I worked at a prop shop one summer where we rebuilt props, modified them, and tuned the running. The very first thing we would do is put a level on the pad part of the boat and raise or lower the jack at the front of the boat to get it level. After that we would run the level from the pad of the boat to the water intake on the lower unit and set the motor where the top hole on the water intake was just below level, that way we would know that it wasn't going to lose water pressure then is was all tinker with prop pitch and different brands. The best at that time seemed to be a Predator 4 blade with putting a "J" cup at the tip of each blade and it would really lift that boat.
The holes in the early version were pilot holes that you drill out to the size you needed. Drill out to the Merc size for using their plastic restriction bushings and swap out the size that works best for your engine/boat combination. They use a progressive blade design so the pitch gets more aggressive from the leading edge to the trailing edge. It's stiff by 2.5 so if you want a 26 order one that's 2-3p lower.
Holy crap!!! Go buy the magic dust!!! After Andy put it on mine. 199.99. My boat like said let me eat something!!! Its a complete different machine!!! Am diffenty going to have to go to a bigger prop. Going to put that m27 amd try it!!! Holly cow, its not the same boat!!! Once again your the man! Alread talked to the wife about vacation there next year!!! Hope we can get the guys together and go fishing 1 day on the weekend
I know I’m a couple months late but I’ve run a 25 scorpion on a skeeter zx225 with a 225 sho. After the Yamaha t2 “surprisingly” slung an ear. The scorpion was amazing. Tons more bite, lots of mid range response, picked up 2 mph with 200 less rpm. Didn’t get to spend a ton of time on the setup. Wasn’t my boat and owner took it back.
Hey everyone, had Andy look at my boat and yes it was not set up correctly! Andy did his magic amd I am now hitting the rpms and am now going to have to go up in prop. Andy thanks for the magic dust!!!
96 champ 186 175 merc efi on transom, came with a 25p quicksilver, prop shop said thats for bow rider type boats and gave me a powertech tro4 23p, amazing how much better performance a prop can make, i had no idea, im getting a ton more lift and fuel mileage hitting 60mph full load at 5600 5700rpm, only thing is i was going wide open and let off the throttle quite a bit and the rear end tried to kick out, freaking scary!
Well you had my boat out and you have a idea what the scorpion will do on a 225 sho know. Sorry for commenting so much but holy crap, I can't believe the difference!!! Scary fast know!!!!
I'm running a 23 Solas Scorpion on my 2020 Ranger 620 Pro FS with a 300 Merc Pro XS with Atlas 8" jackplate. It was one of the last props I tested since everything I seeing on line was pushing Bravo's 20 to 22. Didn't think that I could turn the 23 but tested it and finally got the bow lift I was looking for. Top speed went from 60 - 62 to 64 to 66. I ran the Scorpion on a 2013 Ranger 620VS with a 250 SHO with Atlas jack plate and got 63 to 65 mph. I've run both the first generation and the new and as stated in the video the hole shot is better with the larger vents.
Enjoying the discussion. Can relate to $$ with only 1.5 mph improvement, mainly from bow lift. So to share and follow with the current challenge if have: 2016 250 SHO 21p, 14 1/2 M-series prop on a 2016 Ranger FS620 multi-species with an 8 inch setback getting 58 mph at 5750 to 5850 rpm WOT. In pristine conditions did make 61 mph once (with half tank and one person)! Bow mount, windshield, kicker, extra gear all do not help speed and lift. Replacing Slidemaster with Atlas 8" hydraulic and keep trying this summer. Sitting with 3 SS props now and will to sell, even the custom 20", while following along for more ideas. Thanks, jws
If you guys have problems, with your boat and your dealer says there's nothing wrong with it but you know there is, bring it to these guys, they are honest and will find the problem. Took a 11hr drive and when I have anymore problems I will take the trip again, also it is a beautiful town on the river and you can go fishing after your boat gets fixed!!! Will be back next year just for a weeks vacation! Had to add a little more Andy! Hope you guys like the lures I painted for you guys!!!
Hello I am running a 201 Pro XL Stratus I have a 250 Evinrude E-Tec and I'm running a 24 pitch Renegade 2 and I'm running right at 70 that for me is perfect I do not have a Jack Plate I mounted straight to the back of the boat I enjoy it
What do you think about the Balistic props, what is the best one for a mercury 2 stroke 125 and what about for a Yamaha F90 four stroke love all the awesome videos lots of funny ones to never boring to watch this channel.
