Cory Wong and some of his musicians started their career at Paisley Park. They were Prince's house band. So this is what Thriller would have sounded like if Prince had recorded it! Cory plays with his own band, the Wongnotes, and with Vulfpeck. He's known as the greatest rhythm guitarist in the business. And while you're at it, have a look at Snarky Puppy!
Thank you very much Lynne. Ah I know of Paisley Park via a few old vinyl I own. Quality info and recommendations. I have taken note. I will dig more into Cory soon. 100%. So many bands to check out, its exciting :)
I don’t know if anyone has pointed this out yet, but in this video, Cory Wong and the brass section are in America, and Dirty Loops is in Sweden.
It’s a split screen. Aron spliced the video together to make it look like they were in the same room, when in actuality, they were on two separate continents.
WOW! that has blown me away, I had no idea, I was 100% convinced this was a live jamming session. That just lifts this performance to another level.. Awesome!!!
Not only outstanding music production but video production too, Love these guys. Thanks very much for the info Dan. Cheers for your input mate. :)
Its common knowledge it was filmed during covid in split studios Sweden and America!
Thanks for the info Steve, it is mind blowing, I had no idea. Very well done!
That was a thrilling performance 🎉😊love the musicianship, the quality of voice and instrumentals, the production and the respect to MJ! Always here for your reactions to new artists❤
Yeah these guys are so unique, so fun aswell. Loving this rabbit hole. Thanks as always for your incredible support Ama :) ❤
Glad you found the hidden jokes in the credits, they often does it, be on the look out for it.
Corey Wong is a great rytthm guitarist.
Dirty Loops did an interview with that great Rick Beato, released today. Very humble guys and Rick is a outstanding, respectful and an awesome musician that knows the game of music. Keep on listening to Dirty Loops with us, so much fun discovering their music with someone like you! Even though I have listened to them for almost 4 years and seen them live. ❤️👍👍
Yeah a happy accident mate, I am glad I did let it play now. Thank you very much for the info about the band mate, much appreciated. Thank you for your kind word. I can see why these guys have a huge passionate following like yourself. These guys are top of their game. I am now a huge fan and I am excited to check out many more Dirty Loops. :)
Great reaction my man 👍
Thanks for diving further into the DLoops catalog.
This one here is from a crazy collaboration with US rhythm guitarist Cory Wong, who hit up DLoops during the pandemic (no travels etc.) and asked if they wanted to do a track together with him. Yeah, they said. Well how about doing a whole album together. Why not, they said. So they made this killer album ‘Turbo’.
Let’s take Thriller, do a cover of it and swing it in 12/8, Cory said. Sure, the Loops said.
So they got together via WhatsApp, Skype etc. to talk about and arrange this tune, write all the other tunes on this album, sending their parts and ideas forth and back, until it was all done.
Then they recorded it on two different continents, DLoops in Sweden and Cory and his horns in the US.
And THEN both bands filmed this video, on two different continents, making sure to have the same props, carpet, lighting, camera angles, etc.
Eventually Aron, DLoops’s drummer and absolute genius, edited all the visual footage together, to make it look as though they’re all playing on the same stage.
To this day Cory and Dirty Loops haven’t officially met yet.
If that whole story isn’t nuts, the arrangement of this tune is, that 12/8 shuffle gives it such a bouncy and happy feel ☺️
Cory is a fantastic rhythm guitarist and plays with the best out there.
Check out his YT channel and podcasts ‘Cory and the Wong Notes’, ‘On The One’ and so on.
The horns are a constant feature of many of his concert tours and shows, and absolutely rock.
Some of their members are from the original Hornheads, who played, recorded and toured with many Greats over the years, including Prince (he named them ‘Hornheadz’).
One of them writes these amazing arrangements.
Both Cory Wong and the Hornheads are their own deep rabbit holes-.
You’ve asked: so the bassist on the right is Henrik from Dirty Loops 👍
He’s a killer bassist. They all are killer musicians.
That instrumental middle section is crazy.
The final bit with Jonah 😎 holding this long note, -crazy as well, and totally different from the beginning….
Next check out “Follow The Light”, “Next To You” and “Rock You”, I’d say.
👍✌️🤘👌🙏
Yes, Jonah has his own kind of voice, and I’m glad you’ve said it, cause it’s not recognized often enough, I feel.
Thank you very much once again for your kind words Fiddlestix. I have just read in other comments about the fact this was not a simple 1 shot live recording... I had no idea it was filmed in 2 different places and different times and spliced together. They fooled me 100% so hats off to them. They nailed what they went for!! To here they still haven't met each other is bonkers haha.
Oh wo, that's awesome info about the Hornheads and Cory. Once again thank you mate. Its great to soak up all this info about this incredible band. Jazz Fusion I have learned. Suits there sound perfectly.
