I spent $7500 for 6 people on Disney all in last year and I thought that was wayyyy too much.
feel better after your youtube confession? Does digital confession work on social media? that will cost you 10 hail marys and 5 acts of contrition!
My Grandma and Grandpa paid for a big family vacation for us 20 years ago, still my favorite vacation. Enjoy it!
Not at the expense of their retirement. Lol.
Everything is great when it’s free even the food taste better
My mother did the same right before she retired for the whole family. We rented a house on the Disney property and the entire family stayed together for a week. It was a great experience that everyone enjoyed. It was even more memorable as my brother and his family transferred to Germany for the Army shortly after so we didn’t see each other again for a good part of my niece and nephews childhood. The whole point of saving money is be able to use it to enjoy life and create memories that last with family and friends. Money is a tool not a ends.
@@topsykretts2264 maybe they should sit at home and eat ramen noodles for the rest of their lives instead of spending the money they worked for!
@@topsykretts2264 if this was at the expense of their retirement, they would’ve told them no. they’re clearly fine
Best ride at Disney is the Air Conditioned Bus Ride back to the airport.
Lol Disney is a corrupt company. Lost its true magic years ago. Don't know why people support such a company still.
😂

Hahaa....BINGO!!
A lot of people in the comments, who are not millionaires, sure have a lot of opinions on this woman’s family trip. Who gives a rip what she does to celebrate her retirement? She earned it!
right?! good for her
Agree. Imagine all the broke people here criticizing her decisions.
@@jasonburns6411 broke people be jelly. financial discipline over a lifetime should never be rewarded.
yeah others are jealous.... that's a lifetime memory that everyone will remember. They worked hard and treating their family. We want to treat our parents like that when we achieve FI. Because if you can afford by all means make memories that will last for life!
Well, she did call into a show to ask if she should… kinda implies she’s looking for outside opinions lol
This is proof that hard work and diligence pays off. What an amazing opportunity. I hope that I'll have the opportunity to do something like this for my kids/grandkids someday!
I like the way you talk
You will if you remain focus and allow God to Lord over you. Blessings follows! I’m believing this for you and for my family!
Just not Disney 😂😂 maybe something and somewhere else 😅
The truth is a lot of people are struggling out there. We are suffering and don't know where our next meal is coming from. Student loan relief and a proper UBI would go a long way in helping us all out. We could put food on the table and pay our bills.
you wanna take them to pedofilia land? that what disney is now

Would you like to pay my Mortgage and Taxes?!!
Congratulations Ms. Caroline you have earned this! I hope y’all have a wonderful time! Eat the ice cream, take the pictures and relish the memories. Safe travels!!
There's something to be said about doing things earlier in your retirement while your health is good, especially when your finances are in good shape. But man, I would draw the line at a Disney vacation. 🤣
Would limit it to kids their spouses and grand kids.
I told my wife to take the cost of a Disney vacation, and I’ll pay her that much to not have to go
@@cherylbroadenax1006 who else would go…?
True. Walking Disney is more difficult in your seventies.
@@cherylbroadenax1006That's who's going. Good grief.
There is a lot better places to go with 50k than Disney. Completely overrated
No kidding. I can think of places you could spend a year, that would be more fun...
Hell even a month with a $1,500/day budget in Europe would be better.
Naw Disney is pretty fun! We have been twice. It was totally worth it imo. Different strokes!
Fact!
I was just thinking that there's plenty of other cheaper amusement parks they can go to. My area is a tourist area (Coeur d'Alene, Idaho) and we have a regular amusement park called Silverwood, an indoor/outdoor kids amusement park called Triple play and lake boat cruises.
The Disney cruise is amazing shooot!! Disneyland eh- too many lines and walking.
She was hoping Dave would say no😂
That’s hysterical!!!
😂 lol…probably right!
😂😂😂
I think that's right!
Her frugal side is screaming say no Dave pleeeeease.
Disney is nice and all but not worth $50K. Then again, she can afford it with absolutely no financial issues so I'd say go for it
So you don’t think it’s worth it but you think she should do it because she can afford it. With that kind of reasoning, you’re going to struggle in your own financial life.
@@Willtellthetruth Same reason rich people buy private planes and yachts. You can't take it with you and if it makes her happy then so be it.
@@WilltellthetruthWhen he says it’s not worth it, he’s saying that he personally doesn’t find Disney that enjoyable. Not that this woman financially can’t afford it. I agree. Even if I had 10 million dollars, I wouldn’t spend 50k taking a bunch of people to Disney.
Disney with 20 people? I'd say $50k is quite reasonable. It's not everyone's thing, but if it is and you have the money, go for it.
