Like the French Parfait dessert.. they whip egg whites and cream.. which if anyone has ever whipped egg whites - they know how light and airy they are.. just like you said the yarn is...light and soft. The word Parfait in French means 'perfect'. Sometimes knowing the origin and original meaning of the word lines up with why they name yarn (or anything) the way they do. I like learning things and thought this was cool with how your description of the yarn lined right up with the French version of the dessert. Wtg Crystal.. you were spot on which makes you an excellent reviewer. 🌼💛 Parfait (/pɑːrˈfeɪ/; [paʁfɛ] from French meaning "perfect") is two types of frozen dessert; in France, where the dish originated, parfait is made by boiling cream, egg, sugar and syrup to create a custard-like puree which is not necessarily served in a parfait glass.
oh I was only comparing to blanket in circomfrance size-ish. Bernat blanket is a soft, plush, snugly yarn, this seems to be soft, plush, snugly yarn too but a bit smaller but not as small as tiny. Both cuddly yarn, just different kind of cuddly. Like true velvet and true chanelle is not the same at all but are always compared. There is no fabric like true old fashioned thick velvet.
I really enjoy seeing your yarn reviews because sometimes I see yarn that I've never seen and can't wait to try those that are new to me. Also-I'm anxiously waiting to see Evelyn's Easter outfit!!!! Thanks for everything you do for us crocheters! :)
Yes my daughter was gonna make my grandson a blanket with the cake and it was all over my house lol. My grandson has sensory processing disorder and he loved the feel of it
I made an afghan with the purple with teal and dark grey and trimmed with ivory. So soft and lighter than I thought it would be. I got mine on sale 2 for $10. I have washed in the washer with cold water on the delicate cycle and air dried. Came out nice.
Thanks so much, Crystal, for this great review. I love your yarn reviews so much as you have such a "trustworthy" and down to earth attitude that I feel really confident in your opinion. The fact that you're not affiliated with any yarn companies is a plus as I know these reviews are coming from your heart. Thank you so much for being who you are and providing all of us with wonderful reviews, patterns and tips when and where to find the best deals! Your channel is one of my favorites!
I got some of this in a mystery bag and just set it aside, My daughter in law bought some and I immediately went looking for mine. I just ordered more of the small ones for $1.99, Can't wait to get them.
I have a front load washer and i washed a blanket i made from this in the washing machine. No problem. I also tried it in the drier by itself on low heat. Again, no issue. Love this yarn for blankets. My grandsons love how it feels. Thanks for your review.
They look so cozy, i wwould pet them all the time! I love caressing yarn, thats how i get ideas what to make out of it. And oh, just imagine putting that soft, cozy, fluffy yarn all around, a warm cowl, a scarf, maybe a shrug hugging you warm. Damn! Now i need to see if i can buy that yarn where i live.
Crystal I really love watching you crochet, your hook just glides, I wish my Didis was still alive she would enjoy your tutorials, I used to watch her crochet in amazement, that's who I learned to crochet from, I miss her lots, but life happens. I don't know anything about yarn, so I appreciate your reviews. Some ppl have coin/stamp collection, you have yarn collection, I can see how much you appreciate the yarn by the way you handle it and your knowledge of the different types. Appreciate your information thanks a mil xx
Hi Crystal. I actually used the parfait layers to crochet one of your hooded sweaters that you made for your daughter and son. I wish I could post a picture one here to show you how it turned out. But everyone raved about the sweater design which of course, I gave you credit for. So I enjoyed using the parfait yarn to create one of your designs it was great
Hello, I have used it. I love it. Made a blanket for my bed and can't get my daughter off of it so I have to make one for her now 😁😄. Bought the yarn on Friday it was on sale on the premier website for $4.00 if anyone wants to check it out. Thank you so much for the review. 😊
I haven't had any problems with the fines splitting away from strand. Also my handbag is quite durable because it is lined. It's gorgeous! You can see my bag at paintnknit on Instagram.
I used the burgundy parfait to make a Halloween "little red riding hood" cape. Perfect. It's chilly here on Halloween night and the little trick-or-treater was DELIGHTED with the softness and the shine.
I used the parfait to make a cardigan type jacket. It’s so soft and cozy! It’s my favorite thing to put on when I get a chill. It’s becoming my new favorite yarn! I used two of the large skeins that I got on sale for $5 each.
Premiers Parfait is one of my favorite yarns to work with. It is delicate as far as washing but otherwise I love workng with it. I've never had any trouble with the yarn splitting or the plush coming off. I made my granddaughters Christmas dress with this yarn.