Im running a 24-p vented scorpion on a 250ss on a 20' gatortrax strike series bass boat. I mostly drive it at about 3100ft elevation. At about 6000 rpm (foot all the way down), 10" jack plate at about 15 on my guage, which is about 3/4 of the way up, top speed is about 62 to 64mph. Was told the boat would so 70mph, no problem. Wondering if it is turned up all the way.
@@TeamMarineService As soon as it stops raining and snowing maybe I'll be able to break in motor enough to get true numbers. Is the Rocky Ricoco's still open there? Back in my younger days that place cured a few hangovers
i have a 22ft custom made alum. boat. it has a hydraulic CMC jack plate and a 225 Suzuki the prop is 16x23. It gets out the water good but top end is at 54 mph turning 5800 rpm. jack plate 1/4 up( any high it blows out) trim is 3/4 . This boat also has a full windshield kind of like a Hanko. should i re prop? i want at least 60-65 mph or is the boat under powered?
Get that SHO flashed and you will most likely increase fuel economy 25 - 50 ish %. I have a 22' GatorTrax Strike that is fairly heavy and pretty big for a bass boat with a 225 SHO on the back. Running nearly empty on fuel, driver, gear, livewells on all 5 of my props the best I could get was 57 with a Trophy+ 25p and getting around 2.7 MPG. After flashing to the 332 I've been able to get 68 light loaded and 65 full load, 50gallons fuel, full live wells, (2) 200+ lbs guys, and (4) 31 series batteries with the BRV4 25p at 4.2 MPG.
So i had a hell of a time propping my stratos 20ss extreme with a 2015 honda 250. Started with the honda 15 1/8x25 blew it out. Next went to a powertech 4 blade ofx4 in 25, 26 and 27p. The 25 was the one that worked the best. 26&27 were too much pitch. The power tech 25p i didnt really like but its the one that was consistent for hole shot and top end. Tried the the fury 3 blade 25,26p and blew them out and i ended up buying a mercury promax 27p which had a terrible hole shot with a tournament load but a ton of lift and i could get almost 10mph than the powertch but that prop is not a off the shelf prop and cost me over $800 from a dealer. I could get about 76-77 with the promax and about 66-67 with the power tech. I think the motors with a higher gear ratio on bass boats need to spin more of a 14ish diameter instead of the 15ish but that just my s.w.a.g. i think if i could find a fury 4 26p or drill the holes out on the promax that would have been a better prop than the powertech prop. Also had a bobs 6" hydraulic. Just some info for anyone trying to set up a honda basser.
I know I'm "Late to the game" on this one but couldn't find any video that talks about props to the extent you do. - Thanks! I'm re-powering a 1998 Skeeter ZX202dc with a new Suzuki DF200A. Suzuki rep told me the power head is the same as the 200SS(?) but the SS lower units didn't preform as expected so they went away from them in '24. Again ?, he also told me if I wanted the SS lower unit he'd get me one. Motor cover shiny instead of the mat black I thought I was getting, and they "played" with my jack plate (manual - 10") to fit the new motor. I'm no "garu" on these things, that's why I'm looking to you in hopes you can steer me in the right direction. As for now, the dealer put a 3-15 1/4 - 26 Solas Rubex 4 blade on but can't get anymore than 54-55 mph at 5400 - 5500 rpm. I'm also looking into putting a 10" hydralike jack plate (Bob's) on in hopes of getting back to the 67-68 mph I'm used to. Any response would be helpful. Keep up the good work, your helping a lot of us!
2013 Nitro Z9 Mercury 250 ProXS 2 stroke. I have ran a 25 fury and 25 TXP same problem. 5,000 rpms. 55-60 MPH. Atlas jack plate I got all that. Ran a 23 Fury 4 this week. 63 mph 6,000 rpm. Looking at 24p now
Years ago I was running a Suziki on a bass boat and the dealer had about twenty props he would let his customers use to figure out what was the right prop...and yes it worked....got my boat figured out and it was an 80 mph rig....but only because the DEALER let me mess around till I found out what was right for the boat
Running an old Fiberglass 16ft boat (Ruffnek Raker X16 similar to older ranger hull) with 90 HP V-4 Evinrude with a stainless chopper (believe it is a 19p) and I have seen 47 mph (77 kph) GPS @ 5800rpm one up light and generally get to up to 44mph tournament load. Definitely not the best hole-shot especially with heavy tournament load but when she gets up to speed she runs as well as any 16ft 90hp boat out there. Does not have a jack-plate but she does have a fixed out-mount. I have a spare 17p aluminum 3 blade that only gave me 43 light one up. Recently had the Chopper refurbished and balanced and that made a huge difference. Immediately saw a good 4mph improvement when fully loaded. Found I could get a bit more rpm when the prop was redone.