I mean… 2.5k per person is a lot but not insane if you’re covering everything.
I abhor Disney with all my heart and could not be paid to go. BUT, I know people LOVE it with all their heart and that is a pretty awesome gift to give the family if that is was they really want to do.

She's still relatively young and this trip will be good for the family. Go while you can still physically survive a entire day or more walking around Disneyland.
That pension makes a big difference.
It sure does.
Putting aside a portion of every paycheck into a 401k also makes a difference too.
as a millennial I just think "that sounds nice"
@@devonteforemanim so jealous 😩😩😩
Washington DC caller with a pension at 62 and retired = incompetent government employee.
Personally, I wouldn't pay that for Disney but at 62, I say she needs to enjoy retirement while she's still able to. I have family who can't go anywhere because they have a hard time walking. Just be careful to not use up too much of the nest egg.
Go-go years are for traveling and spending $$$. Go for it!
she's got 1 million in savings. They're 62 and a lot of people are living to 90. Easy to go through 1 million in 30 years especially if one go them gets sick or needs nursing care. in my opinion, paying for other peoples vacations is something people only do if they have 5 million or more. 1 million is the cost of a small condo these days it doesn't go far like it used to. An old pickup truck is $50,000 in todays world.
@@imveryhungry112 Did you not read "just be careful to not use up too much of the nest egg"? It's not like she's planning on doing this again plus she still has an income.
@@sprint7412 I know this issue very well. My parents retired with about the same nestegg they have. Dad got sick had to go to nursing home. Nursing home charge $10,000+ a month and its the cheapest one in our area. 1 million is the bare minimum for a retirement and throwing $50,000 at a vacation for the entire family is odd when you yourself are not rich at all. Its like, trying to play rich when your not.
The sad truth is a lot of people are struggling out there. We are suffering and don't know where our next meal is coming from. A proper UBI and student loan relief would go a long way in helping us all out. We could pay our bills and put food on the table.
I’d never pay that much for Disney. But in her position, she should do it. She’s 62 with 20 family members with 1.1 million saved. Those family moments will be remembered by everyone in the family. She won’t be around forever.
She's young thinking old actually.
My wife (41) and I (42) are finally in a position to take our niece (16), nephews (12,6) and their parents to Disney next year and I honestly can't wait to see the face of the little one.
$1.1 million isn’t as much as it used to be. If the stock market crashes tomorrow it could cut into that. $50K is more than she should be withdrawing in a year at a 4% safe withdrawal rate. She needs to plan to live another 25+ years, the average 63 year old will make it to 85
@@TonyCox1351agreed that is not enough saved for that kind of expense.
@@raiden031 its clearly enough since even Dave is agreeing she should spend, money can't go with you when you die and she has a pension as well. She may not even have to use it depending on their expenses, if ssi and pension can cover for 10+ years, that could be 10+ years of non stop growth in safe investments. Its better to enjoy life while she can bc the older she gets, the less likely she will be able to do something like this, hoarding your money and being alone is not worth it.
It’s not $50k to Disney, it’s $50k for a group of 20 plus travel….. hotel…….
What a blessing! I hope the family have a grand time
In her position, i would be more hesitant about traveling with 20 family members more than how much she spent 😂
YES! Her family must be easier to travel with than mine is.
I would choose a different location and venue over Disneyland yet to each their own.
Go and enjoy! You are healthy and have the means to do this trip. Have fun and make nice memories with your loved ones. They will remember and talk about this trip forever ❤🎉
Not my cup of tea but she has more than enough and earned it. Her kids and grandkids will look fondly in the time spent. I would’ve loved this kinda trip (well not Disney but still) if my dad was still around.
We get it bro, you don’t like Disney
I don’t know about “more that enough”. She could live another 30 years. She has enough if she spends wisely
@@Hawaii567there wasn’t anything for you to “get”. I say what I want to say…

A proper UBI and student loan relief would go a long way in helping us all out. We could pay our bills and put food on the table. Why don’t Ken and Dave want that for us?
Why somebody seems mad when Dave told her to spend HER money? She worked for 40 years to get where she is now, and who know how long left she can spend her hard earn money. And this is one time things will leave one of the best memories to her children & grandchildren
My 88 year old, retired Navy (Capt.) uncle is taking his two kids, their wives, four of their kids, and my mom, all expenses paid, to Germany next year.
Spend it while you are still on this earth. There will be plenty for his two kids and grandkids when the time comes.