He has an incredible voice. Like nothing I have heard before. Super unique. Love it 😊
@@M8OFMINE thnx for taking the time to reply ☺️
Really looking forward to seeing more DLoops on your channel.
You’ve got the ears and the soul, man 👍🔥👍
Henrik has the BASS covered, he doesnt need any help. Cory plays electric guitar. 🤗😁
Haha yeah you are nto wrong there, I guess I found it hard to hear what Cory what playing from the overall sound of the track.
I like your consideration of going backwards a little every time you pause, so we don't lost the flow. great. Thanks.
Cheers my friend, I am glad you enjoy my vids. Thank you for the support and feedback. :)
Love your reaction Bro! You bring a smile to my day with your moves. Cory Wong is originally from Vulpeck. The horn section is part of the Wong Notes. Are you aware that this collaboration was filmed on two continents!! It was during lockdown at the time. It's amazing what you can do without meeting up.
The brass section is also known as the Hornheads. They used to play with Prince.
Thank you very much for your kind words of support Joan. Also thank you for the info, I have just read a few comments mentioning the 2 different performances spliced into one. WOW, I had no idea. They fooled me 100% haha :)
Gotta check out their new track runaway
Thank you very much for the recommendation Alex, I have just finished that reaction. It is uploading as we speak.
@@M8OFMINE If you want to check out Cory Wong I recommend 'heading down to bunkers' off the paysley park live session. Starts at 40:45
Love your reaction. Keep'em coming 👍
Thank you very much King VII, I intend to check out a lot more Dirty Loops, watch this space lol :)
thanks for a great reaction, so fun to see someone discover DL and be surprised by the music. suggest you check out a amazing track from Jonah's solo album with steve vai as guest guitarist. the song is called "Diamond ring"
Thank you very much for your kind words and the info on the band. It's great to discovery news artist / new music, as a DJ for the last 30 years, finding new music is what keeps me going, It's great to share my passion for music with others.
Thank you for the recommendation, I will add it to my list. Cheers mate :)
So nice to see your reaction. These guys are special indeed. Many of the musicians in the corn section used to play with Prince. ♥ Keep your journey going with Dirty Loops. Meanwhile I've got a suggestion for another "hidden gem": The Danish band "The Savage Rose" - they've been around since the 1960s and have been offered several big record deals in the US, but turned them down since it meant they had to perform for the US soldiers which was against their believes (very strong political mind set). The singer Annisette is just amazing and still performs today in her 70s barefoot and dancing. Check out "A girl I knew", "What do you know" or "Byen vågner/Dear little mother" (medley).
Thank you very much for your kind words of support Ellen :) I am buzzing from these guys, I will be checking out a lot of their stuff, I am excited to go down this rabbit hole.
Thank you very much for your recommendations, I will 100% add them to my list and hopefully check them out soon. Thanks again and I hope you have a great day :)
Cory is more pure funk, and is the band leader on rhythm guitar mostly in his normal bands/gigs, though Ring of Saturn showcases his solo piece from this Album.
Cheers mate, I appreciate the info on Cory, I will be checking out more of his work soon.
Soooooo. Caravan Palace... Funky Electro Swing group from Paris. Check out their live performance of Rock It For Me. Live at Le Trianon. Energy is insane. Cheers!
Or something a bit more Electronic from them would be Lone Digger or Miracle (great live version of this one available too.) Also, are you familiar with the UK group Pure Reason Revolution?
I am making note of the name now. Thanks very much Blane :)
I have just dropped a new DL reaction and I mentioned The Jeep Grrlz a band I heard live in a club in Nottingham back in the mid 90's. I uploaded their live recording to my 2nd channel. You might enjoy it mate... th-cam.com/video/J-E9LXW9rP8/w-d-xo.html
maybe its my speakers but i think Cory is a bit too low in the mix
I agree 100%. Ring of Saturn is a much better showcase for him than this one.
What are you doing for a living? I for sure hope it is not this.
I work full time my friend, but I have an ambition to build up my own TH-cam channel over the next decade or two.
I am not sure why you felt the need to comment!
Have a great day :)
@@M8OFMINE great reply, and all the best with your YT ambitions 🔥
I’ll be there for it 💯% 👍
@@M8OFMINE Because according to me it was absolutely necessary. If you are in this sort of thing, you also have to be able to take criticism. Good luck with your channel.
@@milesdust3465 i, for one, didn't spot the criticism? So my criticism of your criticism is make the criticism extant. I guess construct it before you write it maybe? ;-)
@@miff227 Okey. Well, that is not my problem is it? Just because you can not string a sentence together is not my problem. It is your problem. And it is always interesting when people try to correct other people, when they can not even express themselves in a correct matter.