I have a 2000 javelin renegade 19. Just went with a new suzuki 150 I can only get 42-43 with a mercury laser 23. (Had the prop sitting around.) It seems crazy stern heavy rides way low in back and takes forever to get on plane. Hits the Rev limiter but still only getting 42 mph
Hey Andy have you guys tried a SS lower unit on a non-ss engine? I know the gear ratio is a little different so the prop would probably need to be changed to. Reason I ask is I've heard the ss engine lower unit are much better in the water, including turning left. I feel like I've tried everything to resolve the hard left turns but nothing seems to help. It would be a 250 ss LU on a 225 non-ss
what prop did your x21 come with, my 2022 x21 won't get past 64mph and 5600rpm, playing the prop switch game now and , bought a used T1 27p but worked it to 26p and about to flash this thing so I can hit 70mph....smh
Z17, 6” hydraulic plate, 115hp pro xs. Did get 58,5mph@6350rpm with a Fury 23” but did not carry a heavy load on a motor that small. Bravo1 24” fs/ps 55mph @6320rpm almost nomatter the load. Bravo needs to be 2,5-3” higher than the Fury.
Wanted your two cents on a prop. I have an '01 Champion 196 that the previous owner repowered with an '05 225 Optimax. I know it's rated for a 200 before I get any comment about it. The boat came with a 26p trophy plus 4 blade. Handles great but hole shot sucks when loaded. What prop would you try first to improve holeshot? 25p tempest 3 blade is what another guy recommended. Just wanted your opinion
i commented on the last one but forgot a few things. running a 183 champion with a mercury 175hp, no jack plate, a 25 pitch high five, 5 bladed prop running 5900-6000 rpm at 62 mph
2005 Stratos 200 Pro XL running a Yammy 225 HPDI. 27P T1 runs 65mph at 5200, 27P powertech VMX3 runs 65mph at 4900 rpm. Thinking about trying a 24P Scorpion S3. Holeshot is weak with both props. Have a 12” Atlas hydraulic Jack plate. Normally run 2.5” or 3” below pad. Would like to get close to 5500 rpm (limit) speed listed is one guy, half fuel, no water in wells, light tackle load.
2000 Champion 202. 4 inch manual Jackplate. 2018 Mercury 200. 23p Temptest. 60-61mph at 5900rpm. I’m sure I can get more. Can I get a ballpark prop suggestion? Also any pics of the 202 rebuild? I’m slowly bringing mine back to life. Like to figure out the back with batteries with the oil tank. Thanks. A new fan from Georgia.
1999 champion 187 dc elite. 175 Merc efi with a tempest 26 pitch. I been wanting to try a scorpion, the prop on it was bought by the previous owner. I think it is sluggish to get on plain
I just repowered from a 225 Evinrude ETec on my ChampioN 203 to the Suzuki 250SS it will be out of the shop this Monday. I just could not make the trip way up there from Louisiana. To hard of a trip on this old fart that just turned 68. I am going to try the 27 3 blade fury that came off my e tec until I can get the scorpion. But I did locate a scorpion 27 since I understood u are keeping your handy. Or I can buy one of yours if you want to sell one to me. My question is other than variable ports anything else I should do with it? And what determines how I adjust the ports, Hole shots? Oh, I do have a 6" jack plate. And thanks for all the info I have gotten from your place. I learned alot
I have a 2019 Suzuki DF250 with the 2.29 gears and I’m considering picking up a 25 or 27 pitch. I’m only concerned that I’ll have issues with blow out with a smaller diameter.
2001 Champion 193 with 200 EFI. 25p Temptest Plus and I have never broke 70 mph. Tournament load I'm low 60's. Manual jackplate that I haven't messed with as I'm getting my RPM's.
It hit 7k rpm today at about 65mph. Pulled back on the throttle as I knew something wasn't right, then the motor started making a loud knocking sound. Got towed back to the landing. Maybe this is an opportunity to get into a Suzuki?!? Lol
Just re-powered my 1991 203 champ with a 200 Suzuki. Put a 28 pitch scorpion prop on it. Running 57mph at 5900 rpms. Thought I would get more out of it.....any thoughts or ideas?
I have a 2004 ranger 521vx currently with an evinrude g2 250ho with a raker2 26p I'm repowering with a Suzuki DF250ATSS look to see what prop to run on it? I have a 6" manual set back jack plate
RePowering my 2003 185vx to a Suzuki. Going with the 150RSS with the new lower gear ratio of 2.0. Have a Tempest 25 pitch from my trashes Optimax. Would putting it on the new Zuke provide a good starting point or should I go ahead and buy the scorpion. You mentioned in one of your vids to start with a 23 pitch for a 150 as a starting point? The 03 has the setback hull and a manual jack plate.