I told my mom (80) that you should not pass up this opportunity. It is a once in a lifetime trip, and she's missed others that she regrets, but it was because she could not afford to pay her own way. This way, she'll be able to make the trip and not have to worry about money.
i thought the children are supposed to pay for the trip
If you’re gonna go to Disney once, just spend the extra cash to skip the line. Worth it!
Go to a national park and see the natural world. Disney is fun but it is a rip off. Food cost is crazy.

Not a Disney fan but I wish I could do this one day for my family. It’ll be a lovely memory for everyone to enjoy even after you pass!
Whatever you do, don't go in the heat of summer when you will spend more time sweating in long lines than actually riding the attractions. Jan - Feb. are excellent months for weather crowds aren't nearly as bad.
Just don't go during Christmas/New Years Eve. Crowds are insane and it's miserable with how long the lines are
I love Dave moaning about being on a cruise as he's hosting one next year.
We love the disney cruises so much we're doing one for our anniversary without the kids. Finally, we can hang on the boat, relax and look at people run after their kids rather than being the ones who are being looked at 😂
Disney cruises are the worst possible cruises you can pay for. They have the smallest and oldest ships of any fleet, the costs are astronomical compared to Royal Caribbean and Carnival. Worst deal for a sub par time on a boat that gets beat back and forth more than any other. I'd recommend spending half as much, being gone twice as long, and on a ship 4-5x's larger with one of other cruise lines
@@sierra7534 you sound like a broke person

This is good for her and her family. But is 1.1m enough for retirement though? I’m 55 from Sri Lanka but worked overseas in USA all my life. I have savings of $1,000,000 and I'm ready for retirement, only concerned about the soaring inflation. Is this enough to retire comfortably, or do I need some sort of money management??
Glad to hear from another buckeye! comfortable retirement depends on your lifestyle...
I would get money management just in case. You’re only 55. I think the average life expectancy in the US is 77.5 years, but many people live well into their 80s so that $1 million has to last you all of that and the unforeseen. $1m is a great start though. Good for you!!
I’m quite lucky exposed to personal finance at early age, started job 19, purchased first home 28. Going forward, got laid-off at 36 just after covid-outbreak, and at once hired an advisor with grit to help stay afloat. I've been fortunate enough to achieve a 10x return compared to my previous efforts as a DIY investor, summing up nearly 85% ROI as of today.. My best so far!!
bravo! i'm 46, inherited money from a childless relative and traveled overseas, got married to a lady almost my age, but the only issue is how to preserve and grow my wealth in view of retirement, can your advisor be of help please?
Kristin Amber Landis is the licensed advisor I use. Just research the name. You’d find necessary details to work with to set up an appointment.
She can do whatever she wants, but I would never spend that much on Disney World. Even if I had an endless supply of money, I've heard from so many tourists that the quality of the experience has gone downhill FAST post-pandemic.
I cannot speak to that. But I took my daughter many years ago when she was young, and it was expensive. But as her father, seeing the smile on her face was worth every penny.
Disney World is amazing for kids it just a fact
For people are saying she shouldn't do it, after age 72, if you aren't spending a certain amount of your retirement, you get more taxed on it. She has a million in retirement. If she doesn't spend some of that, the government will be nipping part of it away every year.
As they should it’s for spending not hoarding away waiting to pass on wealth to kids that do t need it!
You dont get taxed on your money if you dont withdraw from it. It only gets taxed once you withdraw from it.
@@chessmaster1115 But starting at age 72 there is a requirement to withdraw a specific percentage each year from tax-deferred accounts like 401k and 403b (not Roth IRA though).
i do not know how her money is invested and I suspect you do not either. A lot of people are 100% roth ira or will be when finshed rolling over. no taxes and no rmd. assuming she will need to take rmds shows your lack of knowledge about investing and retirement.
Love that this points out it’s okay to spend money you do indeed have on things you enjoy. 💖
for sure sounds like a great idea!! and you get to do it while your in good health!! don't miss out on it because anything could happen!! such a blessing
Our family doesn't have a lot of money but we have taken a few trips and never regretted one single trip! We have funny stories and memories and pictures that can never be replaced! During the pandemic my DIL father died at the young age of 64! The pictures and the memories from these little trips that we took are priceless and I wouldn't take back any penny that we ever spent because you can't take it with you when you go! Suze orman says people first then things then money! Tomorrow is not promised to anyone! Go and bless your family❤
My parents took all three of us kids, plus spouses, plus ten grandkids on a week cruise to Alaska to celebrate their 45th wedding anniversary. My younger sister had completed treatment for Stage 3 breast cancer the previous year (diagnosed at 33), so they felt very strongly that they should do it while everyone was healthy. It was a wonderful vacation, and Mom (now age 92) still has plenty of money to live on, 24 years later.
