A confession is when you are humbled and accepts that you are a sinner and confesses all your sins be forgiven. You cannot do that if you are being possessed already, they cannot confess their sins. That's why it's important to have confession every once in a while to purify your soul and then the devil cannot harm you. It prevents it from happening.