Hey guys! What pitch Solas Scorpion would you recommend starting with on a 2022 Suzuki 250SS on a 2022 Blazer 625 Pro Elite with a 10 inch Bob's hydraulic jack plate? Also, would anyone be able to offer some four blade options for this set up? Thanks!
I have a 2016 Ranger Angler 1880 with 175 Yamaha 4strk and have the motor mounted all the way up bolted to transom and run a 19 pitch Tempest plus 14.5 in and am able to achieve 50 mph briefly at times with one person and medium load. Normally I get 49 mph max. I run at 5900 rpm to achieve this speed. I have an aluminum 4 blade 17 pitch and get 45 mph with awesome hole shot and acceleration. I can blow the tempest out in the hole shot if I don’t accelerate slowly. Any prop recommendations would be greatly appreciated. Thinking of 4 blade Trophy prop pitched at 19 or 20 since I am hitting the rev limiter.
Running a 20ft Seaark VFX with a Suzuki 150. Came with a 15 inch watergrip 21. When new was at 5800 rpms at 45 gps. Since adding weight (people, tackle, etc) I'm getting 6200 rpms and 39 gps. Do you think a 23 scorpion would bring her down to 5800 rpms? If not, what prop would you recommend to control the prop slip? Thanks.
I have a 1989 Javelin 366 with a Johnson 110 VRO. I don't know what prop is on it, cant find any numbers on it. I would greatly appreciate all recommendations for new props!
Hey I'm fixing to repower my viper cobra 201 with a 250ss and I'm running a 25p souped up tempest on my efi now would this be a good place to start I have a 26 also love your videos by the way 👍
2000 tr186 triton with a 150vmax carb running a 6” plate 3.5”below pad 25m prop tourney loaded with 2 people 58mph in the summer have hit 61mph gps speed in cold weather
Can we get a video on tempest props I have heard that they aren’t amazing out of the box and best to get “worked” I don’t know exactly what needs to be done with them! I have heard once they are worked they are the best prop for a champion!
Possibly try a 21 or a 23 mercury Laser 2 prop. If you can only find a rubber hub one you can have it pressed out and you can run the mercury to Suzuki conversion.
Ranger Z519, full tank, full live wells, 225 pro xs two stroke, two people, wot rpm 5700, top speed 68, Mercury 24p Fury three blade, pad to prop =2 3/4
2019 vexus 19ft 10in 23 tempest 5700 rpm barely hit 50mph good hole shot not much bow lift. Atlas jackplate rised 2.5in. want to try the Solas Scorpion 21pitch any suggestions ?
I have a 2015 Trx 21 elite with a 250 pro prop to pad is 2” with a 25 pitch furry hot foot to the floor 65 mile hour all I can get out of it guy before me took the prop exhaust plugs out anything I can do to get it running 70 to 75 like everyone says I should be running
So here’s my experience, hopefully it’s helpful to someone. 2012 nitro Z7, originally had a two stroke mercury pro XS 150. Opti popped. Re-powered with a Suzuki DF150A, not SS. OptiMaxx 150 topped out at 62 with just me, 24 Tempest+. The first prop I put on the Suzuki was a Scorpion 26. Topped out at 57 5800rpm after jackplate adjustments. Had the prop worked, pitched down to 24.5 and added tip cup. Boat now runs 61 at 6150 rpm. I’m happy with the top end. But the scorpion prop has a downside, it has a shit load of bow lift. That’s good for some boats, but it makes the Nitro run like a piece of plywood in rough water. It lands super hard in 2+ foot chop. Any speed. It is jarring, it will literally beat your kidneys and teeth out. Also holeshot sucks with heavy loaded with passengers. It won’t even get on plane if I’m pulling a skier or a tube. So I got a 22p Bravo mainly for when I pull my kids on tube. Works fine for that. What I found is when I’m by myself, it makes the boat ride much much smoother. The Bravo has stern lift, which the Nitro likes for rougher stuff. I can only get 50 miles an hour out of the 22P before rev limiter hits, so ordered a 24 bravo to find a hopefully happy medium. Will report back…
2013 triton 17 pro 2013 115 mercury optimax Pro XS 14x22p lazer 2 prop 3” below pad with 6” manual jack plate 53mph @ 5750rpms Any recommendations to get any more out of it would be appreciated.