Love this!!!
I think they put pixie dust in my food on our Disney cruise. 3 Disney cruises later it hasn't worn off. I remember how stressful it was the first time because we didn't have debt paid off and we had never spent money even close to that for a vacation. On our 3rd and 4th cruises it was an unbelievable feeling to disembark and know that everything was paid, and no debt was incurred. We still have other financial goals to achieve like building an emergency fund, but we went a decade without a vacation, so we needed to have some good quality time together. Happy for this lady and her family getting to enjoy something together!
That is awesome that she is able to even be able to give such an experience to her family. My mom unfortunately passed away half a year before a planned family trip to Disney World. We were thankfully able to save enough money to pay for the trip in cash a year and a half later
I have refused an all expenses paid trip to Disney just based on principle.
My mom does a family vacation nearly every summer. Not as expensive as Disney but she'll rent a big place usually near a national Park and invite all her children, grandchildren and spouses. It's worth it to get to get all the family together.
Good for her and her family. A saver for life deserves a couple of weeks in Florida to make memories 👍🏻
What a great mom. I wish I had a mom thought about anyone other than herself.
Cue the "I hate Disney" comments borne mostly out of culture wars, lol.
Is Disney World in 2024 expensive? Yes.
Is Disney World too crowded? For me, yes because I don't like people and crowds.
Does Disney World put on "show"? 100% ABSOLUTELY YES as someone who took my daughter many years ago.
Was Disney World worth what I paid? YES!! If only for the smile on my daughter's face when she was 6 years old.
Lol you are out of the loop. The number of child offenders they've hired should be enough to not take your children there. Not to mention they actively push anti-family values. But keep giving money to people who hate you. I'm sure that will make things better.
great advice, amazing! would have advised same. makes sense for this case exactly what he's sayin.
I wouldn't do it simply because the grand kids will say their favorite part was the swimming pool at the hotel.
The memories will be for you grandma because the grand kids under 10 years of age won't remember much of this trip in 5 years.
I've traveled on what I would call exotic luxury tours to China, Africa and South America, and I've never spent ANYWHERE near that much money - not even half that amount. I wouldn't spend all that money on Disney. Still, it's her money and her decision, if it makes her happy.
I saw the title and said HELLLLLL NO lol!! But with the context added of 20 people at $2500 pp, this isn't too bad. With that much invested and actually being retirement age with a pension, DEFINITELY! What's the point of saving all of your life you never get to enjoy it with family. Plus this can be motivation for their kids and grandkids.
The amount of people crying about how she spends her own money, when she has more than enough, is wild.
Do it!! Just don’t go in the summer. Christmas time is amazing.
I would pay 50k to see Dave in Micky ears!!!!!
Great job on saving $ and what great memories for your kiddo!!!
I think she could afford it, but I feel like her adult kids should be chipping in as well.
My retired in-laws just treated us to a nice vacation, but I make a good salary.. I always offered to pay for every other meal for everyone and chipped in on gas.
That’s bc you are appreciative of what they do. Unfortunately not everyone is like that. I personally would love to do this for my family, but would pay for the tickets and they pay for the transportation and meals or something like that. It depends on the families circumstances. I imagine we will take our family (kids and grandkids) on trips one day. We vacation a lot as a family of 5 now and talk about how things will be in the future when the kids have their kids.
You have no way of knowing what has been offered to her by her kids. She may not have even proposed the trip yet. This may have been a preliminary convo and she was basing cost on estimates.

She's 62. Can't take it with you.
I love this call.
As someone who plans Disney vacations for a living, it doesn’t need to cost nearly this much if you plan accordingly.
I would rather go out of the country for $50k…that’s insane
insanity is being broke and complaining about how someone else is frugal, saved, and invested and is now spending their money instead of learning how to do it themselves.
$50k isn’t going to go very far on an out of country trip for 20 people. Flights will probably take half. Got to sleep and eat still.
This trip will create so many great memories! My advice: While you have your health, rent a house on the beach each year or maybe a house
in the mountains...
Disneyland sucks. Paying $50k to go to Disneyland doublely sucks
I just don't understand why she has to pay for everyone to go it doesn't make sense to me. Unless your really rich like 10 million or more how can you pay for 20 people to take a vacation all at once?
@imveryhungry112 She doesn't have to. She wants to.
@Dean-oh4pi when you try to play rich when your not rich typically that's unwise

A Disney trip like that is a huge waste of money but she does have it to waste with over a million
She's a millionaire. 50K is nothing. But I get it--when you are used to saving your whole life, spending is something you have to learn.
