11 am. Then you either go to Little India or Bugis MRT station (Kampong Glam [Arab Street]) 11:30 to 1pm. Then go to Bayfront MRT station and enjoy MBS Mall and go to Gardens by the Bay (bring sunscreen and a hat it's very hot at that time). You can enjoy indoors the Floral Fantasy and the Cloud Forest. Unfortunately, the light shows are held after sunset at 7pm. I hope I could help you with that. Where are you going after that? Australia / New Zealand?

      Hi. I have been to Penang, 3x. Penang managed to preserve it's historical old city very well, which I find a big plus. Singapore is more cosmopolitan. I find both places have their charm; similar but not the same. I would like to return to Penang again and try more Penang foods.