I have an 07 250 HPDI on an 07 Ranger Z21. Yamaha prop T1 3b 25p and a 10” Bob‘a jp. I get max 5500-5600 RPM and about 64-65mph. I know she has more in her. Thoughts?
there is more speed in mine, but have the standard lower unit and need to plug the top four holes. when i get the jack plate up to where it really begins to run it starts to run out of water. i don't boat race anymore, and i love the fuel economy this prop has. the pI is also a dual console, so, close to 68 is darn good because of wind drag of second console, and it is a 92 model which has the hole in front of the console. another wind drag. boy, the new ones with adjustable vent holes sure would have been nice. drilling stainless is a big "B".
1992 ranger 361v with a 150 Suzuki ss running a 24 pitch Suzuki 4 blade prop hitting right at rev limiter running 52-53 tournament load any suggestions with what props we should try to get better top end and hole shot
I have a 2001 Cobra 216 with a 250 ProXB Mercury. I am running a 27 Tempest on it. Thinking about trying a Solas. How do you think it would compare to the Tempest?
I have that 1999 zx210c and repowered with 2019 225 vmax sho. Took it the shop amd they said can not find anything wrong. Running a 23 scorpion and only running 5200rpm at 62-64. Still can not hit that 6000rpms. Told me I need to go to a 21 pitch. I'm at 3200 ft above sea level in Nebraska.
Lonnie I have a skeeter 21Iclass. With a 250 2stroke yamaha. I have a 23p solas scorpion on mine it only gets 5400-5500 at 67mph. I could have gone down to a 22 and probably would be close. A 21p prob would be close for you.
@@tombryant8405 we should be able to turn these at around 6000 rpms. Something not right and I took it back to the dealer that installed the new motor and said there's nothing wrong with it they said I need to drop to a 21pitch sho prop. I don't have any trust in this dealer. I got charged for them looking at it. I'm foing to call team marine and schedule a day and take my got to them. If Andy tells me it set ok then ill be ok with it. Od rather pay Andy then the dealer that put it on and wont behind his work when I paid 20K+. Ill never take my boat to them again. If I have problem ill drive the distance to have team marine look at it
I have 150 hp xp Evindude on 19 ft bassboat. I'm running 14 1/2 ×24 Raker II and it turn just over 5200 rpm. Should I got 1 more pitch lower. Thanksim running 52 mph trim up
Do a video comparing and reviewing the 90 class of motors. I just bought that new 90vmax SHO. It's awesome! I'm running a Powertech PTR on it. Got it on a Lund 1875 ProGuide walleye boat. Running 40mph.
@@TeamMarineService looking forward to it. I run a Ranger RT178 with 75hp merc and just ordered a powertech nrs3 17 pitch..my buddy runs it on is tracker 175 and his and getting 43 on gps so hopefully will get the same.
2014 nitro Z7 175 pro xs. 24p temptest prop. My best speed ever was 62mph by myself last year. Now lucky to get 58 by myself. 52-53 with partner and tournamnet load. Just had boat serviced new plugs, oil, ect. Rpms were 5600-5750 now 5400-5500. Scorpion 23p? I wanna go vroom again
That’s the right prop for that setup. I agree with Andy, probably something going on with the motor. Might be something as simple as adjusting the throttle cable so that it goes to 100%. Could be as horrible as low compression on a cylinder. Scorpion is not gonna solve your problem in my opinion
I have not noticed any difference between the 23M and a Tempest 23. I can top out around 63/64. I think I could get more if I didn't have Rollie and Helen's Musky Shop on board. 397 Ranger FS with a 200 ProV.
How about a scorpion on a skeeter MX2040 with yami 250 SHO? currently running a 19 pitch yami saltwater series 2- getting max rpms but feeling like it's spinning out at top end (like pedaling a bike in low gear a million miles an hour but not going any faster)?
2012 nitro z7 mercury 150 four stroke...half tank of gas and light load...2 3/4 prop to pad...dual power poles...23 tempest prop...by myself 57.8 mph at 5600 rpm...I would love to get the max 5800 rpm and hit 60
I’ve got the exact same boat and pole setup. It came with a 2 stroke ProXS 150. Ran 62-63 by my self with a 24p Tempest. Unfortunately the Opti popped. I re-powered with a Suzuki DF 150 4 stroke. I tried a number of Tempest props, none of them worked well. I tried 24-29p. The Scorpion 24P prop turned out to be the best thing I found so far. I’m getting 60-61mph, great lift, way better fuel economy and smoother operation with the four stroke. I’m not sure how this translates to the Mercury four stroke, Merc has a higher gear ratio than the Zuke. (1.92:1 Merc vs 2.50:1 Zuke) But I would bet that a 22 or a 23 pitch scorpion might be the answer you were looking for. The Z7 is a pretty wide and heavy boat, and honestly I think the 150 hp rating is a bit low. I think a 200 would be appropriate, and would be a low 70s ride. The newer Z18 is the same hull basically, and is rated for 175. Just my thoughts.