As someone who lives a couple hours from Disney and has gone multiple times over my life….NO IT’S NOT WORTH IT!
50k can take you on a fabulous vacay nearly anyplace else.
Work hard, play hard! She’s earned her money and can spend it as she pleases ❤
I absolutely agree with Dave. You’re not touching your 401 while it’s still earning. Use those earnings to create unforgettable experiences for your family. We’ve been traveling for many years now and recently my husband told me that most of his best memories of our family and kids are from those trips.
I plan on doing exactly the same thing for my kids and grandkids. My husband and I never lived beyond our means, and spent money only on things that truly matter to us. For us, it’s travel and experiences.
Go for it!
You go girl👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
My folks have a $1.6million nest egg with a pension, they own their home, and are 100% debt free. I wouldn’t encourage this for them. $50k is too much for this kind of expenditure
Respect to this lady. 99 percent of Americans who would do such a trip would just throw it on a credit card with no intentions of ever paying it back.
YESSS!!!! Have a ball!!!
I wouldn't want to go to Disney if they paid ME $50K. 😒
I wouldn't do it but then again I don't have 1.1M in retirement or 50k for a vacation. 😂
I can think of 1,000 places I would prefer to go for 50k over Disneyland.
I can think of doing anything else on the planet over going to Disneyland 😂😂😂
It's a one time thing, and you're a millionaire with pension. Do it!!! The people saying save it are crazy lol she literally saved and invested her entire life, this is the whole point. When did we switch to not even spending your money in retirement age?
After taxes, $1.1 million is not that much for retirement. I don’t think they’re in a position to spend that kind of money personally.
Best wishes to the lady and her family
I love it!
Can't judge what people like or find fun to do. If this is what would bring her joy, and her family all wants to do this, why not? Tomorrow isn't promised. Make the memories. Happy retirement.
Retirement is the time of your life to have the time of your life
All I remember as a kid was waiting in lines for hours and hours just to go on a 10 minute ride. Never went back
I'm amazed he said yes. Almost 5% of her net worth for ONE trip. If she makes those decisions just 20 times, she'll have almost nothing. Loads of things in life can be one-offs and once you start, its hard to stop.
Well, she has saved up 30k, so only 20k out of 1.1 million. And if it’s growing that’s at least 100k on average in a years time. Plus she has a pension which she does her day to day spending. So if she takes 20k out per year she will be fine 💯
I think it would be totally different if she were living off the investments. She said they are barely going to touch that, they live off pension & SS
1. It's 5% of her retirement account. Not 5% of her net worth.
2. Even so, she said that she and her husband live off of their other income (pension and social security) and have no debt, so she doesn't touch her retirement account. There's an extremely high chance that she could do this once per year for the rest of her life and her retirement account balance would still grow considerably.
BINGO! @@BrianW211
You really don’t understand how finances work, do you?
Go and have fun with your family at Disney!
Good call Dave.
Feels good to treat family this way. Some memories are priceless. YOLO.
Wow my husband and I spent the same
amount traveling around South America, North America, and Europe for 7 months.
Including EVERYTHING like car rental, tours, accommodation, flights, food etc. And we are from Japan currently with the worst exchange rate in the last 30 years.
The fact that people think it’s ok to spend that amount on a one week cruise is just madness, regardless of the money you have in your bank account. Or maybe great marketing from Disney since people think it’s ok as long as it’s a ‘one time thing’
Lolz that trip is way more than my paid corolla
I like Dave's analysis that the expenditure is the income on the nest egg (not living expenses) and probably once in a lifetime (kids age out of the magical Disney age fast & also probably rare to get all schedules aligned for 20 people). Plus, she has no debt, 7 figure+ net worth, so it is like a family themed "give like no one else" because she lived like no one else theme. Also, Disney Parks should sponsor Ramsey after this!
Been to disney 6 times. Spent a lot over those trips. Last trip was the last time for a long time. Not worth it anymore.
The reason why it CAN cost $50k to go to Disney World is because so many people have convinced themselves it is a necessary experience
That is awesome! Good for this lady and her family! I love Disney and that is such a fun thing to do. Spoil all your grandkids.
The fact you can pay to skip lines makes it even less likely I'll ever go there again (It's been 40 years). At least on a plane your all getting to your destination at about the same time.
ummmm was anyone else shocked by Dave's response? Was NOT expecting that.
Disney has sucked for the last 15 to 20 years, no idea why people continue to go there and pay the prices. and I am someone that used to go a lot and my brother works for the company too
