So after the office refurbish we had quite a lot of space left on the wall! Why not paint a giant fantasy mural on it? My biggest painting up to this date was my Bob Ross painting on the Camper Van. But.. 9 days later, this mural was finished and I'm so happy with the result!

I talked with an artist who makes some of the most realistic fire, she told me how she does it. Her dad was a Firefighter, and when she asked him about fire, he told her that it has more properties in common with a liquid than anything else. Once she took that to heart she started drawing/painting fire and it became so good.

Yes, there are glazing products that will not only protect the paint in a general sense but also from fading from sunlight. As soon as I saw the window letting all that natural light into the office, it was the first thing I thought of. It would be a crying shame if it faded just because of sunlight.

The clouds - wow - masterclass
You know that hero figure standing before the dragon without giving in to fear is you don't you! you should give her a hint of purple to her hair - seriously

I love the job you did here! I've done huge walls and it's hard! The dwarfs were bigger than me! Great job!
For blending colors better, making colors fade, I keep a spray bottle of distilled or filtered water, minus the chemicals of faucet water, and spray a fine mist of water, using a clean, damp, soft bristled brush, and tap the painting with the bush tips. I hold the brush straight up and down and usually use at least a 2 or 3 inch wide house painting brush... More jab at it...as well as using the brush as intended . It's great to keep extra brushes handy to always have a clean brush to use... The water helps to give almost an air brushed texture.

This mural came out absolutely stunning. I'm constantly impressed by the straight up talent you possess for painting. Very minor suggestion, I only mention this because of all of the brilliant work you put into your lighting, had you considered adding a bit of translucency to the webbing of the wings? Basically where the thinnest parts of the wing membrane you might see that kind of pink glow through from the intensity of the light breaking through the clouds.
It's a very, very minor thing to suggest, you definitely do not need to even consider it but with all of the attention to detail you put into this work it seems like a minor adjustment like that would really amp up the amazing work youve already done

idk why but this painting made me so emotional. Im just like, look at that lil' dude go! You got this, standing there with your unwavering confidence , not even bothering to hide behind a shield while this giant, fire breathing dragon is coming straight at you! You dont even have your sword at the ready...youre just gonna wing it. Im super proud of that lil' dude right now.

Can't help myself feel pity of that warrior.. considering the sheer size of that dragon. If I was the guy there, I would be like "oh shit, I miscalculated the size of the dragon, "it's just an A-rank mission they say, and I get an S rank mission when I'm not an S rank Adventurer, JUST MY *censored* luck!"

The sheer scale of this undertaking is astounding and you completed it with an incredible exhibition of grace and talent. Do not sell yourself short, you do have an amazing amount of skill but also that rare ability to put down what you see in your mind's eye. The breadth of the colors and the beautiful lighting values are truly breathtaking, and the flames seem as though they might leap, sparks and all, from your wall.
A magnificent piece of artistry any nerd would be proud to own a print or poster of, and there it is, it's history forever engraved into your home!

You guys are such a power team it's just amazing, I've been watching for about a year and I'm always amazed about how cool and unique the projects are that you come up with, how you execute on them, how you are able to solve problems on the fly, and then create an entertaining video no matter what. When I saw the title for the van painting I thought 'well they're good, but not sure you can make that entertaining...' and you did. So I didn't hesitate to watch this one, and WOW. Also I love that you used the projector to mark it out...I think that's a killer tip others can use for doing wall murals for kids walls and such. Well done, love the editing, and appreciate the insane amount of work you put into each video. Thankyou!

I love your work! I’ve been painting my man cave/bedroom/ den as the shy and outer space, with stars and some clouds. When I’m blending, I keep a spray bottle of water handy. I use as fine a spray as I can and have been known to utilize the big car washing sponges I get at the Dollar Tree, by, getting it wet with water, ringing it out, then getting paint on it the get a great blend! I faded from white to the deepest, richest blue black. It like to have driven me nuts getting the blend the way I like it…I’m doing walls and ceiling, too. The corner of our converted Den Is what’re the bed is, so, I’m painting it sleepy white faded to deepest blue, with black and blues on the ceiling for about 3 feet passed the bed. In order to transition the ceiling to the lighter blue faux paint, clouds are at the foot of the bed. A beam runs across the ceiling which also helps to transition the ceiling away from the painting. I’m also using photo transfer medium to apply colliding galaxies I got printed at Staples Stationers and a Office Store. It’s a bit challenging removing the paper from the photos when transferring the picture onto a textured ceiling, but you just have to be patient with yourself. An airbrush is handy to touch up any booboos. Galaxies are really hard for me to paint, so, good ol Mod Podge Transfer Medium, works great! Anyway, I’m writing a fantasy series, “Beyond the Sky, Where Dragons Rule” and you inspired me to paint my hallway… the hallway is not very wide, so, I’ll be free handing the picture, or, will draw it on paper and use a grid.
Thanks for the inspiration and remember to use water. I use a bunch of water when I blend and I do love to blend!

I know a lot of professional painters that do their colors "cell" style then blend the edges with an airbrush. I've never personally seen the technique demonstrated, but I have heard it described as a blending technique quite a few times over the years. With acrylic, I'd imagine you'd just need the right reducer. I've only airbrushed with paints made for airbrush, but, again, I've seen Golden brand airbrush reducer for acrylic paints. Never used it though. Might be too much effort for the underpainting stage, though. I'm babbling.
Just a thought, though. I've been a fine artist for over 25 years, but I'm not ashamed to admit your skills far exceed my own. All of your projects just absolutely blow me away. That dragon mural is amazing. And I think you nailed the fire.

This is such an amazing piece of art. I have recently discovered your channel and I am so hooked on your painting skills on canvas or models, its so beyond. I love how much you love it even in the face of huge tasks like the giant dioramas, brick castle, 1/10/100hour projects. I bow down. I am a photographer since many years and I love learning and trying and failing and learning and mastering. I have sooo much respect for painting artists, it's pure creation. So I am so sorry to mix this tiny niggling thing in with these compliments, but the wind direction in the cape and flames and smoke is all towards the right, but the flag is going towards the left... maybe it was to avoid being lost in the terrain but it catches my eye. Speaking of eyes, wow, those dragon eyes are amazing. Perhaps the only thing that would make this more epic would cloud turbulence from it's emergence. You are so skilled... and this was 2yrs ago, I wonder what you could do now. Keep facing your fears and your dragons, you'll win them all.

  • @PygmalionFaciebat

Its incredible how you made the eyes of the dragon look like. There is a whole world in his eyes: its aggressive, .. and somehow organic, almost gore, because of the red fine lines in it, which looks more than just blood vessels - its more like explosed blood vessels, which gives even more to his aggressive expression ... and between it this fire in his eyes. Not that his eyes are on fire, but like: his eyes seems to carry the power of fire itself. Than that thin dark line in the middle .. making his expression focused but also ''alienating'' him the right amount.
And yes, all the other parts are also amazing. The idea with the clouds on the bottom of the dragon makes the dragon even look bigger than he is , because we as viewer cant know: how much of the dragon is still hidden in the clouds - making him even more impressive, and more scary. It also makes the painting less flat.. because if he would be completely visible floating , we only could speculating, that he is behind the rook with the man on it. But with the clouds on the bottom of the dragon we actually know: he is behind that rook, and raises as giant dragon out of the clouds.
So the clouds interacting with the dragon are very important to transport the energy of your composition to the viewer.
Besides that... the colors, shading, details, etc is for sure also amazing as usual - but that i am sure, everyone recognizes. So i just wanted to make a comment, which everyone maybe feels, but maybe couldnt express ''why it feels so strong in this painting''.