Yeah I know a lot of people getting at least 60 out of their z7’s…with a 150…idk why they even have the motor rating on them the way they do…wish we could have a 200 lol
I have a 2014 Yamaha 115xb I’m currently running a 19pitch prop wot at 5,500 rpm running 40 mph and is kinda slow at plane time usually have 4 people on boat and I liked too get too 6000 rpms and maybe faster plane time and top speed what stainless steal prop should I run iv been looking at a 17 pitch SS solas or turning point prop what’s your suggestion please and thank u
I just got a merc 150 1st motor ever ill be mounting it on my 20x6 flat bottom aluminum boat with a 20 tranny 20 shaft talk anout fast ima get a hydro foil for it so it wont have the cavitation effect
93 Basscat Pantera 2 DC 1460# (im the original owner bought new in 4/93) 93 XRI 150 2.5L (2 stroke) oil injection delete 1.86 gear prop 2 pad 2,75" running a 25p tempest + (factory, unworked) 64.7 mph gps at 5350-5400 rpm (me, tourn load, 25g fuel) h20 psi @18 psi 60 -61 mph gps at 5300-5400 rpm (me, partner, tourn load,25g fuel) same h20 psi I am tickled to death with my boats current performance, even though im only turning 5350 rpm. I am not fouling spark plugs or having starting issues. Obviously this comb on my boat has very little prop slip, my question to you Andy is do you feel it is bad for my engine to be at 53-5400 vs 5800 for WOT?
My buddy runs a powertech nrs3 17 pitch on his tracker 175 and getting 43 on gps..I just ordered one for my Ranger RT178 with 75hp merc so I would imagine it would give you a slight improvement.
I'm running a 19 pitch powertech on an 18ft custom flat with a 115 sho and getting 46mph, you should be getting way more in a G3. I have a double bottom and all the aluminum is 3/16" thick.
Have a light 03 sea pro sv2100 bay boat repowered with a 2017 suzuki df 175. Top speed right around 45 with a suzuki 3x16x20 with cupping. I would reprop for another 5mph, is that realistic?
Team Marine Service hey guys I got a tracker 195 pro team. 150 pro xs tempest 24 3 blade will run 59.3mph 6000rpm fully trimmed with me and a tournament 55-57mph 6000rpm fully trimmed with a co angler. Hole shot is really fast has medium vent plugs in it. Hole shot is almost instant with just me and a load. Want some more juice up too any recommendations :)? Thanks
2009 I20 skeeter 2018 yamaha SHO. Fixed jack plate 12’’ offset. Adjustment 5 dots from top. Scorpion 23 with adjustable vents. Max rpm I can get is 5400 @ 65mph. Any suggestion to reach the 6000 rpm range
When new engine was installed. I ran break in time then normal use. Decided to check the oil and it was 3 quarts high. I called Yamaha to inform them and have it documented. Also took it to the dealer and showed them and I documented all of this. Engine issue because overfilled oil?

I have a Stratos 275 pro XL with Evinrude etec 115. 4 blades prop stainless prop Rogue 18P. 6 inches Manual Jack Plate. doing 43 mph. I don't feel a lot of boat lift .....any suggestion to improve or am I where I should be
Interesting talk on this prop. Also love that Intruder behind you. Those were great
I worked at a prop shop one summer where we rebuilt props, modified them, and tuned the running.
How does lowering or raising the front of boat with a level work ?
Thanks buddy, let us know when ya make it back up this way!
4 blade RX4 or Bravo ran high on a walleye boat is a game changer! 👍🏻
Could you do a video on prop vent holes and when to plug or unplug them?
We could possibly do that!
Comment below on your set ups!
Ill take two bags of magic motor dust and three bags of magic prop dust too 😂
Hey everyone, had Andy look at my boat and yes it was not set up correctly! Andy did his magic amd I am now hitting the rpms and am now going to have to go up in prop. Andy thanks for the magic dust!!!
You got it buddy! 👍🏻
Ain't no thang Lonnie you keep commenting away. Glad it's running good for ya and two thumbs up to the scorpion!
I'm heading up next week on Wednesday the 14th and having Andy look at it Friday the 16th. Will let everyone know what he finds.
👍🏻👍🏻
I have a df115 on a javelin renegade 18 and found a solas hr3 titan runs the best for me. 21p. I tried a few others and the solas runs great
I'm running a 23 Solas Scorpion on my 2020 Ranger 620 Pro FS with a 300 Merc Pro XS with Atlas 8" jackplate.