Hi Crystal!! Hope you are well? I love to watch, listen and follow your tutorials! You are so lovely! I was really shocked to learn that you have no sponsors here on TH-cam. I hope you have plucked a few conscious minds to support your fabulous work xx keep up the good work... 🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗
I've never had any problems with this yarn. I love it and it's up there with my favourite to work with. I don't find it delicate to work with at all. The only time I did have a slight problem was sewing in the ends. I've washed this yarn and it washed up great. Beautiful yarn.
My very favorite yarn. Have a lot of it in my stash. Just finished a baby blanket in marsh mellow stitch which worked great. I have no issues eorkingvwith it. So very soft. Reasonable price as well
Hey Crystal, the premier yarn looks extremely soft, have not tried it, the only bulky yarn I have used is the yarn for the sweater jackets that have deer or moose on the backs of the sweaters. I have bought a couple of kits to make these sweaters. The yarn I use is #2, #3, #4, mostly #3 or #4 weight yarn. Thank you for sharing and as always love, laughter and happy crafting.
I love your reviews! I tried to make so many things out of this stuff. I despise it. I really wanted to love it because its SO soft and SO pretty. It's too delicate and I cannot find my stitches at all. I also had a problem with it twisting on itself while pulling it from the skein. I made my grandma a cowl 2 months ago and it looks terrible already.
I’m making a blanket out of it right now . I must say it is super soft but kinda thin and I used two strands as one . It worked out great. Gave the blanket a bit of weight. Thanks for your video.
I just picked up a couple of the Parfait Layers cakes at Joann's since they were on sale. I picked the pink and purple cake since I am making a blanket for my daughter. I'm so in love with how its turning out and how soft it is, I think I'm going to have to make more blankets! So far the only issue I had with the yarn separating was when i joined my cakes using the invisible knot. I had to be a little more delicate there.
Thanks Crystal for the review I think I will buy me some of this for a blanket for my grandaughter for Christmas for a blanket, she asks for one every year. I am going to look for the sales of course though. Have a blessed day.
This is my favorite yarn. I have made many prayer shawls and they always go fast. I have had rare problems with it. Premire has it on sale on a regular basis. I never pay more than $6.99 for the big and maybe $5.99 for the cakes. I have quite a bit if it in my stash. I also love the Bernat Velvet.
I have not tried the Premiere yarn in any style but it looks gorgeous! I am a slow crocheted although my daughter-in-law says I am fast. I will see what sales I can find online. The craft stores with yarn in my town do not have a very good selection of yarn😥. So I am shopping online more and more.
Thank you for another great review. Last summer, I made water balloons with the Parfait Layers. I machine washed and dried and they are ready for summer. My grandchildren love them.
I love this yarn so much, it's the softest yarn I have ever used. It is a little hard to see stitches sometimes but I haven't had any problems with it splitting so far.
I love how soft this yarn is . I made Easter Chicks out of it . lightly stuffed they are great I would love making more stuffed animals with it. I did have trouble with it pulling apart but only at the beginning were it was cut. But I did find it will break if you pull it to separate ways.
I have never had this yarn break on me or anything. I Made a Queen size blanket for my husband and i for our bed and omg it's so soft. But no i have never had a problem with it breaking or anything.
I've used this yarn a lot, and I love it. The only time I noticed the fuzzy part pull away is when Iv'e made a mistake that I need to rip out. But, I've only used the Parfait Layers. I don't know how it washes since the blankets I made have been given to newborn babies in my church.
Crystal thank you fir this review. I think with the rich colors if Christmas items would look great, but if the wearing of a garment over a few times might wear it out I might not use it.
I LOVE this yarn and have made a bunch of baby blankets with it. I, too, got a bunch for $5 online when AC Moore had their sale. Great price! I'd like to make more things with it, like a sweater, but I haven't done so yet. I haven't experienced much of a splitting problem fortunately.
I love your reviews that’s the way I find out that there are new yarns on the market because here in Canada we don’t get a big selection like you in the US so sad and very expensive too but thanks to the web I can order anything that I like from your reviews thank you Crystal 👛👍
Same!! I purchase the vast majority of my yarn online, because we have such a limited selection in our stores up here. I'm not entirely sure why that is, especially in our Walmart's we don't get near the selection of the US stores. And you would think with our Canadian weather they'd want to sell warm cozy yarn. I feel like I find out about new yarn from Crystal & then wait forever for it to appear somewhere for a reasonable shipping price, or to appear in store. I live on Hobium, Yarnspirations & Yarn Canada's websites lol I've also added Hobbii on my list of site's to try.
I made my granddaughter a pair of slippers that look like tennis shoes. I did try using the yarn as the shoe laces and it didnt work as the laces because it is delicate. So I ended up using regular shoe laces. So I agree it is very delicate
I used the layers to make a Premier recommended baby blanket pattern. The blanket has gotten tons of compliments and it is absolutely amazingly soft. However, I encountered issues with some defective yarn. The delicate fibers pulling away from the main strand is definitely something to watch out for. In this case, the yarn came out of the cake missing half the fibers. I had to drive back to JoAnn to exchange them in order to complete the blanket. It hasn't deterred me from buying more though. 😊😀
Hi Crystal, thanks for the review. I recently purchased some of this yarn but have not crocheted anything yet. Can't wait to use it, beautiful colors and so soft.
I love a lot of Premier yarns but haven't tried this one. I will have to try this one now. Thanks so much for the review. FYI....I have washed their other yarns and have been very happy with the outcome. Now I haven't tried this one, so I can't say for this one, but their other yarns do wash very well.
I always enjoy your yarn reviews, you provide great details. Also, appreciate your suggestions for items to crochet with each one. As a novice, I see different yarns in stores or online and wonder what to make. I've started a list to help with making selections. 👏💕😍
I really like these yarns. Yes it is delicate but well worth it. I just got parfait flavors. Can't wait to get going on new project. Yes hand wash. Ty for review. 👍
I have not used this yarn but I want to try it. I see it all the time at Walmart however I’m not sure how much it sells for there. I love the purple color. Thanks Crystal for the review.
Oh my lanta. i love bulky yarn. Thanks chrystal, i need your advice on all these yarn comparisons. Im trying not to waste my money and you really help alot🐕🐕🐕🐕🐕
Ive had my eyes on the Layers for a while now... how did your blankets turn out with the layers? Im curious about the variegated parts and how they look crocheted.
Here in Canada on Amazon Canada, it is common to get a 3 pack of the solids for $5.71 CAD. I would imagine in the US it would be even cheaper. I have also seen the Parfait Flavours for a similar price.
I love the feel of the yarn and bought some . I was going to make a baby afghan but as i was on the 2nd row the yarn started to fall apart . It broke into several pieces in more than 1 spot. I was very upset.
I got 3 parfait and 3 balls of the gelato from the premier mystery bags. Unfortunately they didnt match so I picked up a couple more parfait from Walmart just yesterday...I love the feel of it 😍. Im just like you and will sit there and feel and squish them lolol. Thanks for the review! I cant wait to start working with it, as soon as I decide on a pattern....
I think(after watching this video) this yarn is beautiful! I have grandaughters (5,6,& 10 years old) that I would love to make bathrobes for. Do you think this yarn is good for a bathrobe? I've never used it before. Can you do a tutorial for a bathrobe for a little girl please? As usual thanks for sharing this 👍💕
I love your reviews! I'm not a fan of the heavier weight yarns. I prefer #3 and #4, but the Parfait layers looks so amazing that I might give that a try!
I must add that this yarn is not comparable to bernat blanket yarn. It's much lighter and softer. Doesn't even feel the same at all.

I loom knit with this yarn and really like the feel of the yarn and the colors
Hi Crystal. Beautiful colors and looks so soft.
I’m currently making a baby blanket with the parfait baby. It’s the first time I’ve bought it. I like the feel and it’s working up nice.
Love your reviews and love watching you pet these skeins of yarn!😃
I love this yarn. I just made a robe, a cloak and they make amazing hair scrunchies.
Crocheting with this yarn right now. ❤️ so super soft. Felt totally different than the Bernat brand.

100% agree...very delicate....but it is a beautiful yarn and extremely light weight...not wrong at all.
I have never had this yarn break on me or anything. I Made a Queen size blanket for my husband and i for our bed and omg it's so soft. But no i have never had a problem with it breaking or anything.
I love that softness. And the colors are awesome!!
Thank you for this video. You are an excellent teacher.
I've used this yarn a lot, and I love it. The only time I noticed the fuzzy part pull away is when Iv'e made a mistake that I need to rip out. But, I've only used the Parfait Layers. I don't know how it washes since the blankets I made have been given to newborn babies in my church.
I have made a bucket bag with this and it came out great. I am thinking of making a flap bag with plastic canvas.