So to share and follow with the current challenge if have:
2016 250 SHO 21p, 14 1/2 M-series prop on a 2016 Ranger FS620 multi-species with an 8 inch setback getting 58 mph at 5750 to 5850 rpm WOT. Thanks, jws
I took a shot every time you said prop I’m fucking hammered
🤣🤣🤣🤣
If you guys have problems, with your boat and your dealer says there's nothing wrong with it but you know there is, bring it to these guys, they are honest and will find the problem. Took a 11hr drive and when I have anymore problems I will take the trip again, also it is a beautiful town on the river and you can go fishing after your boat gets fixed!!! Will be back next year just for a weeks vacation! Had to add a little more Andy! Hope you guys like the lures I painted for you guys!!!
Thanks for the plug Lonnie! We appreciate you and love the lures! Thanks again buddy!
When you guys go out let me now how they work and if you catch anything on them!!!
Good job Andy
👍
Andy I just picked up a SHO 150 on my Alumacraft 20 bay tin rig, I'm only a few hrs from you. I wanna go fast! I haven't even put it in the water yet
Stop on buy and we can help you get the most out of it!
85 bass tracker merc 50 10.5 x15p running 32🤙🏻 gonna try a 13 pitch soon
Awesome dealer!
2011 bass cat cougar with 250 optimax pro xs and 27p 3 blade fury at 82 mph
Smokin'! 👍🏻
Just tried a 23 scorpion on my 2022 Xpress X21 250 SHO it ran 75.7 on the first pass . tons of bow lift and hole shot was really good .
what prop did your x21 come with, my 2022 x21 won't get past 64mph and 5600rpm, playing the prop switch game now and , bought a used T1 27p but worked it to 26p and about to flash this thing so I can hit 70mph....smh
What prop should I try for a new Allison XB 21 with a Suzuki 250 SS?
Z17, 6” hydraulic plate, 115hp pro xs. Did get 58,5mph@6350rpm with a Fury 23” but did not carry a heavy load on a motor that small. Bravo1 24” fs/ps 55mph @6320rpm almost nomatter the load. Bravo needs to be 2,5-3” higher than the Fury.
Good deal!
Here's our guess...take a look at your motor first, something isn't right. If it all checks out try out a 25 bravo 2 with dual vent ports
i commented on the last one but forgot a few things. running a 183 champion with a mercury 175hp, no jack plate, a 25 pitch high five, 5 bladed prop running 5900-6000 rpm at 62 mph
I'm running a 27p fxp worked to a 28. On a xpress x21 with a 250 sho flashed. Got it to 81.
You'll need at least a 6" jackplate, we prefer a 8". You should be able to run a 25p trophy or a 24 tempest
1999 champion 187 dc elite. 175 Merc efi with a tempest 26 pitch.
I been wanting to try a scorpion, the prop on it was bought by the previous owner. I think it is sluggish to get on plain
Do you have the vent plugs out of the tempest?
How much performance difference would say there is in the gen 1 scorp vs gen 2. Loved the video. I just realized I have gen 1 scorp on my blazer 625
Way different ..gonna change the prop slippage and on plane performance
How much do the gen 2 run in price? Up in mn btw. Cool see a channel from a northern place like you guys
Hey Tracy give us a call at the shop on Monday and run this by us. 608-784-4162
What prop did you end up with?
so a 23fury or a 23 razor xlr, what would that equal in a solas scorpion? 23 or 24 p?
I have a 2019 Suzuki DF250 with the 2.29 gears and I’m considering picking up a 25 or 27 pitch. I’m only concerned that I’ll have issues with blow out with a smaller diameter.
2001 Champion 193 with 200 EFI. 25p Temptest Plus and I have never broke 70 mph. Tournament load I'm low 60's. Manual jackplate that I haven't messed with as I'm getting my RPM's.
How long have you owned the boat? Has it always be locked in at that rpm? Most guy ran a 24p tempest and ran 67-68mph with a 200 efi
@@TeamMarineService I've had it about 3 years. WOT I'm hitting about 5800.
I have a 6" manual set back jack plate
great videos. I have a Champ 181
with 150xr6. what prop do you recommend. Also I have a 8" manual bjackplate. Scorpion?
Thanks!
What prop did you end up with?
90hp Evinrude Etec on a 2012 16 foot Glastron gt-160. Just switched over to a viper 13 7/8x19. I'm getting about 43mph WOT.
Thanks.