Crystal thank you fir this review. I think with the rich colors if Christmas items would look great, but if the wearing of a garment over a few times might wear it out I might not use it.
I like the parfait yarns they make awesome animals so soft
I've never use this yarn but I think I'll give it a try I love soft yarn

I've never used it before but I definitely make toys with it.
I recently made a baby blanket from this. I bought the parfait layers when it was buy 2 get 1 free at Joann's and I had 25 percent off.
I made my granddaughter a pair of slippers that look like tennis shoes. I did try using the yarn as the shoe laces and it didnt work as the laces because it is delicate. So I ended up using regular shoe laces. So I agree it is very delicate
In that purple "big" skein, it looks like it's going to worm something fierce (the yarn was kinked as you turned it over). Chenille does that.
I used the layers to make a Premier recommended baby blanket pattern. The blanket has gotten tons of compliments and it is absolutely amazingly soft. However, I encountered issues with some defective yarn. The delicate fibers pulling away from the main strand is definitely something to watch out for. The Blanket yarn I got was my first purchase ever! & It's gorgeous, so soft & snuggly 😁💕 Erica x
I'm in the process of making a baby blanket... it took a tiny learning curve. It rips out just fine. Love the look!! Thank you for your reviews!!
Hi Crystal, thanks for the review. I recently purchased some of this yarn but have not crocheted anything yet. Can't wait to use it, beautiful colors and so soft.
Thanks, dear girl!!! I appreciate your showing the yarns and offering your opinion. It has saved me money!! Thanks again!!
I love a lot of Premier yarns but haven't tried this one. I will have to try this one now. Thanks so much for the review. FYI....I have washed their other yarns and have been very happy with the outcome. Now I haven't tried this one, so I can't say for this one, but their other yarns do wash very well.

I really like these yarns. Yes it is delicate but well worth it. I just got parfait flavors. Can't wait to get going on new project. Yes hand wash. Ty for review. 👍
I love soft and warm lol. I love it already and have never used it lmao.
I have not used this yarn but I want to try it. I see it all the time at Walmart however I’m not sure how much it sells for there. I love the purple color. Thanks Crystal for the review.
I was just saying earlier today (to my mother) that I needed to see if you had reviewed this brand !
Love this yarn
AcMoore carries the large balls on sale about once a month for $5. Plus the layers...love them
I got some of the parfait yarn in my mystery bags. Thank you I'll be very careful with it and add tags when giving gifts for laundry care.
Lol Crystal I loved your review. I love you being real it showed how much you loved the feel of it . i need to try it now. Thank you for reviewing
I love your reviews. It has helped me so much. I get mad when I buy some and it is hard to crochet with and comes apart
Thanks for the review Crystal! I plan on making some large “stuffies” using this Parfait yarn.
Thank you Crystal for your review, always a joy to watch you. If I do try this yarn then I will wait for a sale 💜🥰💜
I think it would be really nice for a big amigurumi teddy bear
I was Squishing every skein with you! 😁💕 Erica x
Oh my lanta. i love bulky yarn. Thanks chrystal, i need your advice on all these yarn comparisons. Im trying not to waste my money and you really help alot🐕🐕🐕🐕🐕
Love your yarn reviews, thanks so much. I used the Layers to make a baby blankets.
Ive had my eyes on the Layers for a while now... how did your blankets turn out with the layers? Im curious about the variegated parts and how they look crocheted.
Thanks for the review Chrystal! Very helpful!
All the colors you have go together nicely
These colors are amazing!
Here in Canada on Amazon Canada, it is common to get a 3 pack of the solids for $5.71 CAD. I would imagine in the US it would be even cheaper. I have also seen the Parfait Flavours for a similar price.
Ty for your honest review Crystal. Very pretty yarn.
I love the feel of the yarn and bought some . I was going to make a baby afghan but as i was on the 2nd row the yarn started to fall apart . It broke into several pieces in more than 1 spot. I was very upset.
I love this yarn usually dont have any problems unless I'm trying a new pattern
As usual thanks for sharing this 👍💕
I love this yarn I made a scarf for granddaughter but it does pull apart bad and its still throwing fluffys when she flings it in the air. Kris
Love this yarn so beautiful
The colors look pretty and soft.
I really like the colors...
I love your reviews! I'm not a fan of the heavier weight yarns. I prefer #3 and #4, but the Parfait layers looks so amazing that I might give that a try!
Plush looking.....Very pretty yarns....TFS
Thank you for the review, I had some concerns about it coming apart. I will try it now, I think the colors are gorgeous.