Andy what scorpion would you suggest 225 hpdi running a 25 t1 now. What scorpion would be comparable

Hi have A 06 Pantera 4 putting on the 200 Suzuki what prop should I run
I have an 07 250 HPDI on an 07 Ranger Z21. Yamaha prop T1 3b 25p and a 10” Bob‘a jp. I get max 5500-5600 RPM and about 64-65mph. I know she has more in her. Thoughts?
I think that is the right RPM's for that motor...
one thing that i notice about the solas over a fury is the solas does not have any low to mid range slip.
crap, i got the old one and had to drill relieve holes. i am running a pII with a 200 mariner efi.
there is more speed in mine, but have the standard lower unit and need to plug the top four holes. when i get the jack plate up to where it really begins to run it starts to run out of water. i don't boat race anymore, and i love the fuel economy this prop has. the pI is also a dual console, so, close to 68 is darn good because of wind drag of second console, and it is a 92 model which has the hole in front of the console. another wind drag. boy, the new ones with adjustable vent holes sure would have been nice. drilling stainless is a big "B".

If I have problem ill drive the distance to have team marine look at it
1997 Ranger492vs with 225efi. Full load with Trophy 25p running at 63mph. Hoping to upgrade to a 4 stroke 250 to save some fuel money🤣🤣
What prop would you recommend for a '03 TR21 with a '03 225 Honda VTEC?
I have 150 hp xp Evindude on 19 ft bassboat. I'm running 14 1/2 ×24 Raker II and it turn just over 5200 rpm. Should I got 1 more pitch lower. Thanksim running 52 mph trim up
Do a video comparing and reviewing the 90 class of motors. I just bought that new 90vmax SHO. It's awesome! I'm running a Powertech PTR on it. Got it on a Lund 1875 ProGuide walleye boat. Running 40mph.
We do not yet...but a smaller motor video is in the works
Sound like somethings going on with the engine, something isnt right here or that tempest might need to be looked at and reworked
Team Marine Service thanks bud! Keep up the channel. Awesome content! Your knowledge is very informative.
Thank you!
Way late to this party. Same boat and year with same motor. Same prop. Getting 67-69. 5800-5900 rpm
What prop do I need on my stratos 268 fs with a johnson 88?
What’s your prop to pad measurement?
I have a 2014 Yamaha 115xb I’m currently running a 19pitch prop wot at 5,500 rpm running 40 mph and is kinda slow at plane time usually have 4 people on boat and I liked too get too 6000 rpms and maybe faster plane time and top speed what stainless steal prop should I run iv been looking at a 17 pitch SS solas or turning point prop what’s your suggestion please and thank u
The ss and tp props will get you the rpm's and most likely the faster plane time that you want but not necessarily the speed.
I just got a merc 150 1st motor ever ill be mounting it on my 20x6 flat bottom aluminum boat with a 20 tranny 20 shaft talk anout fast ima get a hydro foil for it so it wont have the cavitation effect
93 Basscat Pantera 2 DC 1460# (im the original owner bought new in 4/93)
93 XRI 150 2.5L (2 stroke) oil injection delete 1.86 gear
prop 2 pad 2,75" running a 25p tempest + (factory, unworked)
64.7 mph gps at 5350-5400 rpm (me, tourn load, 25g fuel) h20 psi @18 psi
60 -61 mph gps at 5300-5400 rpm (me, partner, tourn load,25g fuel) same h20 psi
I am tickled to death with my boats current performance, even though im only turning 5350 rpm. I am not fouling spark plugs or having starting issues. Obviously this comb on my boat has very little prop slip, my question to you Andy is do you feel it is bad for my engine to be at 53-5400 vs 5800 for WOT?
Jakes SHO with that scorp has all the lift....literally all of it hahah
Hahaha
What you think the best prop for a 115 sho is for top speed? I feel like I should be getting more than 43mph out of it on a 19foot g3.
And that at 3rd hole up on motor to 12 in slide master 8 dots showing at 2.25ptp
How many hours are on the SHO? Something seems suspicious with the motor
Team Marine Service 75 hours
When new engine was installed. I ran break in time then normal use. Decided to check the oil and it was 3 quarts high. I called Yamaha to inform them and have it documented. Also took it to the dealer and showed them and I documented all of this. Engine issue because overfilled oil?

2019 Lynx 250 ss which scorpion?
I have a Stratos 275 pro XL with Evinrude etec 115. 4 blades prop stainless prop Rogue 18P. 6 inches Manual Jack Plate. doing 43 mph. I don't feel a lot of boat lift .....any suggestion to improve or am I where I should be
Try a raker or renegade if they make a compatible pitch.
Can the SHO take a Scorp prop?
Yes sir!
How are these props on a I/O?!
